Basic origami shapes overview
The art of folding paper figures has been known for quite some time. Everyone can master the skills of creating crafts, the main thing is to learn how to make basic shapes. Origami will be an interesting leisure activity for both a child and an adult, therefore it is worth spending time with the whole family at this activity. A parent who has mastered the basic forms can help the baby and jointly make something unusual and beautiful.
Folding the square shape
To fold interesting paper crafts using the origami technique, you need to start with the simplest, with basic shapes. The main shape from which all other elements are created is the square. To make a simple square, you need to follow a series of steps.
- Fold the square blank diagonally.
- Bend the resulting triangle "valley" to the right. "Valley" is the concave part of the fold; in the diagrams it is indicated by a dotted line.
- The upper corner must be bent "mountain" to the left. "Mountain" is a convex fold, in the diagrams it is denoted by a dotted strip with dots.
- Turn the workpiece over, and repeat the previous steps on the other side.
In addition, there is a basic "double square" shape, the creation of which is different from the previous version. To make this form, you need:
- fold the square workpiece diagonally on one side and the other, and then unfold;
- bend a square sheet along and across and unfold again;
- bend the workpiece along the outlined lines;
- lateral squares are directed inside the workpiece and are bent in half;
- the top of the product goes down.
Correctly following the instructions, you can easily get a "square" and "double square", and then move on to the development of more complex elements.
Triangle and Double Triangle Shapes
One of the simplest forms found in the art of origami is the triangle.... To make such an element, you need to prepare a square sheet of paper, put it in the shape of a diamond and fold it in half.
It is very important to do this procedure carefully so that the edges of one part of the element coincide with the second, otherwise the finished product will look untidy and you will not be able to create more complex shapes from it. You can bend the workpiece "mountain" and "valley".
Besides the simple triangle, there is a more complex double triangle shape. To make such a detail, you must:
- prepare a square blank and fold it diagonally, creating a simple triangle, this manipulation must be repeated on the other side;
- the workpiece unfolds and bends from top to bottom and from right to left;
- bend the part in half, bending the corners into the element;
- throw the top piece to either side - and the "double triangle" is ready.
You can create such a shape in the reverse order, the main thing is to monitor the evenness of the folds and the correct sequence of actions.
Other options
There are also other basic forms of origami that children of any age can easily master.... For preschoolers, you can use the simplest and most understandable paper figures: "door", "book", "pancake", "envelope". For older children, you can give more complex schemes for creating such basic shapes as "frog", "house", "fish" and more. On the basis of simple forms, children will quickly deal with more complex ones, they will master new origami elements without significant difficulties.
When working with preschoolers, it is best to start mastering the basic forms by folding the "square" and "triangle", after which you can move on to learning how to create the "door" and "book" elements. To make a "book", you must:
- prepare a square sheet of paper;
- bend it in half, aligning the edges correctly.
On the basis of this shape, a more complex door part is made. To create it you need:
- prepare a square blank;
- bend the sheet in half;
- bend each of the folds again, connecting the edge to the inner fold.
Children 4-5 years old easily cope with this task.
A more complex basic shape is the "envelope". There is a huge variety of such products, so you can choose the folding method that is suitable for a specific age group. One of the simplest is the following option:
- take a square sheet of paper, put in the shape of a diamond;
- bend it in half with the top up;
- bend the front part of the top in half;
- bend the right and left corners near the base of the figure to the center in turn;
- turn the sharp tip of one of the corners outward, open it and level it;
- Bend the upper part of the figure to the base, placing the tip of the upper corner in the previously created square niche in the lower center.
Another uncomplicated figure for children is the basic "pancake" figure. To do it, you must:
- prepare a square blank, put it in the shape of a rhombus;
- bend the part from top to bottom, unfold back;
- bend the product from right to left and unfold again;
- Bend each corner of the rhombus until it touches the center of the element.
All 4 corners should touch each other at the center of the part.
Older children can be offered work with more complex basic forms. To make a "frog", you need:
- create a basic double triangle shape;
- one of the sides must be turned off and bent so that the acute angle looks down and is located near the base of the triangle;
- bend the corner again, connecting the side with the fold line;
- the resulting pocket is opened and flattened;
- the lower sides are aligned with the inflection line, after which the middle part is bent;
- mark the lines, and raise each lower corner along them;
- all raised corners are folded down;
- turn over;
- raise the corners in four planes.
To make a basic "house" shape, you need:
- prepare a square sheet of paper;
- bend it from top to bottom and from right to left and unfold the workpiece;
- bend in half, from top to bottom;
- bend the rectangle in half and unfold;
- bend the sides of the rectangle to the central fold on each side;
- on one side, unfold the upper part of the paper and level it so that a triangle forms on top - the roof of the house;
- do the same procedure on the second side.
To make a fish shape, you must follow the instructions.
- To master this basic figure, you need to master the "kite" shape. To create an element, you need to prepare a square blank and put it in the shape of a rhombus.
- A sheet of paper is folded from top to bottom and from right to left, and then unfolds.
- The top corners fold over to the center line and unfold.
- The same is done for the bottom corners.
- The side corners are plucked and folded in half along a diagonal line.
- The corners are bent upward, closing the figure along the rhombus line, away from you.
- The bottom corner rises, the figure turns over.
There is a huge variety of origami crafts that can only be mastered after learning the basic shapes.
