Making origami in the shape of a star
Paper crafts are not necessarily an attribute of any holiday or event - May 9 or February 23. They can be created simply to brighten up your leisure time, as a hobby. In addition, origami is suitable for any age, it develops thinking, imagination, memory and artistic taste well. Stars can be made of white or colored paper, painted, supplemented with suitable drawings.
Simple options
The simplest way to create a volumetric star is as follows:
- cut out the corresponding figure from paper;
- bend from the top of each ray to the opposite corner;
- unfold, give shape, bending the intermediate folds in the opposite direction.
You can make such an asterisk without first cutting it out, but more attention is needed:
- we take a square as a basis (with sides of 21 cm), fold it in half;
- bend the resulting rectangle in half again and unfold;
- we start from one of the sides (for example, from the right) - bend it diagonally, mark the middle;
- to the marked middle, bend the lower corner on the other side, and turn its corner to the fold, aligning the edges;
- turn the remaining free lower corner upwards so as to combine the lower edge and the fold in the middle of the workpiece - in this place it must be folded in half (with the back side inward);
- turn up the side with which we began to work;
- bend the right angle of the lower triangle, combine the edges, unbend, mark the fold line;
- cut off along the marked line;
- gently unfold, give shape, kneading the folds with our hands alternately on the front and back sides.
If a less convex sprocket is needed, the following scheme can be used:
- a square sheet of colored paper (for example, with sides of 14 cm) must be bent in half on both sides and unfold back;
- then turn over to the wrong side, fold twice diagonally and unfold again;
- wrap the sides inward, align the top and bottom edges;
- fold the right and left sides of the top layer to the center, bend back - two folds will be outlined;
- bend the right side to the intended left fold, bend it, do the same on the opposite side - you get 4 folds;
- each side must be folded along the first fold (which is closer to the center) and folded along the second;
- repeat the same on the reverse side, make sure that the corners below are neat and sharp, and there is no gap in the middle;
- bend the two corners of the top layer 1.5 cm down, smooth out the fold and align the resulting square.
This side is the wrong side, and the back is the front.
The so-called stars of happiness are very popular, on which you can write wishes or use for decoration. To create them, you need strips 1 cm long, which can be cut from a regular sheet of paper of a suitable color. How to do:
- wind one of the edges of the strip from below under the other so that a loop is obtained, and then stretch into it and tighten;
- smooth out the folds, bend the short edge back;
- wrap the remaining long part around the workpiece, working through the folds;
- hide the remaining free edge under one of the turns;
- alternately press on the center of each side of the resulting pentagon to make it three-dimensional;
- with your fingers, give the necessary outlines, as far as the paper allows, form the corners.
How to make a modular craft?
A star can be made from modules - parts that are connected to each other. This will allow not only to deviate from the traditional form, but also to create a craft with 6, 12 and even 16 rays. In addition, the modular star can be truly unique due to the unusual color combination of the components.
Of course, it's better to start with a five-pointed star. One of the options for folding the modules is quite simple for her:
- fold the square from corner to corner (diagonally), unfold, combine two opposite sides with the resulting fold;
- turn over to the opposite side, fold the resulting parallelogram diagonally, bend the lower triangles on both sides.
For a star, you need 5 of the same modules - to fix them, it is enough to dock according to the diagram and bend the edges.
To make a more complex, multi-colored craft, you must follow the step-by-step instructions:
- each module should be based on a square, the size of which depends on the planned size of the craft - it must be bent diagonally, marking the center;
- then bend all corners to the center point;
- bend two adjacent sides, aligning them with the diagonal;
- wrap the short part back in the resulting elongated rhombus;
- fold the workpiece in half;
- in total, you need to make 16 modules, which are connected to each other using side "pockets" at the bottom.
One of the main modules for origami is triangular.
They can be inserted into each other in rows and make shapes that are unusual in their appearance. For example, for a star of medium complexity, you will need 125 triangular modules in yellow and 80 in red. A step-by-step scheme for creating these parts:
- fold a rectangular leaf in half, first along and then across;
- bend the side parts down, joining them in the middle;
- raise the protruding bottom edges up;
- wrap the corners through the sides of the triangle, unbend them and the lower edges raised earlier;
- fold the corners along the intended folds and raise the edges up (the corners will be inside);
- bend in half (so that there are two pockets inside).
After all the modules are made, you can start assembling the beams. We collect 6 yellow modules in a row, in each subsequent row there will be 1 less of them.We get a yellow ray, in which you need to make a red border. After 5 beams are made, you need to make 5 structures from three series-connected yellow modules (one after the other). Five modules should be located in the center in a circle, the sides of the neighboring ones must be connected with pre-assembled structures. Beams are attached to the resulting middle (between the third and fourth modules of the first row). With the remaining red blanks, you need to connect the sides of the edge border details. If everything is done correctly, the star holds well and does not need additional fixation.
Useful Tips
- You only need paper to create classic or modular origami. For beginners, a regular office A4 format or even a notebook sheet is suitable. But in order for the craft to be neat and retain its shape, it is better to use special origami sheets.
- For practicing origami skills for preschoolers or children for older people, it is better to start with simple master classes, with clear algorithms, in a few easy and understandable steps.
- All origami craft diagrams combine conventions - types of lines and actions (bend, straighten, turn, combine, and others). Knowing this, you can understand the algorithms without knowing the language, use the experience of people from other countries.
- Simple stars can be collected using a phased scheme. In more complex versions, the instruction begins with one of the basic figures that it is desirable to know so as not to waste time looking for additional information.
- For beginners, it is better to take a larger sheet as a basis., since it is easier to get confused in small details. For the same reason, in the process of work, you should not turn the workpiece once again.
- Particular attention should be paid to joints, corners and folds. - it is on them that the presentable appearance of the final figure depends.
Each fold must be ironed especially carefully along its entire length.
