The performance of the equipment in the cars and the comfort of passengers largely depend on the qualifications of the FEM. You also need to know that the level of knowledge and skills is checked at least once every two years by a special commission.

The position of a train electrician can be appointed only after a person has worked for at least a year in repair departments and confirms his level of knowledge at the certification commission.   • While driving, he must follow the readings of the instruments, and if suddenly there are malfunctions in the operation of the equipment, detect and promptly eliminate defects.
  • In the event that it is impossible to eliminate the malfunction on the road on your own, then upon arrival at the final destination, submit an application for repair and monitor its quality and volume.
  • Instruct all members of the train crew on the rules for operating the equipment and the measures that will need to be taken in the event of its failure, and general safety rules.
  • Fill out and maintain all documentation defined by the job description.

If necessary, a train electrician may be involved in overtime work in accordance with current legislation. Violation of duties leads to bringing a specialist to responsibility - administrative, disciplinary and material, and sometimes criminal, if the violation is very serious.

Education

Only trained specialists are appointed to this position. To work as a train electrician, you do not need to graduate from a technical school (college); you can get skills in separate courses or at a vocational school. The form of study can be both full-time and part-time, you can also get a specialty remotely.

To work in ordinary cars, a 5th grade is needed, if they have electric heating and air conditioning, 6 is already required. For cars that use the latest technological advances, a specialist below the 7th grade will not even be considered. Therefore, after completing basic training, on the basis of which a diploma of the established sample is issued, it is necessary to constantly take advanced training courses in order to meet the high standards of the profession.
