Sometimes, in order to radically change your appearance, you just need to freshen up your hair color. Owners of naturally dark curls usually face chocolate shades, although for natural blondes such a change in image can be truly fateful. The most important thing is to be careful about the choice of paint.

Color features

The hair color with such a sweet name resembles a deep brown hair a little, but it is more saturated and shines a little in the sun. The tint palette is very wide: it is warm milk chocolate and a cold black-coffee tone, and a neutral brown color. Thanks to the variety of colors, each girl can choose the shade that will suit her own style and personal preferences.

Dark chocolate is a tone perfect for a business style, because it attracts attention with its laconicism and strict expressiveness. At the same time, he does not detract from the natural femininity, on the contrary, he makes the image more daring and sexy. The main advantage of tone is the ability to accentuate.

With the help of strands of chocolate color, it is very easy to create a spectacular image, drawing attention to the advantages of appearance, natural or artificially made features (plump lips, well-defined cheekbones or expressive eyes).

Varieties of tones

Manufacturers of paints are constantly working on the release of new tint series and tones, so that any representative of the fair sex, regardless of her age and type of appearance, can choose a tone that will perfectly suit her. Dark chocolate is no exception: it is presented in the cosmetic industry in several varieties.

  • Bitter chocolate is a deep, cold color. The shade is ideally combined with pale aristocratic skin, therefore it is suitable for girls with “winter” and “summer” color types, whose skin can be compared to porcelain.
  • Black chocolate. When choosing it, one should not forget that it differs by only one tone from the coal-tar color, therefore it attracts attention and hides the expressiveness of features. In addition, it is only suitable for women with perfect skin.
  • Hot chocolate - a warm dark brown tone that perfectly complements the image of swarthy girls with dark eyes.
  • Chocolate chestnut - this combination looks spectacular on tanned and snow-white skin, emphasizing the beauty of green, amber or brown eyes.
  • Chocolate caramel - a soft color, which is characterized by the presence of golden shades and midtones, this tone plays especially well under the rays of the sun. The color is very popular among girls with light peach skin, blue, gray or light green eyes.
  • Milk chocolate - this color is recognized by stylists as universal, since it is ideal for both warm and cold color types.

The rich color palette is a wide variety of shades and midtones. Each of them, be it wenge or chocolate red, is distinguished by its deep color, saturation, brightness and luxurious radiance.

Therefore, choosing any variety, a woman will take the first step towards looking youthful, fresh, stylish and attractive.

Who is it for?

When choosing a palette of dark chocolate, it is very important to take into account the color type of the appearance. This definition covers skin and iris tone, as well as natural hair color. Chocolate tones are ideal for women with a winter color type, that is, owners of dark eyes combined with light or dark skin. Women of other types need to know some subtleties.

  • Summer (light olive skin, blue or gray eyes, light brown strands). Usually, these features are not very expressive in themselves, so the dark chocolate color can distract attention to itself. To prevent this from happening, girls will have to complement the image with bright makeup. This can be dark lipstick, eyeliner, or thick eyelash extensions. If your appearance is of the Scandinavian type, then the combination of white skin, light eyes and dark hair will be very daring and effective: the curls will favorably emphasize the brightness of the eyes and the porcelain skin tone, but in general, the perception of the appearance will be quite extravagant.
  • Spring (light skin and light eyes). In this case, it is important that the shade of the paint is warm, so you should be careful. It is best to choose the tone with a stylist or a professional hairdresser-colorist.
  • Autumn (soft skin tone, freckles are possible on the face, natural hair color with a golden tint). In this case, classic dark chocolate looks inharmonious, it is better to dwell on other shades or use color only to shade individual strands.

The shape of the face is also important when choosing a paint color. If it is round and full, then dark shades will help hide excessive roundness and make the oval look more noble. For owners of elongated faces, dark chocolate will add soreness and add a few extra years.

Keep in mind that dark chocolate shades are suitable for young women from 20 to 30 years old, they make older women even older, so if you do not want to emphasize all your wrinkles, then it is better to give preference to a different color palette. Deep chocolate notes give mature ladies a tired look and a grayer complexion, which is not good for women. Dark chocolate looks best on the following hairstyles:

  • curled curls of medium length;
  • long cascade;
  • loose straight hair with smooth, straight bangs;
  • square with graduation;
  • sloppy short grunge.

Interesting: psychologists noticed that repainting in shades of dark chocolate gives shy and indecisive women courage, audacity and self-confidence, makes them self-sufficient and purposeful. It can be argued that toning will not only change the girl's appearance, but also transform her very essence.

When combined with a haircut and makeup, dark chocolate suits almost all types of faces. However, there are several contraindications.

  • Staining is not recommended for owners of inflamed skin, with acne or pimples. Dark shades emphasize all the advantages of a well-groomed skin, but its disadvantages, on the contrary, make it more noticeable.
  • The shade is good for a lady with dark eyebrows and eyelashes, if they are light, they will have to be constantly darkened.

If you have a naturally neutral appearance, and due to your temperament or lifestyle, you do not want to make an expressive make-up, other colors and shades will suit you.

How to choose a coloring agent?

When choosing a coloring agent, preference should be given to proven cosmetic brands with a reliable reputation. A true deep chocolate shade can only be obtained if the coloring composition used is of high quality. Otherwise, you will not achieve any noble shade, but you will spend a lot of effort, time and money to restore your damaged strands.

Pay attention to the composition: it should not contain coal tar and lead acetate, since these components damage hair structures and also worsen the condition of the skin. It is advisable that the dye contains UV filters that will protect the hairstyle in the summer.

Keep in mind that you can achieve the effect shown in the picture only if you tint the previously unpainted hair in a lighter shade. If you have bleached or red curls, then the result may differ significantly from expectations. To avoid frustration, first, do a small test, coloring only one strand.

It is best to choose the right paint on the advice of a hairdresser, you should not use the recommendations of your friends: every woman has her own individual hair structure, so the composition may appear lighter or darker on different curls. The following shades of dark chocolate have proven themselves best:

  • Loreal (code - 3.0);
  • Garnier (code - 3.23);
  • Palette (code - W2);
  • Schwarzkopf (code - 365);
  • Cies (code - 3-8);
  • Wellaton (code - 4.0).

Keep in mind that the high cost of paint does not always indicate its high quality, often cheap formulations may in fact turn out to be safer than expensive branded ones. For lovers of everything natural, we can recommend dyeing products that were popular at the time of our grandmothers: in those years, women dyed their hair with natural products, at the same time, the result was obtained no worse than with the use of many modern synthetic dyes.

  • A rich shade of dark chocolate color can be obtained by mixing henna and natural coffee... To prepare the coloring composition, you need to pour 3 tbsp. l. coffee 200 ml of water and boil over low heat for 5–7 minutes, after which the mixture is cooled to 40–45 ° and a bag of Iranian henna is added to it. The paint is thoroughly mixed and applied to the hair for 1.5–3 hours. The exposure time depends on how rich and vivid you want the hue to be.
  • You can achieve the desired color palette and using henna and basma... The powders are mixed in equal proportions, poured with hot water until a creamy consistency, cooled slightly and applied to the strands. It turns out a beautiful chocolate shade, which perfectly emphasizes individuality and style.

The advantages of natural paints include their environmental safety, availability and low cost. At the same time, they have their own disadvantages:

  • the color fades quickly;
  • you can repaint with any chemical paint no earlier than in six months: before that, not a single dye will simply be taken.

How to paint?

It is very easy to dye your hair in dark chocolate shades, because such toning does not require preliminary bleaching. An exception can only be the dyeing of bluish-black hair. All that is required of you is to follow the instructions on the paint package, and after half an hour your curls will sparkle with new shades.

In recent years, partial staining has become very popular: highlighting, ombre or the use of glare techniques. Such coloring will give the appearance a zest, make it look more well-groomed and original, and at the same time cause minimal damage to the hair.

Please note that any synthetic dye can cause an allergic reaction, therefore, before starting work, you need to check: apply the dye composition to the skin area near the wrist or elbow. If you feel a burning sensation, redness, a rash or swelling, you should stop using this composition.

How to care for strands after dyeing?

So that after dyeing, the hair color remains saturated and radiant for as long as possible, simple rules should be followed.

  • Use special shampoos for colored hair.
  • It is better to dry the curls naturally without a hairdryer: this way you will not only retain color longer, but also maintain the health and strength of the strands.
  • Try to minimize the use of irons and hairpins. If you can't refuse them, apply thermal foam before styling.
  • Perm can be done no earlier than 3-4 weeks after dyeing. Keep in mind that the color will be partially washed off as a result of this procedure.

Remember to wear a hat or kerchief when walking in the hot sun, as UV rays tend to fade colors.
