Origami crafts are ideal for preschoolers' development. By folding paper figures, the child increases the dexterity of the fingers and hands, develops imagination, thinking and memory. All the skills gained as a result of such activities will help children cope with different tasks, not only in school, but also in everyday life.

How to make animals and birds?

At the very beginning, it is important to attract the child, so it is worth starting with what is interesting and understandable to him - with the figures found in wildlife. For beginners, it is better to choose simpler schemes, and you may need help from parents.

Subsequently, children will learn to understand the notation used in creating origami, and will be able to practice on their own.

Among pets, the most beloved pets are cats and dogs - and you can start with them. In order to make a funny kitty, you must:

  • take a square sheet of paper (preferably colored) and fold it diagonally;

  • fold the resulting triangle in half and unfold back - to outline the middle;

  • alternately bend up both side corners to the same level (the resulting ears should be located at the same distance from the center);

  • bend the central top down by a quarter of the total height;

  • turn over, draw or stick parts of the cat's face (eyes, nose, mouth, whiskers).

The muzzle of a puppy is done in almost the same way:

  • bend the square diagonally, turn the resulting triangle with the fold up, fold it in half and unfold it;

  • we wrap the right corner towards the center (at an angle relative to the upper edge), do the same on the left side;

  • then we bend these parts in the opposite direction so that the tips protrude beyond the edge, and wrap the corners;

  • turn over, bend the top layer of the lower corner up, and wrap its top inward;

  • we finish drawing the details of the figurine.

In addition to animals, birds can be made of paper - they are quite light, and when suspended, they move from any breeze. Progress:

  • we bend the square base along the diagonals;

  • we will work with the left corner - bend it to the right, going one third beyond the fold line, and then wrap the top layer back, forming a small fold;

  • fold the resulting workpiece in half;

  • bend the lower protruding parts up on both sides (these will be the wings);

  • in the front part, we bend the corner to one side, straighten it and press it down along the outlined folds.

An origami figurine can be an interesting toy, especially if it can move. The most popular option among them is the jumping frog.

For it, you can cut a square in advance, or make it from a rectangular sheet - bend the upper corner diagonally to the opposite side, and cut the strip remaining on the side. Next, you need to follow the detailed instructions:

  • fold the sheet in half, press the fold with your finger, unfold, and do the same across;

  • bend the square workpiece diagonally, unfold - as a result, you will get a "snowflake" from the intended folds;

  • wash the opposite sides inward so that the square folds into an isosceles triangle;

  • bend the bottom corners of the top layer, gently joining them in the middle;

  • by the same principle, bend the side corners to the center, and then bend it halfway in the opposite direction (you get the front legs);

  • turn the workpiece over, wrap the right and left sides (a little short of the center), and then fold it back, getting a fold, as in the previous paragraph (these will be the hind legs);

  • turn the future frog over, bend it in half so that its hind legs are on top, and then bend it back;

  • iron all the folds well, turn over, press the back so that the figure begins to move.

Making flowers

Another extensive section in origami is making all kinds of colors. They can be created individually, collected in bouquets, given for the holidays, decorated with postcards, paintings, or supplemented with other crafts. As usual, starting with the lightest, it is better to stop your attention on the tulip, it will consist of two parts. For one flower you need:

  • fold a square sheet of red, pink or yellow from corner to corner;

  • starting from the center of the lower fold, bend the right side so that the corner looks beyond the left edge;

  • do the same on the left side;

  • wrap the lower corner on the wrong side.

For a stem with a leaf, you need a larger green square:

  • bend two adjacent sides to the diagonal, align the edges;

  • fold the resulting elongated rhombus in half lengthwise;

  • bend the lower part upward at an angle;

  • connect with a flower, fix with glue.

Mastering modular origami, children 6-7 years old can easily assemble a delicate chamomile with their own hands. For one flower you need 8 petals, at least 2 leaves and 1 round center. Their size depends on how large the flower is planned. We start with the petal:

  • bend a white square with sides of 5 cm diagonally;

  • bend the sides at the lower vertex to the center of the triangle;

  • turn over, bend both upper triangles in half (you should get two teeth).

To create the leaves, you need a green square. He needs to bend one of the sides to the diagonal, and then bend it in half in the opposite direction. Do the same with the adjacent side and turn the smooth side up - it will be the front. A small circle should be cut out of yellow paper, petals should be glued to it along the edge, and leaves should be glued to the reverse side. If you need a stalk, twist it from a wide strip of paper.

Other crafts

There is no clear separation of origami schemes for boys and girls, however, among them you can find options for interests.

For girls

Little fashionistas will certainly be attracted by the idea of making a beautiful outfit for a doll. To make a dress with a fluffy skirt, you need a square or rectangle (depending on the required length and width).

If you have a suitable paper doll, you can apply the blank to it and navigate by its size. To make clothes bright, it is better to take a paper with a pattern.

How to make a dress step by step:

  • fold the sheet in half lengthwise and reproach;

  • fold the right and left sides in half lengthwise, align the cuts in the center;

  • bend the two lower corners outward diagonally;

  • slightly bend the central corners in the upper part in order to make the collar (try to do it symmetrically);

  • bend the lower part back and bend back, forming a fold, work through all the folds well so that they do not bulge;

  • bend the two upper corners back (to bevel the shoulder line).

Continuing the doll theme, you can easily fold the hairstyle out of paper. To do this, we take a rectangle, the width of which should be 2 times wider than the head, and the length should be one and a half times the desired length of the hair. Fold it up and down, straighten and bend the top half in half again. Then, one by one, bend down the upper corners. We wrap the side parts in half, bend back the lower third and the corners - the hair is ready. This craft can be worn on a doll's head instead of a wig or hat. Or draw in the middle of the facial features. By folding the corners and sides in different ways, you can model the hairstyles to your liking.

For boys

Focusing on an adult example, from a young age, almost all boys are interested in technology and transport. Moreover, origami can be an excellent illustration of the topics studied, help to understand in more detail on visual material. Telling your child about space, you can suggest making a rocket:

  • outline the folds in the center - along and across;

  • bend half of the upper part down;

  • flip, bend the right and left corner of the top edge;

  • bend the sides to the middle of the workpiece and bend back (so that they protrude beyond the edges);

  • turn over, put - the rear parts bent in the form of an accordion will not allow the rocket to fall.

In the origami technique, you can make almost any vehicle. The most popular option is a typewriter. It is done quite quickly if you follow a step-by-step scheme:

  • fold the paper in half, and then fold each half again, aligning the cuts parallel to the central fold;

  • bend each corner of the folded side back (so that they are the same size, you can measure the distance from the corner to the bend);

  • wrap the vertices on all four triangles, and the fold line should be parallel to the side of the base;

  • fold the workpiece in half;

  • on the one hand we push the corner, on the other - we make an oblique cut and hide the corner inside the machine;

  • we finish painting windows, headlights, wheels.

The resulting clipper sits well on a flat surface.

Another equally well-known option is a large ship. Despite its apparent simplicity, it requires patience and accuracy. The figurine made of thick paper is quite capable of swimming and not letting water through. How to fold it:

  • fold the rectangular sheet in half, alternately bend both upper corners to the center;

  • bend the top layer of the remaining strip at the bottom, do the same with the strip on the other side;

  • bend the corners protruding from the side to the opposite side;

  • pull the lower folds in different directions, expand the space inside the workpiece, and fold it so that you get a rhombus (the center of the triangle will be on the side);

  • bend the lower corner of the rhombus, aligning it with the upper one, turn it over, repeat from the back side;

  • again pull the lower folds, and fold the workpiece in the form of a rhombus, smooth the folds well;

  • gently push apart the adjacent sides at the upper corner, straighten the figure, give it a three-dimensional look.

When folding origami, iron each fold and carefully align the corners. For beginners, it is better to take large sheets of paper as a basis, since it is easier to get confused in small details.
