With the help of a wig, you can instantly change the image, as well as hide your own hair under this "hat" when it requires treatment. Artificial hair products are often chosen to solve such problems. To keep wigs presentable for a long time, you need to be able to properly care for them.

Peculiarities

Compared to a product made from natural strands, a wig made of artificial hair is cheaper and is lightweight, which makes it comfortable to wear. The head does not sweat in it and its own hair is not damaged. Various materials are used for the production of artificial wigs. Acrylic, vinyl or polyamide shines brightly, although they look fake. Plus, they are tough and quickly get confused. These materials are used to create doll hair, and wigs from them quickly lose their presentable appearance without proper care.

Beauty accessories, where kanekalon is used for "fake" hair, look more like real hair. Even to the touch, such hair is not too different from human hair, and besides, it does not frizz. Some can even be curled without fear of disrupting the structure of the material that imitates the strands, and the curls will retain their original appearance for a long time. Thanks to such things, you can radically change your hairstyle for a while. In order not to have a haircut, cutting off, for example, your own long hair, you just need to put on a wig like a bob with bangs or something else, and stay that way for one evening. No wonder that lovers of experiments have in their arsenal entire collections of women's wigs.

Important! Today such products from different countries are presented on the market. You can choose high quality German, American, French and even Chinese.

What to do before washing?

Caring for a wig at home is basically not much different from caring for your own hair.

Artificial ones also need to be washed and combed. It is believed that such a thing can be put in order by washing about once every two months.

However, a lot here depends on how often it is worn and in what conditions it is worn. Indoors, it does not get dirty as quickly as outdoors.

Regular shampoo is not suitable for washing artificial hair; using it can ruin the product. Therefore, you need to acquire products designed for wigs. If you wash artificial strands with them, there is no risk of disrupting the structure of such hair. Before the start of "water procedures" this hair must be combed and the resulting knots must be unraveled using a comb with rare long and rounded teeth.

For convenience, the wig can be put on a pig or just on the head. You should comb it in the same way as regular hair - in a row, starting from the ends and moving higher and higher towards the roots. Short hair is easier to comb than long hair. In the process of work, it is better not to make sudden movements so that the strands do not get tangled even more. If you are preparing a curly wig for washing, it is advisable not to use a comb, but to organize the hair with your fingers.

How to wash?

Boiled cooled water is used to wash the wigs. Some add soda to it. When washing, a little shampoo is poured into a bowl of warm water, foamed and immersed in the product for 15–20 minutes. After that, it must be rinsed in water at room temperature, acting very gently, without trying to wash it like clothes during hand washing, twisting and pounding in liquid. If there is dirt on the wig that does not come off, such as makeup residue, you can take a toothbrush with very soft bristles and gently clean the area.

Then transfer the product to another water where the hair balm is diluted. Here the wig will soak for another 10 minutes. Thanks to this procedure, artificial curls will become softer and more obedient. To rinse off the balm, the wig must be rinsed in clean, lukewarm water with a small amount of fabric softener. This will protect the unnatural hair from static electricity.

How to dry?

The washed wig should be wrapped in a towel and wrung out a little. Do not act rudely, trying to immediately wipe dry or twist artificial hair. It makes sense to leave the wig in a towel for 15 minutes, then spray it with conditioner or a special serum for such products. You do not need to wash it off. To prevent the wig from wrinkling during drying, it is put on a blank. It is better to take the same jar or dummy head, if available on the farm.

Dry naturally away from direct sunlight. It usually takes about 8 hours for this beauty and makeover accessory to dry completely. Drying with a hairdryer, as well as styling, straightening or winding artificial hair with heating devices, is possible only on thermocouples. You can return the product to its previous shape by shaking it after drying, combing it again, and also turning the hair in the desired direction with your fingers. To make it easier for yourself, you can use styling mousse.

How to paint?

Sometimes it happens that the color of the wig does not suit. Many people are annoyed by the unnatural shine of artificial hair. To make the shine go away, it is recommended to treat such strands with baby powder. Even if you want drastic changes, it is risky to try to turn a black wig into a white one and vice versa. Using regular hair dye for this kind of experimentation means ruining the fibers from which the fake hair is made.

To refresh the look of an accessory, you can try changing the color of several strands, for example, next to the face.To do this, just paint over them with an alcohol-based marker, but this only applies to accessories with blonde hair.

Another option is to use paints that are used to paint on fabrics. In this case, a solution is made so that a jar of batik dye falls on 1 liter of water. Then a wig is placed in the resulting liquid for two days. After finishing painting, it must dry for at least 24 hours.

Important! You should be prepared for the fact that your hair will become harder than usual. You need to comb them with extreme caution.

You can use ink to dye your wig dark. They are able to give fake curls a black, blue or purple hue. It must be borne in mind that it will not be stable. So, deciding on such experiments, you need to think 10 times whether it is worth it. To change the color of the accessory, some people use acrylic paints in spray cans. The wig is laid out on a plane and the composition is sprayed so that the hair is evenly colored. Dry the product for at least 3 hours.

For many, changing the original color of a wig is a necessary measure. Sometimes it is needed for cosplay or disguise. But those who use these products on a regular basis will most likely prefer to have several wigs of different colors on hand. They do not have to worry about the fact that, under the influence of precipitation or simply from time to time, the paint will begin to come off the product, at the same time ruining the clothes during wear.

How to improve your appearance?

Any wig, no matter how well looked after, gradually loses its festive look. It becomes more and more difficult to comb it out, and at some point it turns out that it is no longer possible to restore its former beauty, or at least to put this accessory in relative order. If at the ends he has become very shaggy, it is easier not to try to return him to a decent condition with a comb, but simply to cut the ends. With frequent wear, you will have to do a haircut every six months.

How to store?

Such products are stored in special nets that help to maintain the shape of wigs. During storage, do not put the packaged accessory in the cabinet. It is necessary to provide access to fresh air. In addition, the room should not be damp. If, until the next appearance in people with artificial hair, the wig is stored on a disc, it is preferable to determine a place for it on the shelf where the sun's rays do not fall and where the heating radiator does not fry.

You can cover the wig with a handkerchief to prevent dusting. Polyethylene cannot be used for this.
