A person's speech is formed gradually - just like logic. Therefore, verbal-logical thinking to one degree or another in any individual does not appear immediately, but over time, when thoughts develop in his mind and various situations are analyzed. When the above thinking is working, a person begins to operate with abstract concepts. In doing so, he draws on past experience. How it works? We will talk about this further.

Peculiarities

In psychology, it is believed that thinking is cognition, which is at the very top. This concept is based on education (obtaining various information), replenishment of the stock of knowledge, inferences, as well as on the idea of the world around.

Man is a being who can speak. It means that his thinking is directly related to speech... Therefore, all people can receive the established standard development only as a result of joint communication.

To solve various issues, two types of thinking are used: verbal-logical and visual. When there is a full-fledged thought process in the human brain, then objects are presented and words are operated. So, let's define the formulation - what is verbal-logical thinking. By the way, it is also called verbal-logical thinking (abstract thinking) and implies the use of speech structures. This type works and relies on language tools. Also, this type is the very last stage in the antagonistic and historical development of thinking.

The structure of the considered thinking consists of various types of generalizations. Therefore, it is within the framework of the internal mental plane and functions on the basis of linguistic means. As a result, it is believed that this is the highest stage in the development of thinking.

When this kind of thinking is turned on, any individual can highlight general patterns and generalize information.

With this kind of thinking, people are not immediately born. It is formed as a person grows up. When learning begins, there is a gradual mastery of mental activity. At this moment, the opportunity arises to think and reason in the mind, as well as to solve various mathematical problems.

Then the following operations are formed:

  • the process that allows a person to move from several parts to a whole is called synthesis;

  • when, during mental activity, a certain decomposition of a complex object into parts occurs, and these parts are considered separately, then such a process is called analysis.

By the way, the above operations, namely synthesis and analysis, are some kind of allies, since they cannot work without each other. Besides them, there are some more processes.

  • Comparison of objects, different information or different phenomena is called comparison. In addition, this process can reveal common and distinctive aspects of the above points.

  • When many phenomena or objects are combined according to one common feature, such a process is called generalization.

  • The decomposition of objects into certain groups according to characteristics, similarities, etc. is called classification.

Based on this information, the conclusion suggests itself that it is imperative to develop abstract thinking at a younger or school age.

Any knowledge cannot be learned without verbal thinking. And here's why: if you do not develop thinking, then any individual, be it an adult or a child, will not be able to learn to compare various phenomena, objects, situations with each other, as well as to conduct a thorough information analysis in the mind.

Even communicative connections with other people will become a rather difficult task for him.

How to promote formation?

The techniques can be different. Only each of them must be taken seriously.

You also need to practice for a long time and have patience.

Let's consider them.

  • The easiest way is to take a book... It is desirable that a well-known children's work was printed in it. Start reading the text of the book in reverse order. In doing so, try to capture the chain of events. This will not be difficult, since you will know the essence of the plot in advance.

  • You need to choose a friend and imagine how he will react to this or that event. In this scenario, the cases should be multifaceted - both negative and joyful.

  • Think about the people you had to talk to during the day. Then remember each conversation in detail. In this case, you also need to reproduce in your mind all the emotions, facial expressions of the interlocutors and even gestures.

  • Start coming up with various contradictions. For example, such as bitter sugar, light night, etc.

  • Choose any item and name all of its functions. For example, a table: needed for accommodating guests, dining, for classes, etc. It will be better if you also add other unusual functions to the chosen thing. For example, a seating table or a jumping table. Be sure to personally imagine all your fantasies.

  • Make up abbreviations of phrases, that is, come up with abbreviations. For example, such as verbal-logical thinking - in short SLM, etc.

  • Spontaneously write noun words on one separate sheet of paper, and adjective words on another sheet of paper. Try to match each word you write with a pair that matches the meaning.

  • Choose a letter from the alphabet and choose as many words as possible, which will begin with this letter.

  • Remember an outstanding event in your life (for example, a separate day spent on vacation). Try to capture the brightest moment and give it an unusual name. The event should remind you of the picture you painted. The drawing should be in your mind.

  • Just paint. You can use pencils to get started. Then go for bright colors. Draw as if you want to depict on the canvas the character of the subject or person you have chosen as your subject.

Exercises and games

A normal person can translate any thoughts into words. This method shapes words. It's no secret that words are a pretty effective weapon that allows you to climb heights, which consists in self-expression and in communication with other people.

This means that it is necessary to develop verbal and logical thinking. To do this, you need to start conducting classes and games that will significantly help the development of intelligence.

If you are ready, then start with the following points.

  • Get rid of monologues gradually in your thoughts.... Don't let this process scare you. Regulating an imaginary monologue helps to rest your mind. This is especially true of those monologues that are based on irrational fears.

  • You can perfectly develop speech if you exercise daily training of your inner voice.... Monologues have nothing to do with it. In this case, you need to take only one phrase and pronounce it in your mind, using different tempos. So you can understand how this phrase sounds if it is pronounced by different people. Your friends or relatives can serve as examples. Then imagine how your chosen phrase slowly floats before your gaze, while you can make out each letter.

  • You need to know that there are two types of reading: cognitive and entertaining.... Entertainment requires the use of your imagination, and cognitive requires careful study. He who reads quickly makes big leaps with his eyes from one phrase to another. Slow reading involves small movements of the eyes. A fast reading covers a large amount of the page at once. Therefore, this approach needs an analyzed process, which means that your thinking develops in this way. Conclusion: should be read quickly.

  • Clustering requires the following steps... First, identify and write the problem on a separate sheet. Then circle it. Next, write down all your emotions and associations that are associated with this problem. They also need to be circled. Then connect all the circles using the arrows. This way you can gather your thoughts together.

  • Try a recreational activity with several people taking part. Children will have a special interest in this event. To do this, take separate cards and write down involuntary words in them. Stir them up. Have each person playing draw one card. Then, in turn, each member of the game must read a word from the card and quickly make a sentence with this word. For example, the word "magnet". You can make a proposal like this: "We make a to-do list and attach it to the refrigerator with a magnet."

  • Several people must also take part in the next game.... The players sit in a circle and take turns reading tongue twisters. Gradually, the task should be complicated and more intricate phrases should be offered for reading.

  • This assignment is clearly aimed at developing abstract thinking. It is called “dissent”. In a room with various objects, you need to choose only one thing and name it in an unusual way. For example, a chair is a nurse, a carpet is a bedding, a table is a self-assembly, etc. By the way, this game is delightful for younger students.

  • Game of aliens. In this case, you need to explain ordinary earthly things or phenomena to a person as if you are communicating with an alien creature that does not understand the life of earthlings poorly. Everyone, without exception, can take part in this game, since age and type of character in this case do not really matter.

The above techniques will be of interest to both adults and children. It should not be forgotten that these brain manipulations need to be carried out quite regularly. This will enable you to quickly develop abstract thinking.
