The origami modeling technique, which allows you to create a wide variety of figurines, is very popular. The fact is that to create any homemade products, the master does not need to prepare a large number of components and tools. The most important element that will need to be used is paper.

There are several types of paper in the form of squares or rectangles that can be used to form beautiful volumetric origami figures.

• White paper for the printer. This material is the best solution for the origami technique. This paper is characterized by a high level of density, has a rough surface, and excellent shape retention.
• Colored printer paper. This material is not subject to abrasion at the folds. This paper is very widely used when modeling various figures using the modular origami technique.
• Stickers. This name belongs to the small-sized multi-colored leaves, which are also very well suited for creating various crafts.
• Colored paper for creativity. If you plan to create a high-quality volumetric origami figurine, then such material should not be used. The problem is that this type of paper is too thin and soft, it becomes white at the folds.
• Foil paper sheets. They are distinguished by high density and durability. Complex and intricate compositions can be made from them.The material is suitable for curling.
• Sheets from magazines. Not a bad option for making origami figurines. This type of paper is quite dense, easily folds, keeps its shape well.
• Banknotes. They can also be used, but for creating small crafts. Often these items are presented as an original gift.
• Special origami paper. Implemented as sets. It can be multi-colored, with various patterns. There are also specimens with different textures.
• Tracing paper. It can be suitable for modeling the simplest options for novice craftsmen. It is recommended to use tracing paper as a test material.

Before proceeding with the independent creation of an original volumetric origami figure, it is advisable to find out the general principles of folding the selected paper using the example of modular options.

• Absolutely any type of volumetric design begins with the creation of the main module. Classic options are made triangular. To give the material this shape, it is folded in half along the longer side, and the upper corners are tucked towards the center point.
• All existing protrusions are folded back first and then up. The corners must be folded into the inner part.
• The part is bent both vertically and horizontally. This should be done so that the pocket is located on the outside. As a result, you should get a triangular blank.
• When the modules for the formation of a volumetric type figure are ready, they need to be correctly connected to each other. The simplest varieties of origami are collected literally from one sheet.
• The assembly scheme for beautiful structures is very simple. It is enough to insert each module into the pocket of the adjacent element. All elements are securely held by friction of subsequent locking parts.
• The classic way to create volumetric origami figures involves attaching modules by fitting the two previous blanks onto the pocket on the pointed corners.

The volumetric origami technique allows you to create figures of various variations. There are a huge number of interesting schemes with which you can use your own hands to model various numbers, letters, animals, birds, castles, houses and so on from paper.

For novice craftsmen who are still little familiar with the origami technique, there are the most simple and understandable schemes for modeling voluminous homemade products. For example, it can be figurines in the shape of an apple, a pumpkin, or an asterisk.

Consider the instructions for making a beautiful and simple three-dimensional figurine of a green apple on your own. To carry out the work, it is necessary to prepare paper of two colors - light green and grassy. From the first material, you need to cut a square, one side of which is 21 cm. You will also need to cut a 7x7 cm square from the second sheet of paper.

• First you need to fold the base shape of the future craft. It should be a pentagon divided into 10 equal sections. To do this, you can use the detailed diagram.
• The resulting pentagon will need to be opened. All 5 diagonals that connect the tops of the figure need to be folded in a mountain. It is necessary to distribute 2 sections to the right and 3 to the left. This is needed to get an isosceles triangle.
• The workpiece is placed in front of you, the corner is folded on the right, leveling it along the axis in the center.
• Next, the next triangle is opened. It needs to be folded in the same way. It is necessary to move clockwise until all corners from the bottom are bent on all 5 sections.
• Wrinkles will need to be carefully ironed out. The reliability of the structure in the future will depend on this.
• We need to take the last section. It is turned with the folded half down, and then the top is folded.
• For the remaining 4 sections, you will need to carry out the same manipulations. Then it is necessary to make fasteners, thanks to which the paper apple will not fall apart after filling with air.
• Open a small triangle and bend its free top.
• Next, the workpiece must be folded in the same order. The triangle on the side will need to be opened like a pocket and an unoccupied top should be placed there (as when connecting a thorn-groove).
• In this way, all available sections are fixed. At the same distance from each other, their distribution will be required.
• The workpiece must be brought to the mouth and blown into the existing hole. After that, the craft will acquire the required volume. It is necessary to check the quality of filling of all valves. Correct the depressions, if any.
• Now you need to make a ponytail with a green leaf. To do this, take a dark green square, bend it diagonally. Draw a half of a leaf and cut out its outline.
• Then the sheet is folded again, the top is folded obliquely. After a small indent, another fold is formed. This should be done before filling out the entire sheet.
• The finished part is inserted into the hole through which the bull's-eye was inflated. From dark green paper, you can cut a long triangular strip and twist it into a flagellum. This element will become the apple ponytail. The sheet and the tail will need to be glued.

There are many more complex schemes for making bulk homemade products. Often in this way, craftsmen make different animals, for example, a cat, a kangaroo, a penguin, a whale, and so on.

Let's look at how to make a complex chicken figurine using the modular origami technique.

• You will need to make 221 yellow modules, 343 white modules, 1 red module for the bird's beak.
• First you need to close the circle of the first 16 yellow modules.
• The starting row should be extended with 4 of 16 yellow pieces.
• Then 6 more rows are collected. The modules should be directed with the hypotenuse outward.
• When the body of the chicken is done, the wings need to be made. Each of them is made of 6 yellow modules. First, connect the first 3, and then the next 2 modules and the last 1 module.
• The wings are fixed on the sides of the body, making the same distances. Insert the beak part in the center.
• Collect the shells. For this, a ring of 16 white parts is closed. 4 more rows of 14 white elements are added on top. In the 5th and 6th rows, 7 modules are added.
• The top of the shell is made from 3 rows in module 8. The 4th row is increased by another 16 parts.
• You can make chicken eyes out of paper and glue them to the finished body. After attaching the shell, a beautiful craft using the modular origami technique will be ready.
