All about frequent highlighting

Frequent highlighting has not lost its positions for more than 10 years, it is considered very popular and in demand. And, judging by these trends, it will be in trend for more than one decade. This coloring technique will give catchy freshness and incredible shine even to nondescript curls, visually add volume and special charm to any haircut. Highlighting with small strands, "feathers" or frequent - all this is the same method.

At first, only blondes chose frequent highlighting, but nowadays you can decorate even the darkest hair in a similar way. There are several types of technology at once, where small strands are taken for coloring.

• California. Several shades are used here at once, which form a beautiful transition and give the effect of flowing hair, which is lightened by the sun's rays. Most often found in blondes and ladies with light brown hair.
• Venetian. A subtype of Hollywood highlighting, but intended for darker curls.
• American. In this case, tonal accents are placed in certain areas of a particular haircut.
• Veiling. Only the upper part of the hair is colored here. The strands are chosen as thin as possible (3-4 mm), almost translucent and therefore invisible to the inexperienced eye.

The painting technique, in which only a few strands are tinted, is called rare highlighting. The result is a very wide spread of thin colored strands all over the head. With this type of staining, a certain clarity of borders and a catchy tone contrast will be characteristic. This type of highlighting is rarely tinted, maintaining long distances between the selected strands.

Rare highlighting looks pretty catchy... Any initial hair color will work for him. The most important thing here is to correctly place the existing accents by dimming or, on the contrary, highlighting the selected shade. This type of coloring can be considered almost harmless, since only a small part of the hair will be treated with the paint. This means that the adverse effect of chemical reagents will be minimized. The technique of performing highlighting of rare strands only outwardly seems simple, so it is best to carry it out in a good salon. It is almost impossible to create perfect symmetry with your own hands.

Rare large highlights are a real decoration for very thick hair, which will favorably emphasize their luxurious color, give them a special depth and saturation. But the volume cannot be increased by this method, therefore, experienced masters do not advise choosing it on thin strands. Rare highlighting is best for those women who do not want to spoil more than 50% of their hair with dye and do not strive for a radical change in appearance.

• It will not be cheap. The cost will be affected by the length of the strands and the number of selected shades. The longer a professional works diligently on you, the more you end up paying for his diligence.
• Duration of the procedure. If the strands will be highlighted in one color, then expect to stay in the armchair with the master for at least 1 hour. If you want to get transitions from 2-3 shades, then you will have to stay in the chair for 3-6 hours.
• Dry hair. Although many masters call highlighting a gentle procedure (it will affect at least 40% of the hair), it can nevertheless significantly worsen the condition of the treated curls. But if, after highlighting, you begin to properly care for your hair, this minus can be safely crossed out.

Dyeing with frequent strands can be considered one of the most versatile ways to transform hair. It will perfectly highlight the brightness of both blondes, and reddish ladies, and brunettes. The most important thing here is the right choice of a palette of shades that should ideally match the natural hair color, as well as the color of the skin and even the eyes.

Frequent highlighting will look beautiful both on long curls and on those who prefer short haircuts. To hide the gray hair, you can use a very trendy technique called salt and pepper. 1. purchase a special plastic cap;
2. you can opt for foil;
3. use a rare comb.

For short haircuts, it is more convenient to use a special hat or a small comb with very rare teeth; for medium and long strands, it is better to prepare foil.

The highlighting cap can be disposable (after the procedure is thrown away) and reusable (used more than a hundred times). The reusable product will be denser. To color the strands, you will need to carry out your actions in the following order.

• You need to comb dry curls as carefully as possible. The cap is put on the head and fixed with strings.
• Using a special crochet hook or ordinary knitting device, pull the same thin strands through the holes in the cap.
• Use a protective cape, put on gloves on your hands. Prepare the dye.
• Using a brush or a special applicator, evenly distribute the composition over the strands that you pulled out from under the cap. It is best to start from the crown, gradually moving towards the back of the head. Comb every strand you are working well.
• Put on a plastic bag over the colored curls.Wait as many minutes as indicated in the instructions for the paint.
• Rinse off the dye. Be sure to apply a protective balm to the colored strands.
• Then you can already take off the unnecessary hat.
• Once again, you should thoroughly wash your hair and rinse your hair.
• If required, tint your strands.
• To prevent paint from dripping under the cap, make it as thick as possible.

For frequent highlights using a comb, prepare a small comb or a comb with sparse and coarse teeth. Paint is applied to these teeth and all hair is gently combed with a comb. Remember to add color to the comb as needed. After a certain amount of time, rinse off the dye and apply a special mask or caring balm to your hair.

• First, get everything ready - choose the right paint and the right tools for yourself. Cut wide strips of cling foil if you don't have professional material. The foil strips should be wider than the strands, and approximately twice as long in length (if you plan to fold the strips in half).
• Comb through your curls, dividing them into approximately 8-10 zones. They are held in place with hairpins or hairdressing clips.
• Prepare your paint.
• Throw in something to protect your clothing, and don’t forget gloves to protect your hands.
• Dissolve the curls at the back of the head, choosing from them the strands of the desired width.
• Choose from the first wide strand the thinner parts to be dyed. To make it more convenient, immediately place the colored strand on the foil strip.
• Apply the dye to the strands using a brush or regular sponge, dyeing the curl with high quality from the bottom up.
• Fold the strip along the sides and bottom to make it look like an envelope, or lay another strip on top.
• Secure everything with a hair clip.
• The same should be done with other outlined locks in the occipital region, then at the temples and on the crown, and do the same with the bangs.
• Keep the dye on the curls just as much as recommended on its box, and then wash off the dye well. Unroll all strips with foil and gently rinse the strands from each strip so as not to transfer the paint to the intact curls.
• Rinse the colored strands again, apply balm on them.

Important tips for those girls who want to highlight their hair with frequent strands using this difficult technique:

• foil can be easily replaced with ordinary film - in this case, you can follow the process of lightening your strands;
• you need to fix with hairpins both the colored curls, and those strands that you skip, so that the result comes out more accurate;
• if you are not sure of the quick execution of your work, first select all the strands, securing them with clamps on strips of foil, and then start coloring.

Test the chemical before starting work so that you don't end up with an allergic reaction.
