Folding origami in the form of a paper doll

Japanese origami dolls can be both very simple, accessible to children in their manufacturing algorithm, and complex and elegant works. You should start with a simple one, because it is almost impossible to master origami from a running start.

Everything is easy, but the process is not the fastest. The doll girl has three parts: body, head and legs. And each part will have to be folded separately.

What you need to work:

• yellow one-sided colored paper (for the head);
• red one-sided paper (for body and dress);
• pink / beige single-sided paper (for the legs);
• sticky eyes (better moving);
• felt-tip pens, glue.

The origami doll is done in stages as follows.

• You need to make 3 square pieces of paper. For the head, the square of a centimeter should be 2-3 less. The yellow square needs to be folded in half to the corner, then in half. Cross lines will become noticeable (however, one transverse will also come down).

• The paper must be turned with the corner up and with the white side towards you, and then bend the corner towards the center of the square.

• The paper is folded in half along the fold to form a triangle.

• At one distance from the middle of the apex, the corners are bent down: right and left. They bend symmetrically.

• The head must be rounded, bending back the corners on the sides, the lower light corner of the face too. Eyes and a smile stick. The head is done.

• The section for the body is 2-3 cm larger than the head. Double-sided paper can also be used. Highlighting with color is not needed: the dress will be in one shade.The paper must be folded in half so that the triangle comes out. A fold is formed.

• The paper is turned with a corner up so that the fold is perpendicular, going from top to bottom. The two sides of the figure in the lower part must be bent inward, and then aligned along the fold.

• The upper corner also folds over. The lower one goes up, it is pressed. The corner becomes the neck.

• The right side is bent along the right side of the corner. Then the left one. The dress is ready.

• The single-sided leg paper should be folded in half, side to side. A rectangle will come out, white inside. It must be opened, a small fold made at the bottom, defining the doll's shoes.

• Turn the paper over, fold the right and left sides, aligning with the main fold.

• It remains only to glue the parts of the doll to each other.

The doll is ready, you can play or decorate with it, for example, a postcard.

A very interesting option is "bookmark girls" (shiori ninge). The doll turns out to be beautiful, and also multifunctional. Traditionally, these dolls do not have a face. The usual "bookmark girl" is created from several layers of paper, which have different colors and patterns, which imitates a doll's outfit.

Consider a master class on the stage-by-stage design of shiori-ninge.

1. It will be easier to download a pattern from the Internet. The work will not be so voluminous, and it will be possible to create a doll quickly. If so, then the head of the pupa must be cut out, glued to cardboard (this way the paper structure will gain additional strength).
2. A dense part must be laid between the two elements of the pattern, which become the face and back of the doll's head.
3. If you want to combine origami with a different kind of creativity, you can not print the doll, but completely do it yourself. For example, iris threads will be used for hair.
4. A do-it-yourself collar can be made from a long and folded paper strip. It is located in the middle of the neck, is brought forward, folding crosswise. The ends can be aligned.
5. The kimono square is folded on one side by half a centimeter... Then he is located inside out to himself, on top of the doll's head. The top corner of the kimono is folded to form a V-neck. The other side folds in the same way. The collar should protrude from the neckline. Details are glued together. The remaining edges must be tucked up.
6. The figurine is wrapped with a belt... It is necessary to cut out two semicircles, bend in half: these will be the sleeves of the kimono. They are glued at the back.

The variant turns out to be luxurious!

The most famous paper doll characters in Japan are probably obina and mebina. Obina is a male doll, mebina is a female one.

Here are some tips for making Japanese dolls.

• The combined models are very interesting: for example, the base will be a wooden ice cream stick, on which the head of a doll with a haircut will be glued (it can be made from black velvet paper). But the doll's kimono will be the main origami element of the craft, and it is very convenient to make it from large beautiful napkins. The doll can be a wonderful pendant.

• You can use a variety of paper to create figures: craft, crepe, gift, even paper candy wrappers. So the doll's outfit will be more festive, solemn, and the work itself will become more attractive.

Also a good option would be printed colored paper, today it is actively sold, and the variety is impressive. Usually one side of it is monochromatic, the other - with a pattern. This completely covers the need for material for origami dolls.
