Perhaps not a single family can do without a blanket. This household item warms everyone on cold nights. Soviet wadded sleeping accessories have long gone out of fashion. Modern cotton models are light and soft, but at the same time quite warm.

Peculiarities

Cotton blankets are made from natural raw materials. Cotton is available and inexpensive, it does not require special conditions for growing.

Cotton blankets are environmentally friendly - they do not emit toxic substances and are absolutely safe for the health of households. Their main advantage is considered to be hypoallergenic, which is achieved through the use of natural raw materials. Cotton is ideal for allergy-prone people and newborn babies.

Such models are very light and soft due to combing out the raw materials and processing it with a special solution, which helps to maintain the shape of the fibers. Cotton is a very durable material that is resistant to the effects of various aggressive substances. Its fibers are resistant to the negative effects of vinegar, alcohol or high temperatures - important when removing tough stains.

Cotton filled blankets are some of the warmest. However, this does not increase the body temperature: a person is not hot, because the products are considered breathable. Breathability makes them optimal for thermoregulation and as comfortable as possible for sleeping.

An equally important quality of cotton accessories is their availability. Anyone can afford to purchase a quality household item for relatively little money.

The disadvantages of cotton blankets include demanding care: they are not recommended to wash them frequently, they need to be periodically shaken out and dried, squeezed only at the minimum speed of the machine, and regularly ventilated.

Varieties

Choosing a blanket, buyers are faced with a difficult choice, since the range of such bedding is huge.

The following types of such products are presented on the market.

  • Lightweight models with cotton filling. They are ideal for warm summer nights, they are not hot underneath. Products have a thin layer of filler, which allows air to circulate and removes excess moisture well. The weight of the filler for summer models is no more than 1 kg. This is half the size of the winter options.
  • Jacquard cotton models. Blankets are considered attractive due to unusual jacquard ornaments. They have high moisture absorption and excellent breathability. Jacquard duvets are not only warm and cuddly, but also very beautiful.
  • Quilted patterns are among the most popular. Their filling and outer part are made of natural cotton. They are securely fixed to each other by stitching. Stitch lines can be parallel, perpendicular, curly, or intersecting.
  • Baby. Models are quilted, with colorful jacquard fabric, depicting your favorite cartoon characters.

The choice of cotton blankets is extensive, so that each buyer can find a suitable model for himself both in appearance and in price.

Dimensions (edit)

The sizes of cotton blankets usually do not differ from the standard ones. The size grid corresponds to single, one-and-a-half, double and euro beds. It is this nuance that must be taken into account when choosing bedding. The product should not hang down to the floor or be too small.

Standard blanket sizes:

  • single - 140x205 cm (width and length);
  • one and a half - 155x215 cm;
  • double - 172x205 cm;
  • euro - 200x220, 220x240 cm;
  • for children - 110x140 cm.

On sale there are also models with non-standard sizes, for example, small blankets for newborns and other options.

How to care?

To care for cotton blankets, it is sufficient to follow the manufacturer's instructions. The operating instructions indicate the drying conditions, temperature conditions for washing, and recommended products. Products are allowed to be machine washed, but only on a delicate cycle at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees.

Owners of cotton bedding need to remember a few rules.

  1. These blankets do not need dry cleaning, they can be washed by yourself.
  2. The main recommendation for machine washing is to use a water softener. If the blanket is large, do not wash it in the small drum. Spinning and drying should be done at reduced speeds. Dry the blanket after washing, preferably in a straightened form.
  3. As soon as the blanket is unpacked, it must be spread out. This can be done on any flat surface. In this case, it is important that the room is ventilated. You need to leave the blanket in this form for several hours, after which you shake it - it will straighten, the fibers will be filled with oxygen, the product will become more voluminous and fluffy.

For a longer service life, it is recommended to shake the cotton blanket daily to keep it soft for many years. Cotton blankets are highly hygroscopic, which means they do not allow excess moisture to accumulate and absorb it into themselves. Because of this, they must be periodically ventilated, hung out in the fresh air to dry. It is necessary to resort to such measures approximately once every six months, but if the humidity in the room is high, then the procedure must be carried out more often. It is worth remembering that this is done to prevent the creation of favorable conditions inside the filler for the development and reproduction of bacteria.

Buying a cotton blanket will allow you to enjoy home comfort and pleasant dreams. Knowing the basic qualities of cotton blankets, you can easily make the right choice and choose the model that is optimal in all respects.Such a blanket will delight its owners for many years.
