Modular origami is a special technique of folding figures, which provides for preliminary modeling of the required number of blank parts. A certain craft is assembled from these details. The technique is not the easiest one, it requires a lot of free time. In today's article, we will learn all the fun about modular origami.

Peculiarities

The modular origami technique allows you to create very original volumetric figures of any kind. Often, high-quality crafts of this kind are used as creative decorations for interior compositions.

By itself, modular technology involves a large number of necessary operations.... The assembly of a particular figurine turns out to be impossible until a sufficient number of the necessary paper blanks have been made. The latter are in the form of triangles, which are placed one inside the other. According to this principle, the entire planned figure is assembled. Often, such operations take a lot of time.

For children, the modular origami technique is relatively complex. It is best for parents to help their child create such a figurine.

First of all, this applies to those cases when it is necessary to assemble a large number of parts-modules. It will be extremely difficult for a young origamist to carry out all the actions alone.

Modeling the paper crafts in question not only arouses interest among little craftsmen, but also has a beneficial effect on many indicators... Firstly, due to creative procedures within the framework of modular origami technique, the child's fine motor skills are actively developing.Secondly, modeling figures with the involvement of the rest of the family will certainly lead to the strengthening of family and trusting relationships.

In the modular origami technique, you can make almost any kind of figure. It can be animals, plants, fantastic heroes, or even characters from famous cartoons. There are a lot of options. Each origamist can choose a suitable scheme for assembly, which will interest him more than others.

How is modular different from classic?

The main difference between the known techniques is that in the classical method, the figurine is assembled directly from a piece of paper, and the modular version is assembled from pre-assembled triangular parts. Modular technology is considered more complex than the classic... In accordance with it, glue is used much more often, since it can be used to more reliably fix individual parts of a single modular design. When creating a classic origami, glue components are used much less often, since there is almost never a special need for them.

DIY schemes

There are many simple and straightforward modular origami schemes suitable for beginners. If you strictly adhere to the step-by-step instructions, it will be possible to model beautiful interior decorations, decorations for a wedding (or other holidays / celebrations). Let's take a closer look at some interesting master classes on creating beautiful modular crafts.

globe

A globe made using the modular origami technique will look very beautiful and original. For such a craft, you will need to make large quantities of triangular parts. In total, 1063 modular blanks will need to be made. Of them:

  • 722 - in blue;
  • 304 - in green;
  • 37 - in white.

The assembly of the structure should start with the white modular components. Such details are assembled orderly with fixation by means of 3 snow-white wreaths.

The result should be 3 rows of details:

  • 1 row - consists of 12 white elements;
  • 2 - from a similar number of white modules;
  • 3 - of 12 white and 2 blue components.

Already in the 4th row, the number of modular parts will need to be increased. The assembly should proceed in the same way as in the diagram. Thus, it is necessary to collect from 7 to 30 rows, correctly alternating the arrangement and the number of triangular blanks. You should act strictly in accordance with the scheme.

After assembling the 30th row, the globe figure will be almost complete. All that remains is to make a stand for him. There are many options for how to make this component. The easiest to perform will be a wooden stand on which the globe can rotate freely.

Egg

In accordance with the modular technique, a very beautiful Easter egg can be made. This will require such a number of modular components:

  • 197 pure white components;
  • 411 - yellow;
  • 381 - red.

When all the parts are ready, you will need to start assembling the Easter egg with the yellow elements. They must be connected like a chain, closed by a ring. Having collected 2 rows, you need to go to 3. Here you can already alternate yellow modules with red ones. In the next row, you will need to build up 2 more elements in each of the gaps. As a result, the number of modules will be 16. The next rows should be collected with alternating colors. It will be necessary to increase the number of triangles again. Starting from the 7th tier, it is necessary to form the designation "XB" by means of white modules. The assembly of the structure must be continued to the very top.

After that, you need to come up with a stand for a modular craft. To do this, it is enough to make a chain, closed in a ring of modules of yellow and white colors.

The stand can be made small, or it can be multi-tiered using a large number of paper triangles.

Candy bowl

Paper triangles can make a very original and elegant candy bowl. In accordance with one of the popular schemes, it will be necessary to prepare such a number of modular components:

  • 564 modules - total;
  • 336 - pink components;
  • 228 - green.

The size of the triangles is 1/32 of an A4 sheet.

Collecting candy will be as follows.

  • From 1 to 7, the crown must be fastened together so that there are 32 pink elements in each row.
  • Next, you need to make 16 parts, assembled from 6 green modules. You need to put them on pink elements one after another.
  • For each green part, 2 pink parts are attached.
  • Green is worn on the middle pink corners.
  • After that, you should proceed to the assembly of the arched-type connection. One row will be assembled from pink components, and the second from green.
  • We need to make 16 of these arches, after which the original candy bowl will be ready!

Matryoshka

A modular nesting doll figure can be assembled using triangular blanks of various colors and shades. The craft can be very bright, showing several rich colors. For example, an attractive product will come out of the following components:

  • 303 blue modules;
  • 96 - red;
  • 86 - white;
  • 12 - yellow;
  • 255 - green;
  • 45 - beige.

When all the necessary details are ready, you will need to start making a nesting doll figure. You should start with the first row, assembled from 25 blue modules. Thus, the figure is assembled further with alternating fixation of the triangles with the long or shortened side. In the 4th row, you need to add 5 red elements, giving the workpiece the shape of a bowl. The assembly continues up to 6 rows, where you will need to add 1 snow-white triangle. In the 7th row, you need to install a pair of white modules, 3 red modules on each side and 19 blue components.

Further assembly of a bright structure should be continued strictly according to the scheme. In total, you should get 32 rows of paper triangles, after which you can close the top of the matryoshka. In conclusion, the eyes and mouth are glued to the face of the figures.

Callas

Using the modular origami technique, you can make extraordinarily beautiful flowers - calla lilies. For the first time, you can make a very small flower, and later try to make a larger copy.

To assemble a beautiful plant, you need so many modular parts:

  • 350 - white;
  • 50 - yellow;
  • 60 - green;
  • 240 - green (for leaves);
  • 120 - beige.

The assembly of the flower begins with fixing the snow-white modules. They should form an elongated shape that resembles an oval.... From about 15 rows, it will be possible to add yellow triangles to the design. They are used to frame the wide part of the snow-white flower. Also, from the indicated elements, it will be necessary to collect a stamen.

From green modules, fastened in order, it will be necessary to make a stalk and a wide leaf. Finished parts must be connected to each other. For added security, you can use glue

This process is illustrated in the following video.

Eight

To collect a bright and beautiful figure eight, you will need to prepare:

  • 456 yellow components;
  • 205 green triangles.

The size of the modules should be standard - 1/16.

From the finished components, the figure "8" is assembled. You need to start with the yellow modules fixed in the first row. From the 3rd crown, you will need to start folding the pattern, which will be repeated 4 times in the future. Certain rows in the pattern should be curved (6-9). The assembly of the figure should be continued clearly according to the diagram in the photo. It will be possible to fix individual parts of the craft using toothpicks. You can also use additional glue.

The finished figure can be placed on a pedestal made in the form of the word "March". This component of the craft can also be made from modules.

snowman

Paper triangles can make a cool snowman. To build it you will need:

  • 946 white modular components;
  • 154 - green;
  • 22 - yellow.

From 1 to 3 rows, 34 white triangles are fixed.3 rows of modules must be closed in a ring. The craft is turned over, and then 6 more modular components are added to the 4th crown. In total, there should be 40 modules in a row. Next, you need to continue to lay out the figure in the same mode.

To assemble the head of a snowman, you need to install 36 triangles in each row. The mouth, eyebrows and eyes can be made from black flagella made from corrugated paper. The nose will turn out to be a red cone. The hat can be made from modules, arranged in 8 rows of 22 pieces. All ready-made components will need to be combined into one structure.

Samovar

A modular origami in the form of a chubby samovar can be assembled from 1003 modules with a size of 1/32. You can use triangles of any color you like. For example, it can be gold or yellow details. When assembling the product, you can adhere to a height of 20 cm and a width of 15 cm.

Here, as in many other cases, it is necessary to fasten the modules to each other, forming crowns. Triangles of other colors can be added. Only in this case, you still need to make a couple of handles and a spout. All finished components are held together. You can use glue.

You will find a master class on making a samovar using the modular origami technique in the next video.

Astronaut

An astronaut figurine can be made from 218 ready-made modules of any color you like. You can use several colors at once. So, the modular figurine made up of blue, white and black triangles will turn out to be interesting. Of course, you can turn to other options. Assembling the paper astronaut can be easily done according to the diagram.

See the following video for visual assembly instructions.

Dragonfly

To model a dragonfly figurine, you can use modular components made not only from green paper.

If you want to make a more original craft, then it makes sense to turn to a combination of other bright shades.

A neat and simple figurine can be assembled from 3 A4 sheets, cut into 16 triangles. Of the latter, only 40 modules will be obtained. This will be enough to simulate a structure consisting of a base and 4 wing beams extending from it.

Table lamp

A table lamp made using the modular origami technique can become a creative and very bright decoration for any interior. To assemble such an original craft, you will need to prepare many modules: about 1000 red, green and blue, 2000 yellow. The size of the triangles should be 1/32. It is recommended to take a cardboard circle under the leg of the product.

The formed triangles will need to be fastened to each other in order, making both contractions and extensions, as reflected in the diagram. The leg of the craft must be supported by some kind of stable tube. Through it it will be possible to pass wires in order to subsequently use the craft as a functional component for its intended purpose.

You cannot insert an ordinary light bulb into the finished structure so that the paper does not overheat.

Separately from the leg, a plafond is made, the first row of which should consist of 60 modular elements.

Other

Crafts made using the modular origami technique can be completely different. You can use complicated schemes and make such figures as a cobra, a fireman, an eternal flame, a clown, Madonna, heroes of fairy tales and cartoons. Of course, it is desirable to make such products, having at least minimal experience and knowledge of the basics of modular papermaking..

Also, from modular components, an origamist can assemble a cool strawberry figurine. There are many ways to model this berry. For example, you can assemble a figurine from 59 red modules. To make a leaf, 7 or 13 green triangles should be prepared.

First you need to collect the bases in 3 rows. Each of them should have 13 modules. In the 2nd and 3rd rows, the last details will be the closing ones. The rows are connected in a ring.Next, the workpiece is turned inside out, another row of 13 triangles is put on. For the final crown, you will need to take 7 more modules, attached through one. All the details are brought together. The green components must be inserted into the pockets of the starter ring.

Creation of paintings

Original modular origami can be made in the form of beautiful paintings. To create such crafts, it is also necessary to prepare a sufficient number of paper triangles to form this or that image in a single combination. The result should be a flat product in the form of a picture. There will be no additional volume, as in standard modular versions.

When modeling creative modular origami paintings, all the components are collected not in the form of crown rings, but only in the form of rows passing one into another. It is easier for some masters to make origami in the form of paintings, while others prefer the production of volumetric models.
