Making origami in the form of a giraffe
The origami technique allows you to create a variety of interesting and beautiful crafts from paper. They are often used as interior decorations. Today we'll talk about how to make an origami giraffe.
Simple option for kids
To begin with, we will analyze the simplest way to create such a craft. The step-by-step manufacturing process will include several separate steps.
- You need to prepare a square sheet of paper with dimensions of 15x15 centimeters. One-sided material can be used. You should start from the wrong side. The square blank is bent along a diagonal strip and then opened back.
- The left and right edges fold to the marked diagonal line. The figure is bent in the center of the "valley".
- The workpiece is rotated approximately 45 degrees. The left side opens from the inside, a reverse fold is made, the edges are bent outward.
- The bent parts are pressed in, the sharp corner is folded at an angle of 90 degrees. This will separate the neck from the head of the animal.
- The tip is brought into the inner part with a back fold.
- The right side is bent in a zigzag shape to form the back of the giraffe.
- The angle is brought out to form the tail of the animal.
- In the lower part, a rectangle is cut through all the layers of the workpiece at once, legs are obtained. The finished paper craft will be an excellent decorative decoration for your home.
Consider another simple option that might work for your child. Manufacturing will also include several stages.
- First, you will need to prepare a square paper base with dimensions of 21x21 centimeters. Then its edges are bent towards the central part. The workpiece is bent in half by the "mountain".
- The resulting strip is divided into two equal parts by folding. All this is neatly revealed.
- Next, the left side is folded, you will also need to pull the formed valve up a little, and fold the workpiece in the longitudinal direction.
- The edge on the left is bent, the figure is pressed, then the steps taken are repeated with the other side.
- The giraffe's head is slightly lowered down. On the back, all folding is repeated.
- On the ears of the animal, folds are made in the form of zigzags. They will then open from the inside.
- The lower edges are folded in a "mountain", the same is done with the reverse side.
- The thickness of the neck should be slightly reduced by making a reverse fold.
- The bottom edge is aligned so that the finished shape can be stable.
At the final stage, you can separately draw the animal's eyes with a dark felt-tip pen or pencil.
Complex scheme
Next, we will analyze a more complex option for creating such a giraffe. It includes the following steps.
- A square paper sheet is prepared. Most often, this base is cut from a standard A4 sheet. You can immediately pick up paper packaging with a characteristic print. Diagonal lines will need to be drawn on the material. To do this, the material is bent so that its opposite corners come together. It is also necessary to outline horizontal and vertical stripes, straighten the paper and place it in front of you.
- After that, a standard "double square" origami shape is formed. The left corner is removed to the inside. The same is done with the right side, while you need to carefully iron all the corners. The result should be a rhombus.
- Next, the product is placed in front of itself so that the free ends are at the bottom. After that, you need to form a triangle with a vertex that will be directed downward. For this, the lateral outer sides are bent to the middle. The triangle is straightened.
- Later it will be necessary to remove to the inside of the fold line. The lower end is lifted up.
- The workpiece will need to be turned, while changing the purl and front parts. All actions with folding a triangular figure are repeated again, you will also need to bend the corner inward again. As a result of these actions, you should get a two-layer rhombus.
- After that, the paper base is laid out in such a way that a figure in the form of a four-pointed star is obtained. In this case, all lines of bends must be clearly visible.
- Then the apex in the center is pressed into the interior, where there is an intersection of horizontal, vertical and diagonal kinks. The sheet is bent inward along a horizontal strip to form a workpiece that looks like a small boat.
- Further, the triangles at the bottom and at the top must be directed to the lower part, while bending the workpiece along the upper strip. The inner side lines must be fixed. One triangle should remain on the seamy side and the other on the front.
- The two ends on the side will later become the legs and neck of the animal. At the same time, they start from the front legs and from the neck, they will be placed in one line. The right end is pressed into the inside, and slightly raised upward. All this is spread out to the front side of the workpiece.
- Then, on the resulting rhombus, you need to reduce the side upper sides to the middle. The formed elements are directed along the body of the animal, while the middle is made by the contour of the front legs and neck.
- Next, you will need to form the hind legs. For this, the other end of the product is bent obliquely. The fold line is carefully ironed in both directions. After that, the part is turned inside out to the wrong side. In this case, the inner part eventually becomes external.
- Then they start making the head of a giraffe. It is formed in the place where the cervical spine ends. It will be necessary to retreat about 3 centimeters from the sharp end, and make an oblique bend in both directions at once.Along the fold strip, it will be necessary to bend the end inward so that a protruding corner is formed by about 90 degrees or slightly more.
- A thin tip is bent obliquely at a distance of about 2 cm from the edge. It is directed inward so that the edge protrudes slightly beyond the animal's head. The result is a small horn.
- Later, a small line is bent on the back, they do this in the place where there is a corner on both sides. Then, along the bends, all unnecessary areas are removed. The part becomes rounded.
- The sharp ends are retracted inward. This is done so that the finished giraffe is as stable as possible. If you wish, you can do several crafts in this way at once and create an interesting composition from them.
This instruction is easily suitable for beginners, as well as for children from 5-6 years old.
How to make modular origami?
Now we will look at how you can make such a paper craft from ready-made modules in stages with your own hands.
- First, you need to prepare the modules themselves. All you need is 118 yellow, 89 brown parts. And also you should immediately prepare scissors and glue.
- It is worth starting with the assembly of the torso. To do this, a ring of 18 elements is formed, then 8 more rows are formed, while it will be necessary to alternate brown and yellow details.
- After that, you can start assembling the giraffe's neck. To do this, alternately 2 and 3 paper elements need to be inserted into each level. After 11 tiers on the sides, two more parts are inserted into the "pockets".
- After that, two brown elements are laid on the top of the workpiece, they will act as horns, two more yellow modules are fixed in front, and they must be glued together. This should be the face of a giraffe.
- Now you need to collect the legs of the animal. For this, rows of yellow modules connected in series are made. They are inserted into the torso. This option with modules is suitable for those who already have certain origami skills.
