Dauffman Sheepdogs: history and description of the breed
German Shepherd Dogs have a special character, which is why many dog breeders choose this particular breed. As the main traits of her character, one can single out devotion, complaisance, her respectful attitude towards a person. Such dogs are widely used as service dogs, in the war years they helped the wounded on the battlefield, blew up enemy tanks, delivered documents to hard-to-reach places.
However, it was precisely from the time of the Second World War that the Dauffman Sheepdogs became known - the legendary fascist dogs that horrified everyone who had met her before.
History
In 1939, the Nazis began to create concentration camps. These places of death are known for their particularly cruel treatment of all prisoners. In order to keep the prisoners at bay, convoys with dogs were created, the German shepherd, due to its nature, was not quite suitable. Therefore, Hitler of the Reich canine laboratory ordered to increase the aggressiveness and cruelty of the representatives of this breed. This is how the Dauffman Sheepdogs, the SS dog handler, appeared.
Little is known about how this breed was bred. The documentation on the work of the Reich canine laboratory is classified, and the magazines are in the Library of Congress of the United States of America. According to some reports, there is information about methods of creating a breed using genetic experiments with a German shepherd, she was injected with the blood of an African hyena. And it is these genetic modifications that determine the ruthlessness, resourcefulness and cowardice of the Dauffman Shepherd Dog.
However, today many dog handlers doubt the possibility of breeding a new breed, therefore Dauffman's shepherds are not registered anywhere, they cannot be found in cynological reference books, no one creates clubs for fans of this breed and corresponding kennels. The reason for doubt is the facts about the impossibility of crossing shepherd dogs and hyenas. It will take many years to carry out such experiments, and in the case of the creation of this breed, this time interval will be 1–2 years. Hyenas and dogs have different sets of chromosomes, and such crossing is also meaningless due to the cowardice inherent in hyenas. Therefore, a killer dog with such a set of genes is unlikely to work.
However, it is possible to create such dogs with a high degree of aggressiveness by selecting the most ferocious individuals and crossing them with each other. This method is also very time consuming.
As is known, education has a special place in the character of the dog. And if the owner wishes, raising an aggressive animal is not difficult. When the owner deprives the pet of communication, affection, attention, refuses her to satisfy her desires and needs, he forms a neurotic character of the dog. The beatings can provoke the emergence of hatred towards a person. Therefore, these methods may well raise a particularly aggressive and ferocious individual. An unstable psyche is dangerous for a person, no matter how large a representative of any breed is - in any case, he can cause damage. Therefore, experienced dog handlers reject puppies with similar character traits, thereby stopping their reproduction.
A dog is a friend of man, therefore, correct upbringing and a healthy psyche are the main criteria for keeping a pet.
Description
Dauffman's Sheepdogs are similar to German Shepherds. They have a strong relief body, the height is about 75 cm. The head is considered to be slightly more massive than that of German shepherds, the ears are erect, the eyes are from dark to light brown, the nose is black. Well developed jaws and a fairly strong neck. The coat is close-fitting, hard to the touch, the color is predominantly dark, black. Photos of these dogs are few in number, as well as accurate information about the creation of the breed. It is believed that there were not too many representatives, although accurate statistics are also impossible to provide.
It is known that the developments and experiments carried out in the laboratories of the Nazis are classified until now.
Character traits
When training this breed of shepherd dogs, the most cruel methods were used in relation to living creatures. Cynologists of the Reich put on the uniform of concentration camp prisoners and beat the dogs with metal rods for a long time. With this upbringing, the dogs became especially aggressive and ferocious towards all prisoners. The cultivation of hatred of people, pleasure in persecuting a person, cunning and cowardice have become the main features of such shepherd dogs. After the end of the war, about 42 thousand representatives of the breed were exported to the countries of the world. Therefore, the Dauffman Sheepdogs were not eradicated due to their ferocity. Some of them were used in breeding other breeds, which did not give a positive result.
The nature of the bred breeds was spoiled, which limited the ways of their use.
In 1995, one of the magazines in America reported on the discovery of the "aggressive gene". Its authors were dog handlers K. Cooper and N. Moore. A study of the brains, eggs and sperm of killer dogs revealed a difference in the regions of chromosomes responsible for the nervous system. And with this article, scientists argued that the gene is hereditary, that the offspring of such dogs will sooner or later show killer skills. According to some reports, the Dauffman Sheepdogs were used in the breeding of the prohibited superdog breed. Superdogs were created to protect military installations, they were larger and more powerful than shepherd dogs, and also immune to radiation. Then superdogs were crossed with savannah dogs, a new breed was bred - Maikongs - for use against terrorists.
These dogs were recognized by society as killers.
As one of the representatives of this breed, you can consider a shepherd named Blondie. She was Hitler's favorite and was the fruit of Dauffmann's experiments. Hitler was inseparable from his dog, but after an incident on the hunt, he still hurried to get rid of it. The fact is that when the Fuhrer butchered a killed deer, he got dirty in his blood. The blondie pounced on the owner and tried to gnaw him. Then, by order of Hitler, the dog was taken to a country house for further maintenance. At the new habitat, the dog bit most of the staff working there, which made it impossible for the dog to stay on the Fuhrer's estate. The blondie was put to sleep.
At the moment, the law introduces restrictions on the breeding of this breed. For example, in Kiev, individuals are subject to mandatory sterilization, and a high license fee is charged from the owners. And also microchipping, civil liability insurance, in case of walking, it is necessary to keep such a dog in a muzzle and on a short leash.
The Dauffman Sheepdog is an unrecognized breed of dog by the cynological society. However, animals with a similar ferocity of character have been encountered at different times, in history there are references to Roman dogs trained on slaves, and aggressive superdogs and Maikongs are also known.
Today, hard work is being done to improve the species. German Shepherds are represented by the most worthy individuals. Therefore, if you want to find a puppy with the declared qualities of the breed, a stable psyche, you need to contact the nursery and devote time to raising a worthy representative of the breed.
