Micellar water is a facial cleanser. Recently, such a liquid has been more popular than conventional gels and tonics. The product is harmless if used correctly. Micellar water works very differently from other conventional products. It removes grease, dirt and makeup in just minutes. Let's take a closer look at how to use micellar water.

Indications and contraindications

Micellar water allows you to quickly cleanse the skin of all kinds of impurities. It is popular for striking makeup in seconds without any effort. Micellar water should be used for dermatitis, acne, and irritation if they are mild. It will not harm hormonal disruptions and pregnancy.

A cosmetic product cannot be called universal, suitable for everyone. You should not use micellar in such cases as:

  • increased skin oiliness - micelles can form films on the skin, which will lead to clogging of the pores, the appearance of blackheads;
  • severe acne - if acne is damaged and is in the maturing stage, then the cosmetic product can provoke the appearance of repeated inflammation.

If there are no contraindications to use, then within 5-7 days after the start of use, you can notice a positive effect. The benefits of micellar water are as follows:

  • soft effect, does not require effort and rubbing;
  • does not dry out the skin;
  • does not leave behind a greasy feeling.

Some components of the cosmetic product can cause an allergic reaction.If the skin is too dry, dehydrated, then there is a feeling of tightness. If the product contains oils, then a sticky film forms on the face. It is worth making sure that micellar water does not get into the eyes.

Do I need to rinse off?

Initially, the cosmetic product is intended for owners of problem skin with dermatitis and eczema. Over time, the formulations have become more diverse, more chemical components have appeared. The main properties directly depend on the base ingredients. Micellar water can be divided into 3 types.

  • Based on green chemistry. The product gently acts on the top layer of the skin, does not dry out or irritate. The composition is safe, it can be left on the face, not rinsed off purposefully.
  • With polyethylene glycol, butylene glycol, emulsifiers and similar substances. If there are more than 20% of such components, then the composition must be washed off the skin.
  • Based on poloxamers (Poloxamer 407 and 188). The substances are safe for the skin. Water with such a composition does not need to be washed off the face.

Micellar can have a different composition, and it only depends on this whether you need to wash your face after using it. If the skin itches or there are other unpleasant sensations, then you should immediately wash off the cosmetic. Experts advise, in this case, to completely change products with a more gentle one.

If you do not wash off the micellar water with aggressive components, then soon the skin condition will worsen.

From what age can you use it?

Micellar water contains micelles, which are essentially an aqueous solution. They contain about 95% water, oils, emulsifier and additives. A large amount of liquids and oils makes the product universal for the face. The composition allows you to gently remove impurities of any origin. There are simply no strict age limits at which you can start using micellar water.

Some experts recommend do not use a cosmetic product until the age of 14. However, micellar water is gentle, so it won't harm you at an earlier age. Micro-droplets of oil bind dirt molecules and dissolve within themselves.

Additional components of the composition ensure that the micelles are washed off the skin with plain warm water. No soap or other products are required.

How to remove makeup correctly?

Proper use of micellar water allows you to get the most out of its benefits. The product can be used every day. It should be noted that it is not advisable to wipe the skin with micellar in the morning. As long as there is no contamination, the product will begin to dissolve the skin's protective fatty barrier. It is more advisable to use water to remove makeup.

The use of micellar does not exclude and does not replace washing with running water. When applied to the face, do not press or rub hard to avoid irritating the skin. Some formulations need to be washed off with water. Sometimes it is enough to wipe your face with a damp cotton pad.

A cosmetic product is often used to remove makeup. Eyes and lips should be cleaned first, and then everything else. You can easily remove mascara, shadows and eyebrow dye. The features of removing eye make-up are as follows:

  1. moisten a cotton pad in micellar water;
  2. close your eyes, apply the product to the eyelids;
  3. hold in place for about 3-5 seconds, depending on the intensity of the makeup;
  4. run down the skin, remove the disc;
  5. if necessary, repeat the procedure to remove the remains of the mascara.

In some cases, it is advisable to use micellar water to remove most of the cosmetics, and rinse off the remainder with water. With extended eyelashes, you do not need to make a downward movement, just hold the moistened disc on your eyelids. If the makeup is with arrows, then it is worth moving to the outer corner of the eye. It is recommended to wash your face with warm water to rinse off the remnants of the product from the delicate skin around the eyes.

Important! Cosmetologists assure that the use of micellar water should be done with caution.When removing makeup, you can make circular motions with a damp cotton pad, but do not press or actively rub.

It is worth paying attention to other features of the use of a cosmetic product.

  • Don't completely replace makeup remover with micellar water... It is more of a travel solution when it is inconvenient to carry a lot of bottles with you. Micellar water is a kind of universal remedy that should not be abused.
  • If redness or irritation appears on the skin after treatment, then it is necessary to act quickly. Wash off the product with cold running water and dry your face, but do not rub. To restore the condition, a moisturizing or nourishing cream is applied. It is worth noting that such a skin reaction is most likely an intolerance. It is not worth reusing micellar water, you need to find another product.
  • Do not try to remove waterproof eye makeup with this product.... Cosmetics of this kind have a special composition that is dissolved exclusively with special tonics. Micellar water in this case can cause significant damage to the eyelashes.
  • Many manufacturers enrich the composition with additional esters, extracts and the like... It is important to review the complete list of components before purchasing. If any component causes an allergy, then you cannot use water. It is worth noting that lavender, ginseng and geranium are often irritating for girls with sensitive skin. Better to use products with sage, birch or oak extracts. These substances are soothing and rejuvenating.
  • Disodium EDTA component can be seen in some formulations. The compound is capable of repelling dust. After application of micellar water, the pores will be protected. Additionally, the component improves the regeneration process, so wounds and inflammations pass faster.

        Micellar water is quite innovative. It is able to cleanse the skin more gently than gels and lotions. It is not worth using the product too often, once a day is enough. Otherwise, the natural protective fat layer will be disrupted.
