A dog is a friend of man. Everyone knows this from the time of distant childhood. Hearing this expression, few people will think about its meaning, and, most likely, will ignore it, as something banal and insignificant. Meanwhile, these simple words reveal exactly how the relationship between a man and a dog should be built. The history describes many extreme situations when four-legged friends literally saved people's lives.

There are many breeds of these smartest animals, which are very different from each other in purpose, behavior and other biological characteristics. First you need to decide what the dog is for: security, dog shows, decorative option, salvation from loneliness, or something else. Then you need to familiarize yourself not only with the external data of the chosen breed, but also with the conditions of detention, character, training abilities, possible pros and cons of the future pet.

Only then can you go to the nursery. The Miniature Pinscher is one of the breeds that dog lovers often choose.

Short description

Zwerg translated from German means "dwarf", "gnome", hence the name of the breed - miniature pinscher, miniature pinscher. These are miniature service dogs, the appearance of which strongly resembles Doberman Pinschers. As a result, the nickname mini-Doberman was firmly established for them in everyday life. Miniature Pinschers as a breed appeared in Germany more than 300 years ago (the first mentions date back to the 15th century). Purebred breeding began in Germany at the end of the 19th century, the breed received an approved standard.

Miniature Pinschers are distinguished by a strong proportional physique, attractive appearance, graceful posture. These small dogs weighing only 3-4 kg (up to 6 kg) and height at the withers 25-30 cm can live 12-15 years. Long strong limbs and always taut belly characterize the slenderness of the breed. The coat is short, stiff, the hair is dense, there is no developed undercoat, so in cold weather such dogs should be walked in special dog clothes (sold in pet stores).

Character, temperament

Small size (no more than an average cat) and miniature appearance of miniatures can create the illusion of fragility and cowardice, but this opinion is deceptive. These are very mobile, brave, selfless dogs, ready to protect the owner everywhere and everywhere.

They have a protective instinct, are easily trained in service skills, and can be successful guards and watchmen.

The nature energetic, temperamental, self-confident, fearless, without hesitation they can start a fight with a stronger and larger opponent, in the outcome of which the owner has to intervene. But the epithets "aggressive, eccentric" are clearly not about them. With proper upbringing and competent training, these are balanced and friendly pets.

Dignity

The peculiar character of the Miniature Pinschers is not suitable for all people for a comfortable life together, so the advantages and disadvantages of the breed must be studied in advance. Significant pluses:

  • miniature size allows you to keep miniature pinschers even in small apartments;
  • good health without hereditary diseases;
  • have high endurance, easily accompany the owner on long walks over long distances;
  • have a subtle hearing and an impeccable scent;
  • the nature of the coat (without undercoat) and the absence of visible shedding ensure that there are no significant traces of wool and hair in the apartment, which is important for people prone to allergic manifestations, and also greatly simplifies the care of both the animal and the home;
  • the smell of doggy does not spread, it is enough to treat a sweaty pet with damp sanitary napkins and wipe dry with a cotton towel;
  • not picky in nutrition, but you need to carefully monitor that the food is balanced and high-calorie, since the zwergs are very mobile and quickly expend a lot of energy;
  • have a developed security instinct, they can successfully cope with the protection of an apartment or a small house area;
  • well amenable to training, learn to understand and execute commands at the level of large service dogs, quickly get used to obedience;
  • completely devoted to the owner, constantly "monitor" the situation around him for the threat of external danger;
  • accustomed to the litter box, which eliminates the need for a walk during bad weather or severe cold weather.

disadvantages

Of the minuses, the following can be noted:

  • too high activity (in some cases, hyperactivity);
  • desperate cockiness of character, the ability to fight with relatives at the first opportunity and in any conditions of the battle, despite the superior forces of the enemy;
  • make sharp sounds of loud, piercing barking, which is not pleasant to everyone's ears;
  • the zwerg is distrustful of strangers, of the owner's guests, if he suddenly suspects something was wrong, he can easily tear the guests' clothes, or even bite on the leg - the owner needs an “eye and eye” behind him;
  • does not tolerate loneliness: a dog left unattended is able to arrange a real mayhem in the house, ruin the upholstery of furniture, gnaw on shoes and wires;
  • barks loudly, resists and can bite if you have to take away from the dog some object that he liked, therefore there is a constant need to make sure that everything that is valuable or dangerous is in an inaccessible place;
  • the need for high physical exertion to neutralize energy, which requires long and long walks;
  • genetic disposition (from the ancestors of the rat-catchers) to digging the earth, therefore, while walking, you will have to vigilantly monitor so that the blooming flower bed on the site or green plantings in the park do not instantly turn into potholes and bumps;
  • zwergs are smart, but cunning dogs, basically obey the owner if they feel his authority and a "firm hand", the rest of the household is poorly obeyed, self-willed, trying to manipulate, which is a significant disadvantage of the breed, since situations happen in life when the owner has to leave for a long time (business trip, vacation trip, illness, something else).

These restive, mobile mini-Dobermans are suitable for comfortable possession by active, energetic people with a strong character and leadership inclinations. Homebodies with a measured life and people with poor health should not acquire a miniature pinscher.

The decision to have a dog is a very crucial step. We must thoroughly weigh the pros and cons so that we do not have to bitterly regret it.

How painful it is to see homeless animals on the streets, hungry, unkempt, sick, peering in bewilderment at passers-by - if there is a beloved master among them. The eyes of these unfortunate people express human suffering without words.

      To prevent this from happening, you need to think over the main aspects of the pet's stay in the apartment in advance and take into account the attitude of all household members towards pets, you need a clearly balanced decision - emotions and spontaneity are unacceptable here. You must understand that a dog is not a toy, but a living being that has the right to a decent, happy life... In response, the four-legged friend will more than once please the owners with high (according to dog handlers) intelligence and various talents, and will again and again prove his loyalty.
