Celebrating the New Year is a special time that we spend with our loved ones. Important elements of these holidays are the New Year's decoration of the home and the gifts that we give each other. Here the question often arises about what is the best gift. It is advisable to choose something practical that will come in handy at home. Of course, one should always take into account the interests of the recipient, his favorite taste and the style he prefers. Armed with such knowledge, we can safely go shopping.

However, there is nothing more soulful than a one-of-a-kind handmade gift. In addition, the search for gifts for all family members takes a lot of time. And queues and crowds in stores do not contribute to spending long hours in shopping centers. Therefore, when planning purchases for the New Year, it is worth considering the possibility of making gifts with your own hands and making a list of items in advance. This will save time and avoid additional costs.

The most simple crafts

A great gift idea can be to buy souvenirs or essential and practical items for every room in the house. It could be something for the kitchen, dining room, bedroom, or bathroom. Ideally, such an item should be distinguished by both good design and high practical properties.

Original budgetary egg cups, bowls, teapots, pots, trays, wine buckets, plywood and plasticine crafts and other items are just examples of interesting New Year gifts that will always come in handy at home.

However, many more original gifts can be made with a little imagination combined with some knowledge.

  • Painted wooden bowls. Decorate a simple wooden bowl or bowl with small designs such as polka dots, stripes, or flowers.
  • Make a cool collage of newspaper clippings on a topic like sports... You can also add your favorite quote.
  • For women, you can make a gift from small hand towels and fragrant soap. All you need to do is wrap the soap in a towel in a specific way. Such a gift can become a favorite "talisman for the bathroom." To do this, place the soap on a triangle-folded towel. Roll up. Tie the ends together and tie them with an elastic band. Decorate with a red bow. Original horns and "moving eyes" can be purchased at office supplies or other trivia stores. And make a nose out of a piece of any red sticker.
  • For grandmother - a jar with sewing accessories. Head to a dry goods store and buy colorful spools of thread, different sizes of needles, and pins with different colored heads. Take the original jar with a decorative lid. Place your homemade pin cushion on top of it. Attach with thread. Add a note from Santa Claus and you're done. Grandma will be delighted.
  • For grandfather - a frame with pictures of grandchildren. A photo frame is a good gift for any occasion. Grandpa (and Grandma) will surely love the original present with pictures of all of their grandchildren. All you have to do is find an old frame and paint it in your grandfather's favorite color. Drill the holes and thread the wire or thread through the frame to get the attachment. Insert photos of all grandchildren into one or more frames.
  • You can wrap a bottle with wrapping paper (this applies not only to alcohol, but also to all types of cosmetics). Then make a Santa Claus hat. All we need is a piece of fabric or felt, cotton wool and a button. We glue the materials in the form of a hat, attach a button nose and a beard. We put the whole structure on a bottle.
  • Plasticine paintings. To obtain a picture from this plastic material, it is necessary to apply plasticine in layers. The first layer is the elements that are most distant from the eyes, for example, the sky (blue plasticine). Then layers are applied, which should depict closer objects (the sun is yellow), and so on, until a landscape is obtained. Such paintings, depicting New Year's themes, can be presented for the New Year. They will become a rather original present.
  • Plywood gifts... This material has the broadest range of applications. From it you can build a birdhouse, toys in the form of various animals, shelves, hangers or even a table lamp. Plywood is used for the manufacture of furniture - stools or coffee tables. This is a fairly durable material. But he is afraid of moisture. Therefore, it is advisable to polyp and paint products from it.

Plywood is easy to process. Even schoolchildren can easily cut out simple objects from it.

We create original souvenirs

Hand-made crafts are good first of all for their uniqueness. Here are some original items to present as a New Year's souvenir.

  • Bowls with their own design. Give your porcelain a classy look with ceramic paint. Your miniature patterned bowls are a beautiful, creative surprise for anyone who loves to cook.
  • Dyed handkerchiefs. Shawls are versatile. Make your own series of these items by coloring them with different patterns to your liking. And you can always have ready-made souvenirs for your guests.
  • Bottle lamps. A glass or plastic bottle (preferably multi-colored) can be a unique New Year's decoration. All you have to do is place white or colored bulbs inside them and then turn them on. In an instant, an ordinary bottle will become a beautiful lamp!
  • Balloons with confetti. Confetti balloons are a very impressive New Year decoration. To do this, place confetti in a simple transparent balloon. Then place the colored balloon in the transparent balloon and inflate it. And you're done!
  • Multicolored rain of balloons. Another way to use balloons is to place them on silver or gold foil attached to a lamp or ceiling. At midnight, simply pull on the string that will detach the foil from the mount. The balloons will fall to the ground like colored rain.
  • Fiery inscription. The original idea of \ u200b \ u200bdesigning a New Year's Eve is to issue any inscription with matches. On New Year's Eve, it could be the phrase "Happy New Year!" Put it, for example, on a baking sheet. Matches can be glued to the surface with a weak glue. We light all the matches shortly before midnight, and when it's twelve, ask the guests to blow them out.
  • Colored paper rosettes. Paper rosettes made of colorful sheets of paper are ideal as New Year's wall decorations. To make them, you will need colored gift wrapping paper, a metal ruler, pencil, craft knife, hole punch, scissors, and rope. Paper cut into strips can be of different widths — the wider the strip of paper, the larger the rosette you fold.
  • Sew a bag for carrying books, magazines or crafts... Choose a fabric that matches the style of the person you are giving it to.
  • Create a dedicated laptop sleeve for the frequent traveler.
  • Give a pillow, on which an interesting drawing or an original (funny) quote that will lift your mood will be applied.

Or add an appropriate photo to highlight the personal touch.

Useful presents

Homemade gifts can also be helpful. Let's consider some ideas for such presentations.

Handmade candles

Making a candle yourself is pretty easy, following simple guidelines.

  • The master class begins with the subjects used for this work. You will need wax (paraffin), a heavy-bottomed saucepan, a bowl to dissolve the wax in a water bath, a dye, a container (for example, a plastic cup or beer cans), a ready-made wick, a knife, a spatula to level the surface of the wax, and a hair dryer.
  • Instead of buying off-the-shelf paraffin wax, you can also use leftover unburned candles - this is the idea of recycling unnecessary items. If you want the candle to contain additives, be sure to prepare them - for example, lemon zest and others. You will also need aromatic oils.
  • Start by mixing the wax. It should be heated, but not in the microwave. It is best to use a pot with a very thick bottom and dissolve the wax in a water bath. This is quite easy to do. Fill a saucepan about halfway with hot water and place a suitable bowl on top of which to place the wax. Steam rising from the pot heats the bowl and slowly melts the wax.As stated, you can use either store-bought paraffin wax or leftover candles.
  • Prepare the candle shape. This could be, for example, a beer can or a plastic cup. Remember, when the candle hardens, you must cut the mold. It should be an object that you can easily cut with a knife. Of course, you can also make a candle in a glass. Place decorative items such as shells or minced lemon zest at the bottom of the finished mold.
  • To make a scented candle, add a few drops of scented oil and dye to warm wax... If you don't want to use ready-made oils, you can opt for a natural flavor - a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla for a cake would be ideal. Stir gently to spread the paint and oil throughout the entire mass. If you don't want the candle to smell and stain, skip this step.
  • Place a wick in the middle of the prepared mold. You can buy a pre-made one or use an old candle wick.
  • While gently supporting the wick (be careful not to burn yourself), gradually pour out the liquid wax. Using a spatula, level it so that it is evenly distributed in the mold.
  • Freeze the candle. Depending on how hot the wax was, this can take up to 12 hours. To speed up the process, you can blow dry the candle.
  • When your decorative candle is completely solid, remove it from the mold. Cut open a plastic cup or jar and discard it.

If you've used glass, skip this step.

Washi Tape Candles

Start decorating with regular simple candles and then decorate them with washi ribbon patterns. Place them in candlesticks for a better display.

Beeswax candles

Pour melted wax into candlesticks. Add flavors like mocha or cinnamon. And the room will be filled with pleasant incense.

Mittens

Do-it-yourself mittens can be a wonderful New Year's gift. This present is suitable for both adults and children.

With open fingers. These are very practical mittens that do not cover half of the fingers. Thanks to this design, they warm their hands. But at the same time, you can freely make a phone call or get your wallet out of your bag. Now they can be an extravagant, attractive and warm addition to your wardrobe. It's easy to tie them yourself. To do this, you only need a skein of any yarn and a needle with a large eye. A drawing of snowflakes or deer is applied to the product.

Patterns can be made from felt of a different color.

    • For lovers of cooking, we recommend buying a kitchen apron decorated with a New Year's motive. Original cups will also be useful.
    • Interesting mirror, bedding, designer bedside lamp, toiletry bag, good quality towel or beautiful soap dispenser.
    • For women: cosmetics, jewelry, clothing and fashion accessories.
    • "Beautiful" home appliances or massage equipment for body care.

After all, the coming year is favorable for new beginnings and solutions. Biographies, science fiction, and fiction are just as popular.
    • The most popular gifts for men are watches and various types of electronics (telephones with accessories, RTV equipment and multimedia).
    • If you are dealing with a fan of computer games, you should ask the seller what is currently at the peak of popularity. And you need to find out in advance what topic the player is interested in.

    If he loves strategy games, it might not be worth buying the new version of FIFA.

    Remember that toys for children should not only be fun, but also teach and shape the imagination. A common mistake parents make is buying toys that are too large. A four-year-old cannot handle a huge set of Lego bricks. These gifts are great:

    • singing doll;
    • a diary with a password;
    • interactive dog;
    • bear;

    How to pack?

    Plain white, gray or colored decorative paper, cardboard boxes, bags and even old newspapers can be used as gift wrapping. If you choose a template for gift wrapping with a clear graphic motif made of black, white, silver or gold material, then, located under the tree, it will look very impressive.

    Glossy paper with a metallic effect adds elegance to your packaging. Remember, careful execution is important. There should be no noticeable glue, wrinkles or tape. If you cannot pack the goods yourself, buy decorative boxes.

    Wrapping gray paper is the basis of packaging. The colors that blend harmoniously with it are green, red, black and even white. Using a sprig of spruce, a bunch of mountain ash or an ordinary black plastic card, you can beautifully highlight the gift.

    With a printer, you can print, for example, a deer by adding elements cut from colored paper. Jars made of brown cardboard, decorated with a festive accent - a tree or a red bow, look beautiful.

    A holiday gift will also look very attractive if it is wrapped in a decorative bag.

    • You can use a variety of materials such as velvet, embossed leather, felt, thick canvas. Each gift wrap should always be decorated with an elegant satin ribbon, a ribbon with a winter motif, snow-white lace or colored cord.
    • Several different colors can be used. For example, if we wrap gifts in a fashionable eco-style in plain gray paper, then decorative thread of white and red colors will perfectly fit into this festive packaging.
    • New Year's gifts should also be decorated with small items that we can fasten with tape or glue to the packaging. There are enough accessories that can be used to decorate the gift wrapping. For this purpose, small trinkets, paper or metal stars, cones and pieces of bark, twigs, rowan or rose hips, dried flowers and even figurines of small animals are perfect.

    Plain gray or white gift wrapping paper also looks beautiful, adorned with stamps of New Year's motives, such as a snowflake.

        Packing sweet gifts can be very interesting.

        • Giving cookies, chocolates, home canned food, spices or handmade oils is a lot of fun. Sweets are best placed in decorative boxes or jars. Tie them up with a pretty ribbon and lay in some cakes.
        • Jams, preserves, spices are most often found in jars that can be decorated with a ribbon or lace. Do not forget to decorate the lid of the jar with a beautiful festive pattern.
        • Instead of gray paper, you can use an unnecessary newspaper, an old book, a notebook with notes. A few Christmas accents - and you get an unusual ready-made package. The newspaper will be interesting to contrast with the red and green ornaments. Such packaging will delight lovers of simplicity and vintage style. Admittedly, this is an interesting alternative to the New Year's themed paper sold in stores.
        • You can also use colored stationery paper, which it is advisable to decorate yourself or using ready-made stickers.
        • Children will love the gift of sweets, decorated with Christmas balls, lanterns and garlands. Alternatively, instead of the traditional box, you can wrap the gift like candy.
