How to make origami from paper that move?
It is very common for small children to use origami crafts as toys. That is why it is important that the crafts move or have separate moving elements. The most common options are the frog and the hare, since they can be made bouncing. In addition to the classic options, there are many other simple, but interesting origami schemes.
Do-it-yourself movable frog
The jumping frog is very common in origami. It is best to make such a craft from a dense material. Ideal - thin cardboard... If folded from thin colored paper, the frog will not jump, since the material does not spring.
The classic color is green, but it is permissible to make a more fun or even exotic pink (or any other) frog.
The process of making a mobile frog consists of the following stages.
- It is necessary to take a rectangular cardboard and position it towards you on one of the short sides. Next, on the top, you need to fold the classic model of a water bomb.
- Both sharp corners must be bent outward and upward. In this case, even a minimum gap should not be present between the "spouts".
- Bend the outer vertical edges to the line in the same direction so that so that they converge at a pointwhere the forelegs of the future frog begin.
- Then you need to bend the bottom edge of the structure. And the top edge must be folded down and back. At this stage, the most important spring element should be formed, which will replace the frog's hind legs.
- The final version of the animal should be the same as shown in the picture.
In order to set the structure in motion, you need to put your finger on the back, press it against the surface and slide back. From such actions, the frog will jump up and forward.
Making a jumping hare
In the same way, it is easy and simple to make another movable toy using the origami technique - a jumping hare. Before you start creating a composition, you need to prepare all the necessary materials. There are few of them:
- a square sheet of double-sided colored cardboard (you can choose the color yellow, gray, orange or any to your taste);
- black marker or felt-tip pen.
The manufacturing process consists of several stages.
- First you need to put a sheet of cardboard on the table. It is better if its size is 12 by 12 cm. The center line should be marked on it. Next, you need to direct the two sides of the square to it so that you get a rectangle. And then the same rectangle must be bent to make a square shutter. This is clearly displayed.
- The previous fold can now be reversed, and on this surface, by raising the corners, you need to select the isosceles triangles.
- Next, you need to create two isosceles triangles. The corners must be lowered down and smoothed out the resulting workpiece.
- At this stage, the corner should be returned to the opposite side again.
- The upper corner of this corner must be lifted and bent back, and only then the entire structure must be expanded.
- To highlight the ears of the future bunny, you need to fold the paper.
- At the final stage, you need to raise the structure and unfold the side folds. Make another bend, and raise the ears up.
- Lower the tips of the ears back.
Now you can move on to the decorative part of the work. So, you will need to use a prepared marker or felt-tip pen. With the help of it you need to draw the face of the animal. The construction is ready.
More ideas
The frog and bunny are undeniably the most popular figures. But, besides them, you can make other toys for children 5-6 years old. Figures will also have movable elements.
So, from paper of black or dark gray color, you can make a croaking crow. To make this figure, in the same way as in the previous version, you need a square of black cardboard. The work consists in going through several steps to fold the prepared sheet.
- The sheet must be folded diagonally, first in half, and then in the same direction, but already four times.
- You will need to fold both double edges to the centerline of the fold.
- The valves must be folded upwards at the corners. In this case, the edges of the new valves should be parallel to the lower horizontal edge of the entire structure to be created.
- The model must be carefully opened. At this stage, you should not make sudden movements, since the material can simply be torn. And the disclosure is necessary in order to be able to see the inner layer of the paper.
- The inner layer needs to be pulled slightly. This should be done exactly until the entire inner valve is outside the structure.
- Now the entire model needs to be well smoothed so that it is as flat as possible.
- Next, you need to bend one layer of the top corner as much as possible.
- Now unfold the structure with a convex fold forward, focusing on a horizontal line.
The croaking crow, folded using origami technique, is completely ready.
If a croaking crow, a bunny and a frog are more suitable for girls, then the boys will be interested in first folding, and then playing with another composition, which is called a "clapperboard".
Its design is also based on a spring, but the manufacturing process is significantly different from the previous ones.
The cracker technique also consists of several stages.
- You need to take a sheet of A4 paper. You need to bend it along, and then tuck the upper half to the center line.
- The upper part of the structure should be folded in half more. And at the corners of the upper part, you need to make two marks - crosses or circles. The marks are necessary in order to determine the area to which you should stick with your fingers when using the future clapper.
- Then the product needs to be turned over to the other side and bend, but already in the transverse direction.
- Now we need to position the product so that the marks made are located at the bottom left. Holding on to the right side, you need to expand the left corner and connect the opposite sides.
- Now, between the fingers of one hand, you should firmly grip the future cracker and lower your hand sharply so that the inner valves are straightened.
An important point: If the previous movable origami models were made of thin cardboard, then paper is more suitable for the cracker.
With every movement of the hand in which the cracker is located, the product should emit a sharp pop. This toy will be great fun primarily for boys, but it will be no less interesting for girls. In addition, crackers can be made for a birthday or any other children's party.
