Hair wash: features, types, instructions for use
Hair coloring is one of the easy ways to change your image. It is not surprising that almost every woman has resorted to it at least once in her life. However, the results of such experiments may not be to your liking, as well as a good color sooner or later you want to change. Here, in a number of cases, experts recommend using a wash. What is this procedure and how to carry it out correctly? Let's try to figure it out.
What it is?
Washing off, or pickling, is the process of washing out the pigment from the colored hair. The process consists in the penetration of the smallest particles of the composition for washing into the structure of the hair and the destruction of chemical bonds between the latter and the coloring pigment. The wash removes the pigment out and blocks them, not allowing them to penetrate the hair again.
A wash is used when changing from a darker color to a light one, with unsuccessful staining, in order to return the natural shade of the hairstyle. After washing, you can avoid unpleasant surprises instead of unwanted shades after staining, make the new shade of curls cleaner and more uniform.
In the course of pickling, the scales of the hair are lifted, after which it becomes possible to remove the pigment from it. It is important not only to raise the scales at the beginning of the procedure, but also to cover them as much as possible at the end. The quality of the hair after washing depends on this. This is why, despite the existence of formulations for self-use, it is better to remove from dark colors to light colors when it is done in a hairdresser.
The wash can not always return to the natural hair color (this is possible only if the colored strands differ by 1-2 tones from the natural one).Its main task is to remove artificial pigment. If it is complex or intense, then you will have to resort to several washes.
Decapitation is not suitable for removing color after staining with basma or henna. Otherwise, unforeseen chemical reactions occur and the same result - hair can turn out to be of any shade, up to green.
Most often, color washes are used in the following cases:
- the new color does not fit, does not like it, it ages;
- the staining turned out to be overly bright and unnatural;
- there was a desire to change the usual shade to a new one;
- the hair was dyed of poor quality - there are streaks, spots, unpainted areas on the curls.
Benefit and harm
One of the main and obvious advantages of a wash is the ability to get rid of a boring or unsuccessful color. Decapitation allows you to achieve better staining, go from dark shades to lighter ones, evenly paint over gray hair. In a word, the merit of the method is the ability to make hair more attractive.
However, you have to "pay" for it with the health of your hair. If we talk about chemicals, then all of them (some to a greater extent, others to a lesser extent) contain aggressive components. These components, as already mentioned, open the hair scales, which makes the curls dry and brittle. Undoubtedly, the wash is harmful.
At the same time, it should be understood that it is sometimes safer for the hair to make a wash than to bleach or dye it, trying again and again to achieve a suitable shade.
To understand if you need a wash and what to opt for, the most rational thing is to visit a hairdresser and get his advice. The criteria for choosing a pickling method depend on the condition of the hair, the duration of the new color on the hair (recently dyed hair is better washed off than those after dyeing which has passed a considerable period of time), the existing and desired shade.
The danger of washes is not only in their negative effect on the hair structure, but also on the hair follicle. Aggressive ingredients can burn the bulb or completely destroy it. As a result - hair loss, slowing down of hair growth. This is why it is better to apply remover. only on the colored part of the curls, receding from the roots and preventing the composition from getting on the scalp.
By the way, the composition for pickling also affects the scalp. If it gets on, especially dry and sensitive, the wash can provoke irritation and even chemical burns.
Views
According to the degree of impact, surface and deep washings are distinguished. A deep wash allows you to lighten the strands by 3-4 tones, which becomes possible thanks to ammonia and other powerful compounds. Recommended for removing black and dark shades and only for use by a master in the salon.
Surface pickling involves the use of acidic compositions and allows you to achieve a clarification of one or two tones. On dark hair, it is usually used to lighten too bright colors, but this requires several procedures.
In terms of application, they are disposable and reusable.
Depending on the tasks and the initial type of curls, washes of various compositions are used.
- Natural. There are no aggressive components in the composition, so this is the safest way of pickling. They call her that - sparing. Moreover, most formulations not only wash out the color, but also strengthen the hair. However, the same absence of chemical components in the composition means prolonged exposure to the wash. It should be applied several times and it will not completely eliminate a very dark color, but only slightly lighten it by 0.5-1 tone. As a rule, natural remedies are prepared on the basis of fermented milk products and oils.
- Acidic... Due to the absence of ammonia and perhydrol in acidic formulations, such washes are also considered relatively safe for hair.Suitable for lightening to a natural tone without changing it. It is used both in large areas and in local areas. The acidic remover has a pungent unpleasant odor, which is a disadvantage.
- Amino acid wash is considered a variety of it.... In this composition, the acids are lined up in a certain chain, which excludes the "lifting" of the hair scales. After the amino acid wash, the hair is smoothed and fluffiness is eliminated. According to their pickling properties, amino acid compositions correspond to acidic ones, that is, they lighten hair by 1-2 tones.
- Discoloration (blonding). This remover lightens hair up to 4 tones and eliminates color irregularities. The composition includes aggressive compounds, therefore, it is advisable to entrust the application of the decolorizing remover to a professional. Another name is alkaline, it allows you to remove dark and black shades. Such a composition cannot be applied to overgrown natural roots, if any.
Manufacturers rating
Among the compositions that receive high marks from professionals, several can be distinguished.
"Estel Color Off"
The Estel product allows you to remove the pigment to the natural shade of the curls, while not changing it. The composition does not contain ammonia compounds, but the "kit" for the flush includes a catalyst, a neutralizer, and a reducing agent. This implies a multi-stage application of the wash, but this allows you to achieve good washing results and more or less maintain the health of your hair.
"Kapous Decoxon"
A two-phase product that looks like a pair of 200 ml bottles. The effect is based on dissolving the artificial tone and preserving the natural shade of the curls. The instruction assumes applying the composition during the day. At the same time, there is no need to be afraid of such a long-term effect of the wash on the hair, its quality will not suffer due to the careful formula of the composition.
The Kapous series contains especially effective products for the depigmentation of black and red hair. In this case, the removal of color is achieved not so much by lightening as by the destruction of molecular bonds between the pigment and the hair.
Suitable for those who want to get rid of black or red shades, but do not want strong lightening and value the health of their hair.
"L Oreal Eclair Clair"
The product is intended for application before painting. It is a powder that can be mixed with water for surface wash or with oxide for deep pickling.
It brightens the hair and fills in the hollow areas of the hair. Thanks to this, the subsequent staining is of higher quality and "predictable" - the color lays down evenly, as much as possible. The manufacturer recommends using the pickling compound in combination with the paint of the same brand. The remover comes with a mask that will help smooth the hair after the procedure and give it shine.
Hair Light Remake Color
Means for surface pickling without ammonia and other aggressive components in the composition. Optimal for removing unsuccessful hair color after dyeing - removes the coloring pigment without changing the natural color of the strands.
"Color-Off" by Farmen
This composition is used by specialists to remove color from dark to lighter, which is possible due to the brightening components of the composition. The composition also includes germinated wheat seeds, which allows partially neutralizing the negative effect of the wash and avoiding severe dryness and brittle hair after the procedure.
Colorianne Color System by Brelil
Composition for pickling black hair. Despite the difficulty of removing black, thanks to this wash, it can be carried out even at home. Experts warn that the color may return a few days after pickling. This can be avoided by dyeing the hair in a color close to natural, immediately after washing. in this case, you need to use an ammonia-free dye.
An important feature of the composition is that the color is not destroyed, but washed out. This is achieved due to the peculiarities of the composition, or rather the decoupling of the pigment molecules of the paint with the structural elements of the hair. Complete with a wash, the manufacturer produces a caring balm with fruit acids and proteins. It is applied immediately after pickling and washing hair.
"Backtrack Paul Mitchel"
A tool that is positioned as a remover, which can be used at home. Ease of breeding and use and reasonably good results are what makes this claim possible.
An effective and powerful product that allows you to achieve lightening of the hair up to 3-4 tones after one wash. At the same time, there is neither ammonia nor peroxide in the composition, the agent has a rather gentle effect on the strands and is considered suitable for damaged and dry hair.
However, if you believe the reviews, the emulsion dries the hair too much, so right after the procedure it is better to wash your hair with a regenerating shampoo and make a mask based on oils.
Experts recommend purchasing care products along with the wash. They contain fruit acids and keratins, which allows the hair to return vital energy, "seal" the hair scales.
"Nouvelle"
Another option for home use. The wash is easy to use, affordable, lightens 2-4 tones. However, there are not isolated reviews that speak of allergic reactions to this composition.
It should be remembered that they can occur in response to any type of wash, so do not neglect the allergy test before using the formulation.
"Baco Color Remove"
A two-phase remover with an interesting mode of action. The active components of the composition act on the pigment molecules, literally corroding them, which leads to a decrease in the size of the latter. Thus the artificial dye is removed and the natural hair color does not change. The product contains rice and silk proteins, so the composition has a caring effect on the hair.
Supra
An affordable and fairly easy-to-use product for home lightening and highlighting. It contains white henna, which makes the product suitable for lightening, discoloration. It cannot be considered a complete wash, since it is only effective when working with light hair. The product will discolor dark strands, but no more than 2-3 tones.
It is produced in two varieties - powder (characterized by a more aggressive effect) and powder (more often used by professionals as a wash).
How to choose?
It is important to consider the features of curls and color saturation. Acidic products are not suitable for thinning, weak and dry hair. If we talk about natural analogues, then compositions based on soda, peroxide, citric acid should be excluded, giving preference to honey and kefir washes.
When choosing a wash, evaluate the color and condition of your hair. If you need a slight clarification in the range of 2-4 tones, choose acid compositions. In some cases, a decent result can be obtained after the first wash, although usually 2 procedures are required with an interval of 2-3 weeks.
If you need to bring out a black or red color, then acid compositions will be powerless here, so buy them based on ammonia or peroxide. It is better to purchase a wash with a margin of 3-4 procedures from the same brand. Do not experiment with products from different manufacturers.
To remove persistent black and red shades, choose strong, but not damaging the hair structure. After washing off the black, a reddish tint will appear, it needs to be pickled additionally. After removing the redhead, a yellow color appears, which will also require additional washing.
For blondes and owners of light blond hair, chemical remover is not recommended. Your choice is either very gentle chemical washes (at your own peril and risk) or natural formulations.
How to use?
First of all, you need to prepare everything you need to work so that the process goes as quickly and efficiently as possible. In addition to rinsing, you will need a brush to apply the compound, protective gloves, a negligee or an old towel to protect your clothes, a plastic shower cap, and a wide-toothed comb.
There are certain rules that must be followed for any pickling:
- test for an allergic reaction to avoid the unpleasant and dangerous consequences of pickling;
- do not wash your hair before using the wash;
- the composition should be applied to dry strands;
- use only hot water;
- strictly follow the instructions, especially when mixing the composition for pickling and the exposure time of the composition;
- be prepared to repeat the procedure if necessary, especially if you are trying to get away from a black or red tone.
Let's consider the rules for pickling using the example of a product from Estel as one of the most popular for home use.
First of all, the composition is being prepared, for which 1/2 part of the contents of bottles 1 and 2 is connected to each other. The mass should be thoroughly mixed and distributed through the hair, receding from the roots and not staining the regrown part of the hair (if any). Reviews of women allow us to conclude that when it hits the natural color, the regrown part of the wash simply does not work. However, you should not check this, and there is no point in exposing undyed hair to chemical influences once again.
After applying the product, it is better to comb through the hair with a fine-toothed comb to distribute the wash more evenly.
Now you should put a shower cap on your head and leave the mixture on your hair for 20 minutes. After a specified time, the composition is washed off with running water. After the procedure, the hair should be dried with a towel and left to dry naturally. Important point - this description does not replace reading the instructions for your composition for washing. Different manufacturers use different formulations, so it is important to follow the recommendations given by the manufacturer of your particular product.
You can apply the remover with a sponge (if it has a thinner consistency) or a brush (for thicker products). To enhance the effect, you can wrap a terry towel over the plastic cap. This can be done without fear when using natural home washes. In the case of purchased ones - only if the manufacturer allows it to be done, which is written about in the instructions.
You can not keep the wash longer than the time indicated in the instructions. It is not recommended to dry your hair with a hairdryer after use.
It is recommended to carry out the subsequent pickling procedure with the use of aggressive components not earlier than 2-3 months. Washing with natural mixtures can be done every 3-4 days.
In addition to professional store products, you can use a home wash. You should not expect an instant effect, as well as a complete washout of the color. However, if you need a little color correction, you can resort to similar compositions for pickling. Their main advantage over specialized formulations is safety. And thanks to natural ingredients, such a wash also strengthens the hair.
Among the proven ones is a kefir-based wash. She will need kefir of maximum fat content. Choose a product with a short shelf life (3-5 days) or your own preparation. Kefir should be evenly applied to the strands, insulated with a shower cap and a towel and kept on the hair for 1.5-2 hours.
If the hair is dry, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the mixture, and a tablespoon of mustard for oily ones.
After the specified time, the kefir is washed off with running water, the hair is washed with shampoo, after which it can be rinsed with water, to which a little lemon juice or acid is added.
A more powerful wash can be prepared on kefir.In a liter of fatty slightly warmed kefir, you need to put 2 tablespoons of soda, 50 g of good vodka and 100 ml of vegetable oil. All components are thoroughly mixed and applied to the curls. Insulate the head with a towel and leave the composition for 2 hours.
Efficiency has been demonstrated and kefir-egg mixture... For her, take 100 ml of a fermented milk drink and 2 raw chicken eggs (if possible, homemade). The components are mixed, after which 50 ml of vodka and the juice of 1 lemon are poured into them. At the very end, add 4 teaspoons of hair shampoo.
Apply the thoroughly mixed product to the hair. Put on a hat on top and insulate it with a towel. A wash based on kefir and eggs should be kept on the hair for 4-8 hours, then wash your hair with shampoo.
After using kefir washes, the hair may have a sour milk smell. If you don't like it, just drop a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil into the product, in addition to the required components.
Widely popular means for removing color from honey. First, you should rinse your head with a solution of soda (2 tablespoons of soda per 1 liter of water). Then honey is distributed on damp hair, it is more convenient to warm it up a little in a water bath. Leave the product overnight, wrapping the curls in cellophane and warming with a towel. Wash in the morning.
Honey on wet hair begins to secrete a certain acid, which removes the pigment from the strand. So you can lighten the curls by 1-2 tones. However, this requires at least 7-8 hours, ideally 10-12.
Don't be afraid to leave honey all night long., since it does not contain aggressive components, which means it will not damage the hair for such a long time. Moreover, honey contains a lot of proteins, vitamin B and others that are so necessary for hair.
Honey as a wash can be combined with cinnamon. The components are taken in equal parts, usually 30-40 mg each. For hair prone to oily, you can put egg white, for dry strands - chicken yolk.
The decapitating composition is applied to the hair and left for 2 hours.
It is important to insulate the hair for the reaction to take place.
If you need to lighten oily hair, use baking soda. Dissolve 2 teaspoons of powder in 100 ml of water. Grease the strands with the resulting gruel and leave for half an hour.
For long and dark curls, you can use a composition of 200 ml of water and 10 tablespoons of baking soda, as well as put a teaspoon of salt in it. Apply the mixture to the curls and keep for half an hour.
Ascorbic acid, found in citrus fruits, is also a natural pigment breaker. For washing, twist 1 lemon through a meat grinder. Apply the resulting gruel to the hair and let stand for 15 minutes. After washing off, apply burdock oil for another half hour.
Oils have also shown their effectiveness. Burdock, olive, peach, grape will do. You can make a mixture of oils, heat it slightly in a water bath and distribute it through your hair. Leave on for 4-6 hours, ideally overnight.
Cognac or dry white wine can be poured into the oil mixture (in a ratio of 5: 1). Alcohol should be of high quality, with a minimum amount of dyes and preservatives. This additive will increase the effectiveness of the oil mixture.
If, after staining, the curls have acquired a greenish undertone, aspirin can be used for pickling. For 100 ml of warm water, you need to take 5 tablets, after grinding them into powder. Stir and distribute through hair, leave for half an hour.
To speed up the process of washing out paint and enhance the effectiveness of homemade pickling composition will help regular rinsing with chamomile decoction or acidified water (you can acidify it with vinegar, lemon juice).
If you want to remove the red color, it is recommended to wash your hair with laundry soap. However, it greatly dries the skin and hair, so you need to complete the washing process by applying a moisturizing mask or balm.
To remove black color, hydrogen peroxide 3% and a special powder for clarification are used. (can be bought at beauty salons or specialized stores). The components are mixed to a slurry consistency. The hair is distributed in strands, processed with gruel and each is wrapped in foil. Keep the composition for 15 to 50 minutes, depending on the natural shade and type of hair.
One procedure will not be enough, several of them will be needed at intervals of 2-4 weeks. After the first wash, the hair will turn out to be carrot orange. They can be immediately tinted with ammonia-free dye or tonic.
An important point - black dye radically changes the structure of the hair. Making a black wash is not an easy task, and it is better to entrust it to a professional.
After pickling black hair, the condition of the hair deteriorates noticeably, so it is advisable to undergo a course of moisturizing treatments.
How to restore hair?
Despite the fact that high-quality pickling agents remove pigment as carefully as possible, the hair still deteriorates after the procedure. First of all, they become dry and brittle, begin to split, quickly lose their color and shine.
After washing, you must definitely take care of restoring the hair. It is better to wash your hair with shampoos for damaged and brittle hair. Products with keratin, proteins and fruit acids in the composition will be successful. Choose a multi-step treatment (mask, shampoo, balm, caring serums and oils) from one series. Products from different manufacturers, when used together, may be less effective than formulations from the same brand.
It will also be useful use of special vitamin cocktails. You can make a vitamin SPA in the salon, add vitamins to the shampoo (strictly before use, and not immediately in the whole bottle) or massage them with them.
By the way, scalp massage will also activate hair follicles, provide good blood flow and hair nutrition. This means that they will recover faster.
For the recovery period after pickling, it is better, if possible, to keep your head from negative effects. Refuse (or reduce) the use of a hair dryer, tongs, irons. This article indicates that in some cases, you can dye or tint the strands immediately after washing. However, if there is no urgent need for this (that is, the hair color looks relatively normal), then it is better to refuse staining.
If you want to continue washing out the color between pickling sessions, you can try washing them with shampoos with sulfates in the composition. The latter contribute to the removal of pigment, however, they dry the hair a lot. This method is not suitable for weak and split ends.
Once a week, you can do oil masks, for example, based on burdock oil. It strengthens the hair follicle, moisturizes the hair from the inside. Slightly warmed oil is rubbed into the roots, and then distributed over the entire length of the hair.
Then you need to put a bathing cap on your head and additionally insulate it with a towel. Withstand the mask from 30 minutes to 2 hours, then wash your hair.
Most likely, you will need to lather your hair with shampoo 2-3 times so that your hair does not seem greasy.
