Double-breasted coat
Unlike a single-breasted coat, which has narrow sides and only one row of fasteners, a double-breasted coat has two rows of buttons, as well as several other characteristics. Which ones, we will consider in this article.
What is a double-breasted coat?
The double-breasted coat has wide double front flaps and two parallel rows of fasteners (one row each side). The traditional number of buttons is six - three on each side. In addition, double-breasted coats usually have another inner button. There are also models with a hidden clasp.
Initially, a double-breasted coat was more versatile - it could be fastened on both sides, but now more often one of the rows of fasteners performs an exclusively decorative function.
Historically, the double-breasted coat was designed for soldiers. Army tunics had to be very warm, so the style with a deep smell of coarse woolen fabric was out of competition. Later, the American fashion designer Calvin Klein adapted the purely masculine version into a stylish double-breasted women's coat.
This required a softer fabric, flared cut, belt and subtle decor. But the main elements inherent in a classic double-breasted coat remained - these are shiny buttons, lapels on the chest, shoulder straps, tabs and slots on the sleeves. A woman in such a coat looks very personable and elegant.
Models
A double-breasted classic coat in a conservative design has, as a rule, six or eight buttons. The top buttons are farther apart than the bottom buttons, and they are not fastened at all.The strict classic "pardesus" for women is usually sewn with a fitted silhouette. Conservative double-breasted women's coats go well with an elegant business dress code.
Overcoat - a long double-breasted woolen coat up to the knees and below, with standing lapels, a tab, with rolled up sleeves and deep pockets on the sides, the style also switched from military uniform.
A trench coat (from English - "trench coat"), a double-breasted product made of moisture-resistant fabric, with a belt, epaulettes (epaulettes) and a wide turn-down collar, at the back there is a characteristic yoke and a slit. A modern women's trench coat is often sewn with a lining in a bright color or with a checkered print. Trench coats, like other "army" styles, are in great demand among the fair sex.
This collarless double-breasted coat is specially designed to show off a beautiful woman's neck. The strict top is offset by the rest of the feminine details - bright buttons, patch pockets, contrasting trim, and a belt.
Sporty and youthful style will help to embody a straight double-breasted coat with a free cut. The women's cocoon-shaped O-silhouette coat, wide at the waist and tapering downwards, is gaining popularity, hence the name.
A fitted double-breasted coat made from light raincoat fabric will come in handy more than ever in the rainy off-season. Usually this feminine cut is complemented by a spacious hood.
Length
A long coat is suitable for a tall girl and women, but for the fair sex with a short stature, this length can visually make it even shorter.
Textile
The advantage of fabric for a double-breasted coat will be its heat-insulating properties, crease resistance, ability to keep its shape and resistance to arbitrary deformation.
Colour
Solid colors are ideal for a double-breasted coat. Most girls and women prefer a black coat because it corrects the imperfections of the figure. The double-breasted black coat is elegant, it is always and everywhere appropriate.
A black coat is not very practical in its use, specks of dust and hairs are visible on it, so it is better to replace it with a shade of brown, gray, blue or green.
How to choose?
For lovers of the casual style, models in a practical sports or military style are suitable.
The owners of a lush bust should try on a coat with small lapels and narrow sleeves. We advise girls with narrow shoulders to choose a double-breasted military coat with shoulder straps. Young ladies with small breasts should give preference to a double-breasted coat with large elements in the upper part.
What to wear with?
The loose-fitting coat is combined with skinny pants, skinny jeans, a chunky knit hat and flat boots.
A double-breasted coat with a flared or pleated hem will look good with a scarf, flirty hat, small purse, and high-heeled shoes.
A sporty look is easy to embody with a warm oversized sweater, knitted hat, and sneakers.
