Do-it-yourself cards with flowers
It seems that with the current assortment of postcards presented in stores, there is no point in fiddling with homemade ones. On the other hand, imagine how nice it is to receive a postcard that no one else will have. And how interesting it will be for a child to independently make a gift for a mother, grandmother, sister, teacher or friend.
Below are a few step-by-step instructions that will help you create a unique card with flowers from paper, felt and other materials.
How to make from paper?
It is expected that most of the postcards are made from cardboard and paper. Fortunately, this does not make them monotonous, as we will now see. In almost every master class, you will need cardboard, colored paper, PVA glue, scissors, a ruler and a simple pencil, so you should prepare them right away.
With an umbrella
An interesting project of a postcard, inside of which a surprise awaits - an elegant "lace" umbrella with paper flowers.
Materials:
- cardboard or a special base for a postcard;
- colored paper;
- a sheet of white paper;
- openwork napkin;
- colored paper napkins (2 or 3-ply);
- rod from the handle.
Progress.
The postcard has 2 main elements: an umbrella and a bouquet. Let's start with the first one:
- fold the lace napkin 3 times in half;
- unfold and cut out 1 segment;
- all the folds, except for the 2 ones located at the deleted segment, are formed again, bending downward, and the remaining 2 bend up;
- on the segments that are at the cut, we apply glue;
- glue the blank of the umbrella to the base;
- carefully apply glue to the 4 remaining fold lines and press them against the cardboard using a ruler (we recommend starting with the segment opposite the deleted one);
- the umbrella handle can be cut out of colored paper, made from wire, or simply painted.
With the umbrella, let's move on to filling.
- Divide paper napkins into separate layers.
- Fold 1 layer in half twice. You should get a long rectangle.
- Starting from the left, bend the napkin so that a small "chubby" rectangle comes out.
- Draw on it (or just imagine) the number "2". Trim off a little of the excess at the bottom and cut along the lines of the 2. Expand the part.
- We wind the strip onto the rod from the handle, gluing the base from time to time. Having finished with the first strip of petals, add the second, etc. When the bud is sufficiently voluminous, remove it from the rod.
- We make a few more of the same buds.
- We glue the buds inside the umbrella.
- If desired, we supplement the bouquet with leaves.
- Add congratulations. You can write it on the remains of the same openwork napkin, on craft paper, or arrange it in any suitable way.
With a vase
Another drop-down volumetric postcard, this time with a vase, is made no more complicated than the previous one.
Materials:
- 2 colors cardboard;
- colored paper;
- glue stick.
Progress.
- We make a blank for a postcard from the first sheet of cardboard.
- The 2nd sheet must be cut by removing 2 cm from each side.
- Fold the smaller rectangle in half.
- Draw 7 lines with a pencil along the fold line. The bottom line is 2 cm on each side of the fold. The next one is one centimeter higher than the first one, already 2.5 cm long, the third one is another centimeter higher, 3 cm, etc., up to 7 lines.
- We cut the cardboard along the resulting lines.
- We fold the stripes to one side, press the folds.
- Unbend the stripes.
- We open a sheet of cardboard. The slicing should be inside. We bring it out. We bend the stripes inward along the edges, outward - in the center.
- We close the sheet.
- We glue the smaller sheet of cardboard inside the larger one. The folds should lie flat within each other.
- We check whether a vase of strips can be easily laid out, whether all parts fall into place when opened.
- Cut flowers, stems and leaves from colored paper.
- We glue the flowers to the stems, and the lower parts of the stems themselves are inside the vase. On the top strip of the vase we glue 1 flower without a stem.
- We check if our creation opens well.
With calla lilies
For this craft, you will need to supplement the paper and cardboard with cotton pads and sticks. The work will be simplified by using a glue gun. Most importantly, do not forget that in no case can you trust him with children.
Materials:
- cardboard;
- cotton buds;
- 3 cotton pads;
- green beverage tube;
- green corrugated paper;
- yellow paint;
- narrow tape.
Progress.
- Cut the tube into 3 parts - these will be calla stems.
- Cover the cotton swabs with yellow paint.
- Cut off one of the ends of the cotton swab, insert it into a straw filled with hot glue. We let her lock in.
- We wrap the tube with a cotton pad, forming a calla. We glue the disc.
- We repeat the manipulations with the rest of the blanks.
- Cut out a thin strip from corrugated paper. We wrap the tube with paper, fix it with glue.
- We collect a bouquet from the "flowers", wrap it in paper. We fix the paper with tape and glue.
- We fix the bouquet on the cardboard.
- We design the base of the postcard as you wish.
With asters
We've worked with new materials, now it's time to master a new technique, namely quilling, with which we will make a bright postcard with fluffy asters.
Materials:
- double-sided colored paper;
- the basis for the postcard;
- texture paper;
- yellow raffia - scrapbooking material made from palm fibers;
- spray varnish for acrylic;
- a special quilling tool or an ordinary toothpick.
Progress.
- Making asters. You need a sheet of colored paper 30 by 11 cm.
- Fold the sheet in half 2 times.
- Without bringing the cut to the edge of the sheet, cut the strip with small wedge-shaped teeth.
- After stepping back 3-5 mm from the incision, cut off the fold.
- We make several such strips from paper of different colors.
- For the core, we make the same, but from yellow paper and with small teeth.
- We twist the strip for the core into a tight roll, glue the free edge.
- We fasten the strips of the "asters" themselves to the core and also wrap them in a roll.
- Add green paper leaves.
- We fluff up the buds, give the petals and leaves the desired shape.
- We make the required number of flowers, large and small, according to this scheme.
- We design a blank postcard by gluing pieces of decorative paper on its front side, and raffia on top. There should be a free space for flowers in the center.
- We spread the flowers on the blank, sprinkle with varnish.
With basket
The next card with a basket of flowers is great for collaborating with kids.
Materials:
- white cardboard;
- colored cardboard in pastel colors.
Progress.
- Cut a piece of colored cardboard a couple of centimeters off each side.
- Fold the sheet in half.
- Draw 2 parallel lines at the fold.
- Cut the lines with scissors, fold, fold. Some kind of stand should come out.
- Open the cardboard, bend the stand at a right angle.
- Fold the sheet, iron the folds.
- Cut out the basket.
- Cut thin strips of cardboard of a different color.
- Glue these strips to the basket so that they imitate weaving. Trim off any excess.
- Stick the basket onto the stand.
- Cut flowers out of cardboard.
- Glue a few flowers to the basket, the rest to the first flowers.
- Add cardboard leaves.
- We glue the structure to the base of the postcard.
- From the same cardboard from which the inner part of the postcard is made, cut out a rectangle where we will write the congratulation, and glue it on the front side of the cover.
Checking the mechanism. If everything opens well, then the card is ready.
With scarlet roses
Let's finish the story about paper flowers with a bouquet of scarlet roses.
Materials:
- blank for a postcard or cardboard;
- red colored paper;
- brown colored paper for a basket or pot;
- beads.
Progress:
- cut mugs from red paper;
- we make spirals from circles;
- with scissors we make the edges of the spirals wavy;
- we twist the roses, fasten them with glue;
- glue the beads to the center of the flowers;
- on brown paper we make a sketch of the pot with a pencil, cut it out;
- glue the pot to the base, fill it with roses;
- add congratulations, decorate the background and admire!
Foamiran and felt options
Let's switch from paper to foamiran (foamy plastic suede) and felt, this will make floral cards more voluminous and more creative.
Materials:
- felt in 3 colors: white, olive, light brown;
- sewing machine or needle and thread;
- scissors;
- jute rope;
- brads;
- yellow threads;
- base for postcards made of thick cardboard;
- kraft paper.
Progress.
- Cut out a strip 1.5 cm wide from olive felt.This will be the grass.
- Sewing or stitching a strip in the center. We collect a little.
- Cut small leaves from the same green felt.
- Cut out flowers and a rectangle from white felt, which will serve as the background of the composition. By the way, flowers can be taken from a ready-made artificial plant, this will simplify the work.
- Twist the cores of flowers from tiny pieces of yellow thread and glue them in place.
- Sketch a tree trunk with one long branch on a light brown felt. Cut out.
- We sew the tree to the white base, we make several stitches imitating the bark.
- We lay out a swing from a jute rope. We fix them on the branch with glue and brads.
- We glue flowers and leaves on a tree. Add a strip of grass.
- First we glue kraft paper on the outside of the base, and on top - a blank made of felt.
Now - a variant from foamiran. This master class is no longer so easy, it requires some experience.
Materials:
- beige and blue cardboard;
- pink paper;
- yellow and green foamiran;
- green tape tape;

- Cut out a blank from blue cardboard. We make its edges wavy. We write the name of the addressee or the name of the holiday.
- We glue the blue cardboard on the front side of the beige blank.
Flowers.
- Using templates and an ordinary toothpick, sketch petals of 2 sizes on a yellow foamiran. Small ones will need 53, large ones - 28.
- Cut out the petals.
- On a green material, using the same technique, sketch out the leaves and sepals, and cut them out.
- Using a damp cloth, rub red pastel into the upper edges and edges of the petals.
- We heat a small petal with an iron. We turn a tube out of it. There will be 6 such details.
- We heat the rest of the petals, give them the necessary shape.
- After the petals, it is the turn to go to the iron on the leaves and sepals. After heating, we put the leaves into molds to get a relief. Give the sepals a domed look and make a hole in the center.
- Using nail scissors, cut out the notches along the edges of the leaves.
- Cut off 3 pieces of wire (5 cm each).
- We wrap the wire with tape.
- Take 1 core, 1 wire stem, 1 sepal, 3 small petals.
- With a glue gun, glue the core to the stem.
- Add petals.
- We put on and fix the sepal.
- We make 3 more buds. Take 1 middle, 1 sepal, 20 large petals and 4 small ones. We glue small petals to the core first, then large ones. We glue so that each next petal slightly covers the previous one. We straighten the petals. Turning the flower over, cut off all unnecessary, making the base flat.
- We glue the sepal. Take 1 middle of the bud (x2), 1 sepal (x2), 17 small petals (x2), 4 large petals (x2). We do it in the same way as for a large flower, 2 smaller flowers.
The final stage.
- We decorate the card blank with lace and sequins.
- We glue the roses: first the buds on the stem, then the flowers.
