How to lighten black hair?
Who of the girls wanted to radically change their style and image? Or perhaps the staining experiment was not very successful? Often times, change begins with a change of hairstyle. A dark color does not suit everyone, moreover, it often emphasizes the imperfections of the face. They say correctly: "If you want to change your life, start with your hair." How do you turn from a burning brunette to a charming blonde? We will talk about this in our article.
Where to begin?
Determine the desired outcome. Do you want to go platinum blonde, or maybe you prefer the wheat shade. Or maybe you want to add a few light strands and gradually achieve the ombre effect? The choice of the lightening method and the duration of the bleaching process will depend on this.
Diagnostics
First of all, the current condition of the hair should be assessed. For example, if the curls are very dry or have recently been permed, it is better to postpone the staining for a while and, of course, take vigorous care with the help of professional products.
Choosing a bleaching method
It is better to choose materials of the same brand. In terms of composition, they are ideally combined and will make the process of lightening and care the most balanced and effective. Undoubtedly, dyed and natural hair require a different approach to changing the shade. Let's talk about this in more detail.
Lighten colored hair
Of course, the easiest way to change the shade is to contact a professional. This is especially true if your hair has already been dyed. But if you decide to try to cope with such a difficult task on your own at home, our article will help you with this.
If staining is a single unsuccessful experiment that has been done recently, tools such as, for example, deep cleansing shampoo (it will reveal the scales, and most of the paint will be washed off in a couple of times). Assistant can also be ordinary burdock oil. It needs to be applied to the hair, and after a few uses, you will return to the original shade.
But you need to keep in mind that you should keep the oil composition on your hair for at least several hours. A huge advantage of this procedure will be not only a change in the shade of the hair, but also an improvement in their condition. Hair in just a week will be transformed and become healthy and shiny.
Lightening stages
Lightening dyed black hair is not easy. This is due to the fact that the dark dye penetrates deeply into the hair structure, especially when using non-professional household dyes or natural henna. Few people think that the high content of oxide in the dye gives the effect of lasting color for a reason. Color pigments in dark and especially black shades are incredibly persistent. But let's try to figure out how to give the hair the necessary tone, minimally damaging its structure.
Wash off
The so-called wash is a special chemical composition that breaks down dye molecules and removes them from the hair... It can take more than one stage and take a lot of time. But a pre-wash for previously colored hair is a must. It will help remove the remnants of previous stains, while maintaining the quality of the hair as much as possible, and save you from the uneven color effect that may appear due to the layering of different formulations.
In specialized stores, there is a huge selection of such compositions, which are quite easy to use.
But pay attention: the remover only removes the paint, it does not make you blonde. Immediately after the procedure, the shade of the hair may appear quite light, but over time the hair darkens a little.
Bleaching
For blonding, a special powder is used - a professional tool that quickly lightens the hair by about 3 tones. This product, produced by various companies, is presented in professional stores. To find the most suitable formulation for your hair, consult a professional.
The powder is mixed with an oxidizing agent and is usually applied for 20-30 minutes, depending on the degree of clarity required. Don't be surprised if the shade of your hair doesn't turn out quite as you'd expect (shades can range from golden to auburn and sometimes reddish).
As an alternative to bleaching, you can use a procedure such as pickling. When carrying out pickling, it is necessary to mix hair balm, clarifying powder, oxidizer (1.5 or 3%) and ordinary water in equal proportions. The composition should be applied to the hair, for about fifteen minutes, and pulled off with a towel. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated in several stages until the desired result is achieved. Decapitation can be classified as a relatively gentle lightening method - it causes minimal damage to the hair, and at the same time is very effective.
It happens that lightening alone is not enough (the color is still too dark or uneven). In this case, you will have to resort to re-lightening, but the break between stains should be at least a week.
It should also be remembered that lightening is only a preparatory stage for subsequent toning.
Toning
After the intermediate stages of turning into a blonde, the final one comes - toning. Typically used for this procedure gentle dyes with a low percentage of oxidizing agent (1.5-3%, depending on the desired result). Toning can correct unwanted yellowness (purple undertones) and reddishness (blue undertones). If you are not strong in color, we strongly recommend that you consult with a hairdresser so that the result of your efforts will please you.
Also, if you really want to get a platinum blond, you can choose a higher percentage of the oxidizer during toning (6-9%). This will help lighten your hair 2 more tones. At all stages of changing hair color, we recommend that you carefully care for them using special masks and sprays.
For natural brunettes
To lighten natural hair, you definitely won't need a wash. It will be much easier to change and maintain the hue. If you plan to radically change black to blond, you can follow the recommendations from the previous paragraph.
Discoloration (blonding)
When lightening natural black curls, it is recommended to use an oxidizer no higher than 6%.
It is better to hold the composition a little longer. Carefully consider the choice of coloring agents so as not to damage your hairstyle.
Toning
The choice of shades of the color palette can be wider than when toning colored hair, since the tone after lightening will be much cleaner. If you just want to refresh the shade by adding light highlights, or make your hair a couple of tones lighter, folk remedies are perfect. With the help of such recipes, the condition of the hair will be preserved, and maybe slightly improved.
Traditional methods
Sometimes you can freshen up your hair without resorting to funds from professional stores. Often everything you need for light lightening can be found at our home.
Lemon juice and chamomile
A strong decoction of chamomile with lemon juice is not a quick lightening method, and it is more suitable for imparting a reddish hue. You can use this composition after each hair wash. But do not forget to use moisturizing masks, as lemon dries your hair quite a lot.
Kefir
With the help of kefir masks, it is easy to wash off recent staining. The fermented milk product slightly opens the hair scales and flushes out the chemical composition. This method is also ineffective for lightening the strands.
Hydrogen peroxide
Even though the most famous blonde Marilyn Monroe used this method, we still put peroxide lightening in last place among folk recipes, since this type of coloring can significantly dry the hair.
A logical conclusion can be drawn from this: folk recipes will not turn you into a blonde (it is better to use professional tools for this), but they will help to lighten the shade a little.
In our article, we looked at different ways of reincarnation. The result of dyeing largely depends on the structure of the hair, your efforts and patience. We hope our tips were helpful, and the new look will turn out exactly as it was intended.
