Natural hair with pins: how to choose and attach it correctly?
Women are rarely satisfied with their appearance, so they are constantly looking for ways to increase both the density of their hair and its length. A good alternative to extensions is to use natural hair extensions. They are very easy to attach, easy to clean, comb and fit.
Peculiarities
Natural and artificial curls are used as false hair. The first ones have a number of undoubted advantages: they can be styled, curled and straightened, moreover, even a dyeing procedure is allowed to achieve complete identity of the shade of the native and false hair.
The main difference between natural hair with a hair clip is its appearance, which even the highest quality synthetic strands cannot repeat. Whatever raw materials are used to create the tress, they will not be obedient in any case, so you will not get the perfect styling.
Thus, when using natural hair, you can achieve the maximum resemblance to your own hair, perform a variety of styling, curl, straighten and, if desired, quickly change your hairstyle and shade of hair.
Natural hair is much more expensive than artificial hair because it looks more natural and, with proper care, will last much longer.
Most often, natural curls are attached with hairpins. In this case, the strands are sewn onto a strip of fabric along with several clack-clack clips. This is very convenient, because you can attach such curls and remove them yourself, without resorting to the services of professionals. However, with mechanical stress, they can slip off the head.
Hairpins made from natural hair are the best way to change your appearance in a matter of minutes before a holiday or some other special occasion.
Hairpin tresses are available in several versions:
- long wide stripes;
- medium-sized segments;
- short and narrow strands.
How to distinguish from artificial ones?
Visually, artificial and natural strands can be very similar, so it will be quite difficult to see the difference, especially for an inexperienced person, but if you hold two strands of about the same size in your hand, you will feel the difference immediately: synthetic curls are made from algae, therefore they are much easier natural.
Overhead strands are often used in photo shoots, so keep in mind that artificial hair, even of the highest quality, will have a well-defined shine with the flash, but natural hair extensions will not differ in any way from your own curls.
If you buy hair for daily wear, then it is definitely better to buy natural hair. They will last you from six months to several years, while synthetic ones retain their original appearance for no more than a couple of months, and more often become crumpled and lifeless after a few days.
Natural hair is much better than artificial hair, it looks more natural and lasts a longer period, respectively, and the price of such tresses is quite high. This leads to the fact that many unscrupulous manufacturers, under the guise of natural hair, offer synthetic or mixed wefts.
The easiest way to tell natural from synthetic hair is to cut off a couple of hairs and set them on fire. If you have natural curls in front of you, then the fire will be flickering, short-lived, leaving a pungent smell of burnt meat. Artificial hair gives off a sparkling flame and burns out to the very end of the hair, and the smell is quite peculiar, reminiscent of the one that plastic emits when melted.
There are other methods to tell the difference between synthetic and natural hair.
To begin with, you can evaluate the appearance of the strands. Synthetic ones look perfect: they lie “hair to hair” and shine. Natural hair, on the other hand, often has split ends, it does not fit perfectly evenly and does not have a pronounced shine.
Do a tactile test, that is, simply feel your hair: natural hair is usually thicker and softer than fake hair. Although there are difficulties here, for example, the hair of Slavic girls is much softer than that of Asians. If the hair is often dyed, then it becomes coarse, so their structure, even if the curls are natural, may differ. Therefore, even in the store, swipe the tail from bottom to top with vigorous movements: natural ones immediately electrify and rise, and artificial ones do not change their position.
A very good test can be arranged with a curling iron: usually nylon hair at the moment of curling begins to melt immediately, and if heat-resistant protein is mixed with the raw material, then such a curl at a temperature of less than 120 degrees simply will not curl. You can test your hair for naturalness using a ceramic straightener: artificial hair immediately starts to burn when rolled.
The surest way to make sure that there is no synthetic component is staining. Take a small section of hair and color it. If the hair dyes evenly, then you have a natural material in front of you, and if it shines with a variety of shades, you have a lot of various synthetic impurities in front of you.
Of course, when buying a strand, you are unlikely to be able to check the quality of hair in all the described ways, but at least three or four of them (general appearance, characteristic to the touch and degree of electrification, and imperceptible burning of a hair) will help you decide and make the right choice, not overpaying for a "pseudo-natural" in case you have an artificial fake in front of you.
Selection Tips
When choosing natural strands, first of all, it should be borne in mind that Slavic hair is most valued in the hairdressing market, and here lies the main danger: there are often situations when, instead of the promised curls from Slavic girls, masters in salons offer cheaper and much lower quality strands from Italy and Asia. It is quite difficult to visually distinguish them, only specialists can do this, therefore unscrupulous manufacturers often paint the curls of Asian women in white shades so that they are very similar to ours both in appearance and in touch. To achieve the desired effect, naturally black hair is bleached with a fairly concentrated oxidizing agent, due to which the color pigment is completely removed.
The structure of the hair suffers from such an effect: they become rather brittle and thinned. To hide such defects, the curls are covered with a special liquid silicone, which effectively smoothes all scales and evens out the surface of the hairs. At first, such strands look very expensive and well-groomed, but once you wash your hair with shampoo, the whole effect instantly disappears.
That is why the first advice when buying overhead strands is to contact only proven beauty salons with an impeccable reputation.
An important question is the selection of the shade of the strands. Try to find a shade that matches your natural hair tone as much as possible. Fortunately, modern strands come in a wide range of colors, so choosing the right shade shouldn't be too much of a problem.
It is very important to decide in advance on the desired length of the strands - the false hair should match your hairstyle as closely as possible. For example, if you buy hair on hairpins that will be much longer than your relatives, then the overall impression will be the most unnatural: the overhead strands will stand out and attract unnecessary attention.
How to attach?
Attaching hair with clips to your head is easy, although it takes some skill.
- First you need to thoroughly wash your hair with balm and dry it, then make a light bouffant at the roots. If you have curly hair, you can skip this step.
- The longest strands should be fixed to the back of the head, and shorter curls should be chosen at the crown and at the temples.
- The hair on the back of the head must be divided into two halves horizontally.
- Attach prepared tracks to the formed parting and fix it.
- Above, you should apply your own curl, then continue all the same actions, moving towards the crown.
- The indents between the tracks in the temple area should be wider - then the hairstyle will look more natural.
- Finally, the hair is fastened at the crown, while the direction of the wefts should be circular. If you fasten the hairpins randomly, then the overall impression of the hair on the head will be sloppy and unkempt.
Care advice
Real hair does not require much maintenance, but some rules still need to be followed.
- Combing is quite simple: by analogy with combing your own curls. To do this, you need to take small strands and brush them along them in the direction from the tips to the crown, gradually rising up, as if straightening them. Movements must be very careful.
- Wash your hair in warm water. To do this, the chignon is detached and dipped in a bowl of water, shampoo is added there, rinsed and gently rinsed in running water.
- If you wish, you can use conditioner after washing - then further styling will go much easier.
- At the end, the pads need to be straightened and hung on the ropes, fixing them with clothespins.
- Store the false hair in a dry place.
