Crafts from foamiran - a bright, obedient material in the dexterous hands of craftswomen, are gaining more and more popularity these days. It is used to create delicate jewelry, making colorful flowers. With the arrival of spring, any girl wants to dress up, and dandelion, one of the earliest spring flowers, will come in handy here. This article will be useful for those who want to make a dandelion flower with their own hands.

What is required?

Foamiran, revelure or foam are different names for the same material, which resembles plastic suede. The main property of foamiran is the ability to easily acquire the desired shape after heat treatment. The second remarkable feature of this material is that it retains its shape even after cooling. From a high-quality foam, you can make very aesthetic, velvety handicrafts, for example, a bunch of dandelion flowers.

In order to independently make such a bouquet, we need the following.

  • Foamiran sheets are yellow, white and green with a thickness of 1-1.5 mm. It is advisable to purchase a Korean foam that keeps its shape perfectly. It is produced in sheets with a thickness of 0.6-1 mm. Also, Iranian and Turkish foam, which have a rich color palette, are of good quality. It is very convenient to make exquisite details such as flower petals and leaves from Iranian foamiran. Chinese foamiran is more hard, it bends worse and is not suitable for making flowers.
  • Oil pastels, which are great for painting on velvety, textured paper - this material gives a special soft blur to the painted surface. Pastels should be in two colors: green and brown.
  • Brown acrylic paint. Acrylic paints have a very bright color spectrum and UV resistance - they do not fade in the sun at all.
  • A candle or lighter - what is at hand or what you like to use more.
  • Iron.
  • Fast drying glue such as Secunda or any other super glue.
  • Floral green tape, which we will use to decorate the wire stalk of our dandelion.
  • Sharp scissors.
  • A ruler with a length of at least 30 cm.
  • Paper napkins.
  • Several bird feathers.
  • Foil.
  • Thin wire.
  • Any beautiful flower pot.
  • Styrofoam.

In addition, we may need wire cutters, a glue gun, a couple of toothpicks. There are many workshops on the Internet with a step-by-step description of the process of making dandelions from foamiran. We bring to your attention a step-by-step description of the process of making a spring bouquet of dandelions, which will look very natural and beautiful.

This modest, but at the same time bright and cheerful bouquet will cheer you up and serve as a reminder of the sunny summer.

First, we need to cut several strips from a sheet of yellow foamiran 30-35 cm long and 2-2.5 cm wide. The number of such stripes depends on how many dandelion flowers you want as a result. Our bouquet will consist of three yellow fluffy dandelions, so we cut out three stripes. The width and length of these stripes also depend on what size dandelions you want to make.

After you have prepared the strips for dandelions, begin to cut them with sharp scissors on one long side with a fringe. It is necessary to cut the strips in such a way as to leave about 0.3-0.5 cm intact at the opposite edge.

The fringe should be cut thinly enough, but not too much, otherwise our flower will deform too much upon further heating.

After you have made a fringe on all three strips, take an aluminum wire of the required length in our hands and wrap it with tape. We will have three yellow dandelions in full bloom and two white dandelions that have already bloomed, so we need three pieces of wire as long as you want your bouquet to be. The length of our wire is 10cm.

We glue our wire superglue to one of the yellow stripes, aligning one end of it with the end of the strip. You need to drip a little super glue and work carefully, being careful not to stick your fingers together. We begin to carefully wrap the paper strip around the wire, applying glue to the edge of the strip with a toothpick in stages, in small areas. So we glue and fold the entire strip, wrapping it around the wire-stalk and trying to make the strip curl evenly, and its edges coincide. We do the same with the other two yellow stripes.

After all three blanks for dandelions are finished, we take any heating device and begin to achieve the realism of the flowers. You can use a candle or a lighter, firmly following the rule: do not bring the flower closer than 10-15 cm to the flame, otherwise the petals may deform, which will ruin the appearance of the product.

You do not need to hold over the flame for long, first heating the middle and carefully monitoring the process: as soon as it seems to you that the petals are slightly fluffed, you should proceed to heating the outer layer.

Choose the position of the flower above the flame so that the petals of the outer row begin to easily deflect outward by themselves. Having finished with the outer row, we move on to the second and third, adjusting the position of the dandelion above the candle so that the petals, heating up, bend in the right direction. You can also use a regular silk-wool iron or even a hair dryer, directing a stream of warm air towards the dandelion head.

After the flower heats up and fluffs up, you can additionally give the petals the desired shape with your hand.

We make sepals from green foamiran. They can be of various shapes, we recommend that you carefully study the structure of a dandelion before proceeding with its manufacture, achieving its most natural form. You can use a pre-made template that you will apply to green paper and cut sepals and leaves of the required shape and size from it. You can also cut a strip of green foam 3-3.5 cm wide and cut into small cloves. Heat this strip on an iron, applying it for 1-2 seconds in order to give our sepals the necessary bend.

We glue the green strip around the flower. We do the same with the other two dandelions. Cut out three more small sepals, consisting of 12 equal petals. We scroll these sepals in the fingers, giving them a natural plastic shape, after which we pass them through each flower stem and glue the sepals, decorating the irregularities obtained during the formation of the large sepal.

Let's move on to making the leaves of the plant. To do this, you can also make a template by first looking at how the leaves of a real dandelion work. Cut out leaves from green foamiran, 1-2 per plant. We draw veins to our liking. We glue the leaves to the aluminum wire, slightly toning them with green oil pastels.

Now add 1-2 white dandelion flowers to make our bouquet look even more natural. To do this, we need a piece of foil 8 cm long and 6 cm wide, from this piece we need to form a dense ball, which should be made a little flat on one side.

This will be the base for our white, almost flown dandelion.

A piece of wire of the required length with a formed loop at one end is glued to our workpiece. We wrap the base of the white dandelion with white foamiran. We wrap it with green tape. Glue the sepal from below. We draw brown dots with a toothpick, dipping it in acrylic paint.

We cut the thin wire into small pieces a little less than 2 cm long, there should be about 10 such pieces. Wrap the wires with white tape. Paint over the bottom of the resulting pieces with brown acrylic paint. Finely chop our bird fluff, dip the end of the small wire blanks in glue, then carefully glue the chopped feather.

We pierce holes in the white dandelion with a needle, dip the brown ends of the cut wire in glue and insert into the resulting small holes. Putting together our composition. We form a bouquet by laying out the leaves outside and removing excess wire. Decorate with green tape.

We take a flower pot, glue its bottom with glue and insert a piece of polystyrene there, cut to the size of the pot. With a stick we make holes in the foam and one by one we glue our dandelions there. Cover the foam with glue and sprinkle with dried tea leaves, which will imitate the soil.
