Making origami from a square
Many different origami figures can be folded from a square piece of paper - for example, animals, birds, flowers and more. In this article, we will analyze in detail how to fold this or that craft step by step.
How to make animals?
Making animals out of a square sheet of paper is easy. Even a student of grade 1-2 can cope with the creation of such crafts, it is enough just to be guided by a simple and understandable scheme, and act step by step.
For example, you can fold origami in the form of a hare's face. To do this, you need to take a paper square and fold it in half, carefully ironing the fold line to outline the middle. Next, you need to slightly bend its lower part, the base, back, and then turn up the small triangles, as shown in the diagram, so that the ears of the animal are formed. Now we turn the workpiece over to the other side and hide the upper and lower corners of the square to get a face. Ready!
It remains only to show imagination and draw a hare's face with markers or colored pencils.
There is another easy version of the origami craft in the form of an animal, namely: a fox. Such a figure is also easy to fold.
First, you need to fold the square in half, ironing the fold line well, then unfold the workpiece and fold it in half again to get another line, thus creating cross-shaped center lines. It turns out an isosceles triangle, the corners of which must be bent upward, thus forming a rhombus with several layers. Now bend the corners as shown in the picture to form the ears and tail. Ready!
To complete the picture, it remains only to draw the eyes and nose.
Crafts in the form of birds
The creation of birds using the origami technique is also not very difficult, and therefore, both novice craftsmen and small children who are just learning to work with paper will be able to cope with such a craft.
Let's figure out how you can make a swan using the origami technique. To do this, you need to fold a square piece of paper in half, marking the diagonal, then unfold the workpiece, and fold the side corners of the square to the resulting diagonal. The ends of the folded corners must be wrapped, after which the figure must be folded in half. Its long part must be bent to obtain a swan neck in this way. Bend the corners to make the beak and tail as shown in the diagram. Draw the bird's eyes with felt-tip pens. Ready!
In a similar way, a dove can be made of paper. For such a craft, you also need a paper square, which must be folded in half, getting an isosceles triangle, and the corners of the resulting figure must be folded upward, getting a rhombus with several layers. We mark the middle of the rhombus and the side verticals, as shown in the instructions. Now we hide the side corners of the figure inward, fold the blank in half and turn it over. Bend the wings of the bird up on both sides, giving them a shape.
Now you need to bend the body of the bird so that the tail goes down to the lower part, and spread its wings. We complete the figure by folding the beak and drawing the eyes. Ready!
Making flowers
In the origami technique, flowers can also be made, which can later be presented as a gift for a particular holiday. Let's figure out how to make a paper lily.
- This will also require a square, which first needs to be folded in half., ironing the fold line and getting a rectangle, and then unfold and fold it again, but in the other direction. Expand the workpiece again, you will get a square divided into 4 small squares, fold the corner shape to the corner to get an isosceles triangle, and then unfold and do the same, but in the other direction, while not forgetting to iron the fold lines ... Now fold the opposite corners of the workpiece to create a "double square" and unfold the workpiece with the open edge up.
- Open the near valve and bend it towards the centerline, as shown in the figure. Unfold the fold and open the flap, then flatten it along the folds that have formed. Fold the smallest flap on the right side to the left, then fold the right edge toward the center. All the same, starting with the fold turn, must be done on the left.
- Turn the workpiece so that it lies with its open edge towards you, then lift the near valve to the top, which lies opposite, so that they coincide. After that, a pocket should form on the right side, which must be folded to the left, as in the diagram. The same must be done with the upper part of the workpiece.
- Take the resulting layer in the opposite direction, and turn the workpiece over. Repeat all the steps that you did on the other side, then bend the valves on the right side to the central part. Do the same for the other two sides.
- Expand the flower model with its free edge to the left side, and fold the bottom edge on the right side to the central part - do the same with the other edges. Now screw on the four valves of the lily with a pencil. The flower is ready!
Modular origami from small squares
Modular origami is somewhat different in complexity: it requires more perseverance and patience. However, the works made in this technique look beautiful and interesting. Let's figure out how to make a modular flower.
- First you need to make modules. To do this, you need to divide an ordinary A4 sheet into 16 equal squares, from which the details will be added.
- To make a module, take one square, fold it in half and in half again, and then unfold it back. Turn the workpiece with a fold towards you and fold its edges to the center line. Fold the lapel up, and fold the remaining corners behind the triangle. Unfold the shape and fold the small triangles along the lines formed, then fold the cuffs up and fold the shape in half. Ready!
- Having made the required number of modules, we begin to form a flower, fastening the modules to each other as shown in the figure. For the first two rows, 20 modules are required. Please note that when assembling the figure, the module must be placed on the short side. The third row consists of 10 parts of a different color - this will be the middle of the flower, while the module must be placed on the long side, as in the picture. The fourth row is formed from 10 modules that need to be placed on the short side, the fifth row is formed from 20 modules, while for each module you need to put on 2 elements so that the free pocket is in the inner part of the figure.
- The sixth row, aka the last one, is formed from 30 parts, at the same time, 3 parts must be put on for 2 modules, and the free pockets must go inside, as in the figure.
The flower is ready! It remains only to make him a stem and petals.
More ideas
You can make other crafts using the origami technique. For example, a clapperboard that can be used in games for children. It's easy to create. This will also require a square piece of paper.
The cracker is folded as follows: the corners of the workpiece are folded to the middle, after which the workpiece itself is bent in half. It turns out a trapezoidal figure, the corners of which must be turned down, after which the workpiece is folded again. You will get a three-dimensional triangle, and this stage in creating a cracker can be considered the final one - the toy can be used. This is done as follows: the resulting triangle must be taken by the sharpest end and shaken with a sharp movement of the hand.
Air will escape from the figure, causing a characteristic popping sound.
