What can be made from an old piano?

It happens so - the old piano is no longer suitable for its present use, and it is a pity to throw away the instrument (perhaps, which is a heirloom). And then creative alterations come into play, which in the format of generational love for hand-made and home restoration will be very appropriate.

The most common way to transform an old piano into furniture is a bookshelf. Firstly, it is beautiful, secondly, it is practical, and, finally, the unity of the cultural context is played up - books and music are combined. Although it is more convenient to do this option with a piano, simply placing it on one of the sides, removing the lid and organizing shelves in the space under the lid.

But the piano is quite an option: the shelves from the bottom and top are attached to the base, and the protruding part (the cover above the keys) remains the same. You can put something on it: souvenirs, candles, a box, etc.; however, this is no longer even a shelf, but a full-fledged bookcase.

What other furniture from an old piano can you make yourself?

• Bar. A very common option is a rack with drawers. In the lower part of the piano, cells for wine bottles are equipped. Above the keys, you can make a shelf for bar accessories, dishes, etc. And a glass holder is equipped at the very headboard. You can also put something on the top of the tool: a plate with a menu, containers in which wine corks will be collected.

• Work (computer) table... The idea can be implemented in many ways, but it is obvious that the keyboard should be turned into a table top. It looks especially impressive on dark instruments.

• Secretaire... A more luxurious desktop variation.For a large body, an excellent transformation option, although the work is not easy.

Keys from an old instrument are also a shame to throw away, especially if they hold the memory of a piano. And the keyboard can be used as decoration in the interior.

Examples of decor from piano keys.

• Decoration for floor lamp... The keys can become a spectacular floor lamp if they are fixed to its base.

• Housekeeper... Several decorative hooks on the plane of the keyboard fixed to the plywood turn it into an elegant musical key holder.

• Coffee table. You can make a round table musical by laying out the keys in a circle, and fill the core with a suitable white or black material, leveling the surface plane.

• Interior wreath on the door... The keys are laid out on the workpiece in any sequence - you can alternate, you can chaotically.

• Console... The top of the instrument is removed, leaving the body with the keyboard. You can open the lid, and put glass on the keys - they will be under it. You can put anything on the glass surface: vases, candlesticks, figurines, etc.

• Mirror bezel... The keys are fixed with any suitable glue, if necessary, trimmed. You can arrange both a full-length mirror and a smaller sample in this way.

In the house there may not be a place for a piano, sometimes that is why they get rid of it. But in the country, the old instrument will be just right, and not necessarily indoors. The piano can be placed on the terrace or near the house, not very far on the site, turning it into a flower bed. It's simple: the place for flowers is at the very top, that is, the tool practically does not change, it remains intact.

Examples of successful piano and piano beds:

• in a pair, they look even nicer, but one is enough to make the site look more solid;

• perhaps this tool was pre-aged for greater persuasiveness (fortunately, there are a lot of such materials and compositions today);

• when it is not just a flower bed, but also a waterfall - an incredible combination, definitely the highlight of the site;

• a vintage instrument is overgrown with flowers - which is not a symbol of music that causes inner flowering (“and flowers bloom in my soul”);

• and here is a completely decrepit instrument, but it deserves to stay "alive" longer, and it is also nicely complemented by boots that have turned into a flower bed.

One of the most elegant remodeling solutions is the aquarium. The main work will take place in the upper part of the tool, which must be freed as much as possible for arranging a water tank. The bottom of the piano, the keyboard, is most often left unchanged.

Other interesting ideas.

• Furniture for kitchen... And it's not just a bar. You can use the keyboard with a lid as a bar counter, on which it is convenient to put a cup of coffee. The upper surface of the tool is used as a plane where a bread bin, vases, fruit bowl and other kitchen items that do not fit in other places are placed.

• Chest of drawers for the hallway. And so that it does not seem that there is an ordinary piano in the hallway, a rack structure with a flower pots can be attached to the upper part of the body. You just need to take flowers that do not need constant natural light.

• Storage box for garage or workshop... It can be equipped with different hooks and fasteners, drawers, rails, ledges.

• Locker for a needlewoman... A big alteration is also needed, under the keyboard you can make clamps (conditional nails), on which buckets or other suitable cute containers with different fabrics, threads, pins, etc. can be made. At the top you can make a couple of shelves on which to place something what should be in sight. On the uppermost surface, an exhibition plane can be organized for finished works. However, it is better to do the transformation by authoring: the needlewomen surely know that the appetite comes with eating, and design ideas arise already in the process.
