Military equipment in origami style
Currently, origami remains one of the most popular types of crafts due to its ease of execution and affordability. Almost all children from the elementary grades know how to fold boats that can be launched in puddles, and airplanes that fly. These are the simplest examples of origami crafts, but there are also more complex ones depicting military equipment: combat aircraft, tanks and ships. Boys like to fold them out of office or colored paper and give them as a gift to their elders on the Defender of the Fatherland holiday or Victory Day.
F-15 fighter folding
The American flagship of carrier-based fighters has been known since the 70s of the last century under the name "hornet", it is still one of the most successful versions of combat maneuverable aircraft.
Multifunctional F-15 fighters make up about 70% of America's entire air force, and are also considered the main combat aircraft of the armies of Canada, Australia, Finland and other NATO countries.
Expressiveness, lightness and dynamic appearance of the hornet fighter make it one of the most attractive models for army graphics and fans of origami. A miniature and original craft can be an excellent gift or decoration for your personal collection of army-themed crafts.
Making origami of an F-15 airplane from paper is not very difficult - you just need to follow the sequential steps:
prepare a sheet of colored or office paper for work;
fold it in half, marking the longitudinal middle, and then open it;
bend the upper right corner of the sheet to the left edge and open it again, repeat this action with the opposite side;
then the sheet must be bent at the intersection of the resulting diagonal lines and straightened again;
the resulting fold lines help to gather the upper part of the sheet into a "water bomb" shape;
then you need to turn the sheet over with the reverse side, and bend the resulting figure down, towards you;
the lower right corner is folded so that it adjoins the center line on the paper, we do the same operation with the left side;
for the resulting bent triangles, the inner corners must be tucked up to the lateral sides;
turning the sheet over again, fold the extreme points to the center, and bring the bent corners to the opposite side;
turning the paper, it is necessary to raise the entire lower part so that it covers the figure of the bomb;
the aircraft model folds in half and the wings and inner valve are lowered;
the folded corners can be slightly bent - this is how we get the cockpit of the fighter;
finally, you need to straighten out all the details, and the origami is ready.
If this is a gift option, then you can make a model from a banknote, doing the same sequential manipulations with a banknote as with a sheet of paper.
How to make the M1A1 Abrams tank?
The process of folding tanks using the origami technique can be no less exciting for beginners. One of the most popular tracked military vehicles in the world is the American M1A1 Abrams tank. The features of its design are due to the strategic purpose of this technology at the height of the Cold War in the 70s and 80s of the last century, when it entered service with many European armies as a defensive weapon against alleged attacks from the socialist bloc.
The last time military equipment, still one of the top most equipped tank vehicles in the world, was upgraded in 2019, when electronic ammunition was added to the multilayer armor.
With imagination, especially for children, you can create a play army out of paper and paint it in khaki colors. Work begins in the same way as in the previous example. The difference is that "water bombs" are made from two opposite sides of a sheet of A4 paper. Then, lifting the upper parts of the resulting triangles on each side, the sides are folded in three layers along the length - these are the future caterpillars. After that, diamonds are made from each triangle of the bomb by bending their edges towards the middle. Having received two double square rhombuses, you should turn the tank blank with the reverse side and bend one of them towards you. Then placing the workpiece sideways, you need to connect its ends, while tucking the upper wings of one of the square rhombuses into the pockets of the other. The caterpillars can be given a somewhat oval shape, and the trunk can be made using a strip of paper wrapped around a round base, such as a pencil. The turret of the tank can be inflated for volume and the barrel can be inserted into it.
More ideas
Many children and adults are interested in studying and making with their own hands numerous origami crafts on the topic of weapons. Using simple paper and light schemes for work, any beginner can create a whole arsenal of rare rapiers, swords, unique types of weapons from the historical literature of different countries and peoples.
One of the simplest examples - even for preschoolers - is the star used by the eastern ninja warriors. With such a paper toy, you can not be afraid for the safety of children while playing. For work, you will need sheets of colored thick paper of two tones. They must be cut into four equal squares and identical modular fragments must be prepared. From each square, a triangular figure is folded into four layers, and then all the parts are sequentially assembled, folding the triangles in half and threading together the narrow ends of each of them into the wide ones. No glue or tape is required to connect the parts, since each subsequent triangle firmly tightens the ends of the previous one, leaving sharp sprocket outlets.
Fans of tabletop battles can make copies of the most expressive and interesting military equipment, where the accuracy of the image can only depend on the wishes of the performer. Any type of weapon can be created from sheets of paper: sabers, katanas, machine guns, cannons and grenade launchers. Using ready-made schemes from the Internet, it will turn out to achieve significant similarity of origami crafts with real samples. Experts recommend making models of such volumetric figures as pistols, cannons or tanks based on rolls of cardboard. They successfully perform the role of barrels through which you can even shoot, blowing out paper bullets. At the same time, paper squares, triangles and rhombuses are made, from which, as from modules, the remaining parts of the weapons are made.
A cowboy pistol for games can be made using the origami technique from cardboard tubes and thick paper. Two tubes can represent a double-barreled type of weapon, and they can be connected with one strip of paper folded in half for density. The paper strip is placed from below under both trunks, then obliquely, through the top, its two ends are threaded down. Thus, the barrels are caught by a folded sheet extending downward at the level of the pistol grip. The handle can then be reinforced with additional square pieces on both sides.
Origami crafts can be colored and covered with foil to make them look more like metal crafts. But the main feature of paper weapons is that its arsenal can be increased without restrictions and special costs.
