Keeping keys, especially in a large family, becomes much more organized and tidy if there is a suitable key holder for them. You can do it yourself, for example, in the form of a jute owl - the keeper of the family hearth.

Peculiarities

Jute crafts add a special charm to the home interior. Non-woven thread, being a natural and absolutely safe material for the health of the inhabitants, is suitable both for the design of outdated decorative elements, and for the formation of new ones. The specificity of jute allows us to weave parts from it, and glue pieces into unusual shapes, cut into components and, conversely, tie. This material is well painted over and can be additionally varnished to extend the service life.

Making an owl from jute, then transformed into a housekeeper, is suitable even for novice craftsmen.

Tools and materials

To create a housekeeper owl, you will need old newspapers, burlap and twine, paper tape, papier-mâché, cardboard, PVA glue, small sticks and other materials that are usually always present in household use.

For direct storage of keys, it is recommended to select in advance a strong branch on which the owl will be placed, and the required number of convenient hooks.

How to do it?

A master class on creating a jute owl for beginners will allow you to make an unusual decorative element for storing keys with your own hands. First of all, a lump of such a size is formed from the newspapers, which the bird itself should be. Next, he is wrapped in a plastic bag and carefully wrapped with paper tape. In a similar way, a slightly smaller ball is formed, used for the head of an owl, after which both blanks are pasted over with newspaper strips. After covering them with papier-mâché, you must wait until both balls are dry.

The finished torso with the head is painted in a brown shade and, after drying, is coated with PVA glue and completely decorated with pieces of burlap. The "eyebrows" of an owl are cut out of thick cardboard and pasted over with strips of jute. The eyes are formed from pom-poms, in the middle of which suitable beads are fixed, and the legs are formed from sticks of short length, wrapped in jute and connected in three pieces. For feathers, burlap is suitable, the pattern on which is formed using paper blanks. All the components are connected to each other, and the owl is fixed on a dyed and varnished branch with key hooks.

It should be added that the owl can be completely pasted over with jute using a glue gun. In this case, it should first be dyed brown by soaking it in instant coffee. By adding a small amount of PVA glue to the liquid, the thread will be able to give the required rigidity and prevent it from unwinding. The essence of this master class lies in the fact that cardboard bases of the required shape are made out with jute, twisted in a certain way. For example, as a blank for the body, one-fourth of a roll of cling film is used, filled with newspapers, and wrapped in these places with masking tape to add volume. The body is simply wrapped tightly with twine, starting from the bottom. The bird's legs are created from unbent paper clips, again decorated with jute, and to create the wings, the thread is twisted in the required form simply with the help of glue.
