Frosty chestnut hair color: features and tips for dyeing

Chestnut is renowned for its versatility and looks great in a variety of shades. One of the most popular is the frosty chestnut tone, which, thanks to Hollywood celebrities, has been in trend for several years. This shade was first presented to the general public in 2013, since then it has gained a large number of fans around the world.

Frosty Chestnut is the coldest version of chestnut hair color and contains a rich base of green pigment at its core. Thanks to its presence, the strands acquire ashy notes, which reduce the warmth of the classic chestnut to nothing. Very often, such a shade is used as a transitional color when dyeing black hair into brown, and also, after unsuccessful dyeing, if necessary, neutralize too bright copper or red curls.

An ash shade on brown hair requires careful selection of a haircut, always clean and well-groomed hair. Otherwise, it will look dull and unsightly, visually adding a few extra years.

But with a well-chosen image, as well as full correspondence of frosty chestnut and hairstyle, the shade begins to work wonders: it produces an impressive effect on others, makes a woman mysterious and charming. However, despite the popularity and media coverage of most owners of frosty chestnuts, the decision to dye your hair this color must be approached with some caution.

The shade of frosty chestnut is considered a rather demanding tone and is mainly suitable for women with a "cold" appearance. The key points of compatibility are blue or gray eyes and pinkish skin. In other cases, frosty chestnut hair will give the face a tired expression and some "tears". Dark skin is also allowed, but a slight pinkness should still be present. The same applies to the cheeks: they should also have a pinkish tint, which, however, can be easily achieved with makeup.

In addition to the color of the skin and eyes, you should also pay attention to the veins: they should be an even blue and clearly visible on the wrists. And also the original hair color should be taken into account. For example, it is better for blondes not to take risks, not to dye immediately in frosty chestnut. This is due to the presence of pigment in the paint, which on light hair can give not ashy, but a greenish tint; it can only be removed by re-staining in a darker color.

However, these recommendations are somewhat generalized. Many spectacular owners of the frosty chestnut shade are of the “summer” type. They have dark skin and warm brown eyes. That's why the compatibility of appearance and hair color should be determined purely individually, taking into account not only the woman's phenotype, but also her dressing style, as well as the structure and length of the hair. So, frosty chestnut looks more impressive on long haircuts than on short ones. This is due to the fact that long hair is able to flow and play in the light, thereby revealing the depth of the shade and allowing others to fully enjoy it.

After the decision to dye your hair has been made, you need to attend to the choice of a coloring agent. For this, tonics, mousses, paints and gels from well-known, proven manufacturers can be used. The last point is mandatory for the following reasons:

• frosty chestnut is a very complex shade, therefore the coloring composition must clearly correspond to the color declared on the package and not give side effects;
• for the same reason, a special durability of the dye is desirable, since the frosty chestnut that is losing saturation will not look very aesthetically pleasing; it will be very disappointing if it was planned to walk with a shade not before the first wash, but much longer.

The modern market offers a wide selection of formulations from companies such as Revlon, L'Oreal, Garnier and Syoss. If you want to get a light shade, then you can limit yourself to mousses, which are abundantly present in the lines of these companies. If you need to paint over gray hair, the amount of which has exceeded 50% of the total hair volume, then the best solution will be frosty chestnut resistant paint, which is also present in their assortment.

If the frosty chestnut is absolutely not suitable in type, and you really want to become the owner of this shade, you can consider a lightweight version with the presence of streaked strands. In such cases, the choice of highlighting color is carried out taking into account the individual characteristics of the appearance, they are guided by the color of the skin, hair and eyes. So, for the owners of milky-white skin of the face with the absence of blush on the cheeks, strands of ashy blonde color are quite suitable.

This shade harmonizes very well with frosty chestnut, but adds even more "coldness" to the look of a woman. In addition to light ash tones, for highlighting, you can use copper, caramel, red and light brown shades, which are quite suitable for women with dark skin and "warm" type of appearance.

Colored hair needs delicate care using natural products. The optimal composition for shampooing will be a nutrient solution prepared from 2 tsp. dried lavender, the same amount of rosemary, 6 cloves and 0.5 liters of water. Place the ingredients in a small saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. The resulting broth is cooled, filtered, mixed with three tablespoons of shampoo and washed hair. This composition can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

For rinsing hair, use an infusion of two handfuls of dry walnut leaves and 0.5 liters of water. For its preparation, the leaves are poured with boiling water and insisted for 40 minutes. Next, the composition is cooled, filtered and rinsed with it after each wash.
