A blanket is an important part of your household. Without it, it is impossible to sleep in the cold season, it can also serve as a decoration for the bed. There are different types of blankets and different materials for making them. In this article, we'll talk about quilted patterns.

What it is?

If the blanket is called quilted, it means that it consists of a pair of sewn-through fabrics and a filler between them. One-piece fabric is not always used here: applique and patchwork techniques are also applicable. Therefore, there are no special problems with creating a varied appearance. Insulating material is uniformly laid out in sections. It is almost impossible to make a quilt without the use of professional sewing techniques.

The sectional design improves usability. The insulation will not clump. The stitch pattern can be flexibly varied to create an arbitrary pattern. Quilts are relatively inexpensive. But it is important to know what exactly they are.

It is convenient to group sleeping accessories by filler. A classic of its kind is the use of wool. More often it is sheep's wool. Camel wool and cashmere are less common and are much more expensive. Downy varieties are also popular. From synthetic materials in demand:

  • synthetic winterizer;
  • holofiber;
  • silicone and some other materials.

Other criteria are also important. So, many people will be satisfied with a satin quilt. The beautiful-looking glossy silk immediately captivates with its appearance. It is an attractive aesthetic product that:

  • dries quickly;
  • does not absorb static charges;
  • hypoallergenic;
  • cool even on hot days.

Atlas is very nice and pleasant in the summer. Shelter is still necessary, and comfort is very important. In addition to satin, for summer blankets you can use:

  • linen;
  • tencel;
  • bamboo;
  • silk.

However, linen and silk products are elite options. You will have to pay a lot for them.

Cotton, bamboo with natural fillers will be much more budgetary, while they differ in no less attractive characteristics. In the children's bedroom, it is recommended to choose a quilted fleece blanket.

Separately, it is worth disassembling such an option as batting models. They do not create allergic reactions and are completely hygienic. The service life exceeds 30 years, so the purchase costs are fully justified. It is not cold under a cotton blanket in winter, but in summer you will not suffer from extreme heat. However, it will get very wet, it is problematic to wash it, and dry cleaning does not allow you to cope with stains. In addition, batting is beneficial for the development of bacterial colonies.

Usually the thinnest items are bought for the summer. Sometimes, of course, lightweight bedding made of modern materials of a greater thickness is used. But that already depends on personal taste. For the winter, they try to take the warmest options. For the off-season, they select something average in terms of characteristics, depending on the climate of a particular area and the quality of heating.

Dimensions (edit)

Everything is more or less standardized here. Manufacturers adhere to the generally accepted dimensional grid:

  • one and a half blanket - 1450x2050 or 1500x2200 mm;
  • double - 1750x2050 mm;
  • an outdated version of a double product, now it is less and less common - 1700x2100 mm;
  • euro - 2000x2200 mm;
  • for children, for cribs - 900x1200 mm.

Selection Tips

Quilts with synthetic filling have a moderate level of heat dissipation. They can even be suitable for people prone to allergic reactions. It is easier to care for such bedding, and it weighs much less. In favor of natural fillers, this is evidenced by:

  • increased antistatic characteristics;
  • healing effect;
  • improved average thermoregulation;
  • better air permeability.

Be sure to pay attention to the covers and their properties. The more natural materials in their composition, the more expensive the product.

Pure synthetics are relatively cheap, but difficult to refuel, and the inherent build-up of static charges is also a major problem. The way out is the use of combined covers, for example, from polycotton. It is not very reasonable to be guided by the price, because both cheap and expensive options can be of high quality.
