How to tie a scarf on a coat?

The initial task of a scarf is to provide a person with warmth, but a properly selected scarf can and should be used not only to create comfort, but also as a beautiful accessory that complements your image.

According to the types of material from which scarves are made, they can be divided into three groups:

Scarves are shaped like:

• rectangular (narrow and wide);
• square;
• scarves-pipes (snoods, clamps);
• tippet (pashmina).

For the manufacture of warm fabric scarves, wool, cashmere, pashmina (as a kind of cashmere), velvet, mixed fabrics are used. Lighter options are cotton, chiffon, silk, polyester, lace.

A scarf can be knitted manually or industrially from different types of yarn: woolen, semi-woolen, with the addition of down, cotton or using artificial threads.

Fur scarves are created from a solid fabric (one-sided, lined, or double-sided) or knitted from fur strips.

When choosing a scarf, you should decide not only on the style and color of the coat, but also on the general style, as well as the place and event to which you plan to go.

If you are an adherent of the classic style and, moreover, you are going to an official business meeting, then the same classic wool or cashmere scarf is perfect for you. You can also use a thin fabric scarf to tie under your coat.

With a short jacket-coat, a knitted scarf, long or short, will be appropriate, and with a fitted coat with a fluffy skirt and an accentuated waist, chiffon scarves of suitable colors look spectacular. For a military-style coat, as they say, there will be a snood scarf (tube scarf, collar scarf, transforming scarf) in the theme.

The versatility and beauty of a stole or pashmina will allow you to wear them with almost any style of coat. Moreover, tied to a denim or leather cropped coat, the stole will soften the harsh image and add femininity.

When choosing the color of a scarf for a coat, be guided, first of all, by the color of the coat itself and the color of other accessories to it. Contrasting accessories, including a scarf of the same color, can dilute the monotony of a classic plain coat and make it less boring.

Non-standard, but interesting will be the option when shoes, gloves, scarf, headdress and bag are chosen in a contrasting or the same color with the coat, but in different shades of the same color.

There are a lot of ways to use a scarf beautifully. When choosing it, one should take into account the model and style of the coat: with a collar, without a collar, a coat with a hood.

If your coat has an English collar, an apache collar, or just a large turn-down collar, there is no point in tying a scarf over your coat. It is worth placing it on the neck, under the coat:

• The easiest way in this case is to throw the scarf around your neck and cross its ends on the chest, tucking them under the coat. This method is good both in the case of solid dense scarves in combination with a straight-cut coat, and in the case of an elegant chiffon or even flirty gauze scarf to a fitted coat with a flared bottom.

• By folding the scarf in half, if the length permits, and threading its ends into the resulting loop, you will get a denser version of the first method.

• You can tie a scarf around your neck with different types of knots: from simple to tie, from loose to tight. At the same time, wrapping the scarf, if the length permits, can also be wrapped around the neck several times.

• Tie the scarf around your neck in any way, and pull the ends tucked under the coat between the first and second loops of the shelf.

If the coat has a stand-up collar, a small turn-down collar, or if it has no collar at all, then a voluminous snood collar will look appropriate and effective over the coat. In this case, beautifully laid folds of pashmina will also look organic.

For a hooded coat, tie a casual, half-open single knot in a long tasselled scarf.

A large scarf usually means a stole or pashmina. To look decent in such an elegant thing, you first need to ... straighten up. Having wrapped the stole around the neck and shoulders, straighten its folds, making sure that its print comes from the winning side, throw the ends back.

The option when the ends of the pashmina converge on the side also looks very nice, in this case one end remains in front, the second - from the back of the shoulder, and the part that turned out to be on the chest should be nicely draped.

The classic way to tie a long fabric or knitted scarf is to wrap it around your neck, thus making a loop, and hang the ends over your chest.

An interesting option will also turn out if you wrap the scarf around your neck, and tuck the straightened ends under the belt or waistband of your coat.

If you do the opposite, that is, you form a loop on the chest, and casually throw the ends of the long scarf back, then your look will acquire some bohemian notes.

You can imitate the look of a snood scarf by wrapping a long knitted or fabric scarf around your neck several times and tucking the ends inward.

You can even casually throw a scarf over your shoulders without tying it, especially to an unbuttoned coat.

A long thin scarf of not very large width is allowed to be wrapped around the neck and tightened quite tightly. In this case, the space between the strip of the scarf on the neck and the neckline of the coat will remain open. It should be borne in mind, however, that this option will add showiness, but it will not get warmer from this.

A shawl used as a scarf can offer very original solutions. Considering that the scarf is usually square, fold it in half to form a triangle, then roll it into a roll (plain or twisted) and tie it around your neck with a simple knot, leaving, at your discretion, the ends on the chest, on the back or even on one shoulder on both sides.

If the fabric of the scarf is light, then such a slightly rolled volumetric roll can be laid around the neck several times, and the tied ends can be tucked inward.

"Cowboy" version - a scarf folded in half is tied with a loose double knot, turns in a triangle forward, and the ends remain on the back. In a coat with an open collar, thus, a beautiful scarf will be visible, besides, it reliably protects you from the cold.
