Hair is the main component of the complete image of a woman. Their condition affects visual perception.

For example, well-groomed and tidy hair will always emphasize the beauty of a woman, regardless of whether she is wearing makeup or not. Sometimes, when creating a daily or evening hairstyle and styling, you visually want to give more volume and density to the curls. In this case, false hair will always come to the rescue. What it is and how to fix it, we will consider in this article.

What it is?

Hair extensions are strands of natural or artificial hair that are attached to specific areas of the scalp. These strands are also called tresses or overlays. There are many types of onlays, which differ in the way of fastening, care and effect. You can find them in specialized stores selling wigs or on the official websites of hair manufacturers.

It is very important for a woman that the onlays look as beautiful and natural as possible, even if they are of acid colors and are woven into braids.

The main goal is to look harmonious, well-groomed, and so that the weft does not slip while wearing.

Advantages and disadvantages

The following positive qualities of overlays can be distinguished:

  • give volume and length without hair extension in capsules;
  • easily and easily attached at home;
  • minimize harm from wearing;
  • they can be removed at any time;
  • can be painted (only natural);
  • throughout the day they retain their shape, withstand the influence of external factors;
  • can be curled;
  • no restorative procedures are required for your hair after removing the false hair.

Of course, there are also disadvantages that you need to pay attention to when choosing:

  • high price - the better the linings, the more expensive they will cost;
  • curls dry for a long time after washing (about 9 hours);
  • require sensitive care to maintain their appearance;
  • almost all types of linings must be removed before bedtime to avoid damage;
  • artificial strands do not lend themselves to coloring and do not tolerate curling and straightening at temperatures above 130 degrees;

Views

The modern beauty industry offers many types of false hair in various forms of release: braids, voluminous bundles, long and short. There are also a wide variety of shades (ranging from natural blond and black brunet, to colored acid yellow tress), and this is not a complete list.

Consider the types of hair extensions by fastener type.

On a hairpin

These are strands of curls lined up in one tape, their beginning is fixed with hairpins in the form of small crabs. They are attached very simply. First, several partings are done in turn on the head. It is best to start at the very bottom of the back of the head, this will make it easier to pin. The number of partings depends on the number of strands that will be attached. Then gently pin the hair clips at the hair roots with crabs.

There is another, more reliable way of securing: attach the hairpin to the hair, passing the hair through it, and at the same time pressing it against the head, then move it in a circular motion, and stab it at the very roots. Thus, the hair will be as fixed as possible.

You can not be afraid of the wind, rain, boldly shake your head - nothing will fly off.

The strands should not be too tight, but not too loose. It is very important not to feel discomfort, and if something went wrong, you can redo everything at any time without outside help.

Hairpins attached to hair are usually small and sturdy, invisible and will not crumble during use. This is why they are convenient - they can be used repeatedly. The strands of the greatest length must be attached to the back of the head.

On an elastic band

Here, the strands of hair are secured with a wide elastic band, they are put on the crown of the head and supplemented with a fishing line that is adjustable with fasteners. They are attached very simply, without outside help. They cover themselves with their hair from above, and they can also be twisted on a curling iron and straightened.

They are quite comfortable to wear, they do not slip, so you don't have to run to the mirror and fix them.

On sticky tape

This is the most "long-lasting" hair, and you will not need to worry about fasteners for 2-3 months. They are unpretentious in their care, they are not afraid of washing their heads, they can withstand all kinds of influences (wind, heat, frost, moisture). They are short in width (about 40 mm), so it is very convenient to fix them yourself at home using adhesive silicone tapes. They are glued at the base of the roots, so the hair looks natural.

An essential factor in such an acquisition is price. The high price is justified by the quality of the hair, safety for native curls, hypoallergenicity and durability. It is very important not to prolong the hair, since the roots at the base grow a few centimeters and the hair straps already look crooked and unnatural, they become noticeable.

It is worth mentioning that only thermal hairs are suitable for wrapping with a curling iron, so be sure to read the instructions on the package. Or you can find already curly curls that do not require additional manipulations, except for neat combing.

In addition, false curls can be of very different lengths, starting with a square and ending with long strands up to 55 cm. It all depends on your preferences and purpose.

How to choose?

The choice of hair requires a careful approach, it is influenced by many factors: quality, price, color, type of fastener, length, naturalness or artificiality.

If we talk about natural false hair on a hairpin, then they can be divided into 3 types: Slavic, European and Asian. Slavic hair is incredibly soft, thin, elastic, but it is also the most expensive in the price segment.

European strands are characterized by average density and thickness, they are cheaper than Slavic ones. Asian curls are the densest, strongest, thickest, the purchase of such hair will cost the cheapest. It must be remembered that Asian curls are not suitable for Slavic girls, because their hair structure is different. Overhead curls of this format will stand out too much, differ from their relatives, merge into one tone.

With color, everything is much more complicated, here you always need to select to match your natural hair. It is best to do this in a store, while it is advisable to look at the strands in daylight - this way you will not make mistakes.

The selection for highlighted curls is simple - strands of different colors fly and mix, so your hair will quickly take on a new look.

As for the price of false curls, it is worth noting that this pleasure is not cheap. However, if you plan on using the onlays on a regular basis, you will need two sets so that hair care does not cause inconvenience. Some strands can be straight, others twisted. This is a good alternative not to spoil your hair unnecessarily.

How to attach correctly?

First of all, before attaching false hair on your own, you need to distribute the strands along the length. Estimate by eye which strand you will apply in the first place, and in which area of the head. It must be remembered that false curls are attached to clean and dried hair. It is advisable to do a little bouffant, however, this procedure is optional. In addition, you will need to split the strands horizontally and secure with hairpins.

To the crown

This is one of those areas of the head where you want more volume and density. Shorter hair is attached to this area, for example, bangs, an overlay or strands that will be closest to the face. These pads are perfect for those with thinning hair with short hair. For the crown, there are special overlays on silicone tapes or clips in the form of a shock of curls. If these are strands, when fastened, they are covered on top with their natural hair.

The pads should not create discomfort; after putting on, check the fasteners. To do this, bend over to the sides a couple of times, shake your head slightly. If everything fits well and does not fall off, then you have secured the pads correctly.

On the parietal part

Usually, in the parietal region, the strands are attached to the side, because if you attach them back, your own hair, while you wear it, will part at the sides and the whole secret of a thick hairstyle will come to the surface. However, there is an exception here, for example when you pull up your hair in a ponytail. For the crown, longer strands are used, merging with relatives.

How to care?

Care of the linings is a must, as it allows you to keep the shape and condition in the best possible way. Since the hair is constantly exposed to mechanical (combing, rubbing against clothes, skin) and thermal effects (wrapping, straightening), you will have to take care of the curls regularly.

These procedures are not complicated. You need to comb your hair with a straight comb, starting at the ends and smoothly moving higher and higher along the curls. Do not press or stretch too much if the hair is tangled, pinch a little higher than this place with your hand and try to untangle it without the help of a comb.

To wash natural linings, you must adhere to certain rules.

  • Before the procedure, you need to comb the strands.
  • Use shampoo for dry, damaged hair.
  • Do not rub the hairs while washing.
  • Try to hold the strands along the entire surface so as not to overload them with weight from the water.
  • After washing, you need to blot your head with a towel.Do not wipe your curls under any circumstances.
  • Natural linings are dried for 9 hours in a horizontal position; it is undesirable to use a hair dryer.
  • For shine, elasticity and softness, use conditioners, brush spray. The use of oils is not recommended.

For artificial hair, the washing procedure is a little more complicated, since it must be carefully washed in a container with hot water (previously brought to a boil).

  1. Do not use the same shampoo as for natural hair. Here you will need a product for washing artificial hair, which you can buy in specialized stores. It is foamed in a small amount, then the hair is dipped for 10 minutes.
  2. After that, they are washed with cool water 2-3 times, and it is important to make sure that the shampoo is completely washed off.
  3. Then the curls are dried with a towel or hung on a rope. The hair dryer is used only in extreme cases, and only with the supply of cold air.

In general, overhead strands are washed no more than once every 2 weeks with daily wear. The tap water is too hard, so wash it with baking soda to keep your curls intact. Be sure to pamper your false hair with masks and various care products - this affects its softness, elasticity and shine.

Paint

There are times when the hair color is not quite similar to your shade, and this can only be corrected by coloring. It should be noted that only natural strands lend themselves to this procedure. It is best to entrust this to a professional in the salon, however, you can also do it at home. At the same time, hair must be clean and dry. Let's consider the step-by-step staining process in more detail.

  1. Prepare your paint.
  2. Test one of the strands first to see the reaction to the mixture.
  3. Apply paint from the ends, and try to distribute it evenly along the entire length.
  4. Dyeing time is 2 times less than for native hair. If it says 20 minutes on the pack, do not keep the dye longer than 10. This is because artificial hair is more vulnerable to chemical reactions.
  5. Rinse the curls under running water until the paint is completely removed, be sure to apply the balm that is stored in the package along with the paint.
  6. Hang hair dry for 9 hours by hanging on the hairpin and do not expose to hair dryer.

Screw up

Most often, false hair is used to create hairstyles or styling so that the overall look looks luxurious. Therefore, most likely, they will be wrapped or straightened for further manipulations.

As mentioned earlier, the packaging must be marked as temperature-resistant. The heating temperature of the curling iron should not exceed 170 degrees.

Curling occurs in the same way as on your own hair. The strand is fixed and wound with a curling iron, kept for about a minute. After this, the main stage follows: we remove the curling iron from the strand, holding the curled curl, pin it with a hairpin or invisibility, and wait until it cools completely. Thus, the shape is maintained, the curl does not disintegrate.

Hairstyle options

The simplest, everyday option for wearing overlays is straight, loose hair. The second common option is curls wound on a conical curling iron.

French braids are another reason why it's worth attaching extra strands. A beautiful fluffy braid due to its density makes the image more interesting and versatile, it is relevant both in the morning and in the evening.

Recently, it has been fashionable to use colored kanekalon when braiding boxing braids. In addition, the braids on top can be decorated with flowers from foamiran or stones - it will look natural and unusual.

      Shells or tufts are a great idea for how to use overhead strands. One has only to acquire invisible hairpins, hairpins, hairspray and patience, as the original bun in your performance is ready.
