• Manufacturing material - expensive types of wood, the use of forged metal parts is allowed, they give the sofa sophistication, originality and value.
• There may be scratches and traces of abrasions on pieces of furniture - usually they resort to to artificial aging of parts.
• All wooden pieces of sofas will certainly varnished.
• For upholstery use natural fabrics of nude colors - monochromatic or with a light floral ornament.
• To decorate the masters resort to carving and the use of small parts. The back is most often made rounded and low, the legs, as a rule, have an ornate shape.

Provence style upholstered furniture is presented in a wide variety of forms, but they all differ in functionality, comfort and a sense of home comfort. Depending on the design of the model, several types of upholstered furniture can be distinguished.

• Classic sofa. Such items have a straight configuration combined with a raised semicircular back. Armrests are provided, although this is optional. They are made from solid wood of valuable species. The classic sofas can comfortably accommodate 2-3 people.

Some models of Provencal sofas have a folding mechanism, initially it was not provided, however, the lack of space in typical multi-storey buildings led to the need to use the principles of ergonomics for furnishing rooms. That is why manufacturers began to produce convertible sofas. Depending on the mechanism used, such models may have an extra bed either under the seat or under the backrest. When folded, the sofas take up very little space, and when unfolded they are equivalent to a double bed.

• Polyurethane foam... It is a high-quality and practical material for filling upholstered furniture. It is environmentally friendly, it is distinguished by its elasticity and durability.After deformation under the weight of a person's body, it quickly restores its original shape, in addition, it allows air to pass through and does not absorb sweat and water, so the sofa will not exude an unpleasant musty smell. Polyurethane foam does not accumulate dust particles, which means it rarely causes allergies in children and adults.
• Foam rubber... It is used exclusively in cheap models; you will not find it in branded products from famous manufacturers. The fact is that this material has very significant drawbacks: it is not resistant to wear, weakly restores its shape, and crumples as it is used. Such a filler very soon becomes completely unusable, therefore, even with a careful attitude, it lasts no longer than 5 years.
• Foamed latex. This filler is found in the most expensive products. It is ventilated, does not collect dust particles and does not absorb water. The service life of the filler reaches 20 years. Latex evenly distributes the load from the user's body weight over the surface, thereby providing a comfortable rest.

Any filler must be supplemented with a spring block - thanks to the springs, an increased level of comfort is provided. When choosing the optimal model, preference should be given to the mechanism Pocket spring - in it, the springs are located autonomously from each other, are in a separate bag made of durable material. Such a device has a long service life, is characterized by resistance to wear, and in case of damage, you can easily replace the broken part.

Each of these materials has its own typical characteristics.

• Tapestry - dense, wear-resistant material, therefore, its service life is rather long. The advantage of the model is that it is double-sided, soft canvases are distinguished by a wide variety of colors and stylish floral ornaments.
• Cotton - a natural material that is 100% environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic. It has the property of allowing water to pass through. However, such fabric is too thin to be used continuously - the period of operation of such sofas does not exceed 5-7 years, after which the upholstery needs to be replaced. To increase the wear resistance of cotton, it is usually treated with special impregnations that protect it from the accumulation of dust particles and premature wear.
• Linen - durable and very dense fabric, its only drawback is the extremely limited tint palette. The colors that are most often found in stores are not very suitable for Provencal design.
• Jacquard - upholstery with an aesthetic appearance and high strength characteristics. The canvas does not fade in the sun, does not wear off over time and does not lose its decorative effect. These sofas do not require much cleaning. The undoubted advantage of jacquard is the variety of patterns and designs that are perfectly combined with Provence.

The Provence style is preferred by romantic natures who value naturalness and naturalness in the setting, prefer smooth refined lines. That's why when assembled, such sofas usually do not take up much space, nevertheless, they retain their functionality in full. Most often they are made straight, in most cases these are two-seater models with high backs, springy seats and soft armrests. A compact sofa will become a real decoration of any interior.

For more spacious rooms, you can choose wide corner models - they are not compact and require free space.
