Making a lamp in the form of a doll from Isolon

An isolon lamp in the form of a doll will delight many girls, and in some cases even their mothers. It is quite possible to make this design on your own, taking as a basis a plastic shade and an already unnecessary Barbie.

The main material used to create the doll lamp is izolon. In hardware stores, such an insulation product can also be found under the name polyethylene foam. Despite the fact that izolon is available in different thicknesses, it is better to give preference to sheets with this indicator equal to 2 millimeters.

There are also two types of material: sewn and non-sewn. The first one has improved characteristics due to preliminary processing, but it is more expensive. The price of an unstitched isolon is much less, but it also manifests itself worse.

Izolon is easily cut with ordinary scissors, so an everyday type of tool is quite enough to create a craft. For in order to modify the material, you will need a building hair dryer, although you can try to work with an ordinary household device. A glue gun with rods is most often used to fix parts, although a stapler, wire or thread is possible.

I must say that isolon is in most cases sold only in white, however, you can try to find a foil variety of yellow, green or red colors. To obtain other shades, the sheets of material will need to be painted, however, for this purpose, not the first solution that comes across is suitable.

Water-soluble paints do not stick to the isolone at all.

The solution supplied from the can is easy to apply and dries quickly, but its consumption is very high, and the pigmented particles begin to crumble pretty soon.

Acrylic enamel is suitable in all respects, but it must be applied using a spray gun. Rubber paint is also good, but the finish will require additional varnishing if a shiny finish is required.

To independently design a lighting element for a night light, the master will also need to prepare a cartridge with a ring, an energy-saving light bulb, an adapter sleeve, a wire, a plug and a switch.

To make an isolon lamp doll with your own hands, it is better to use the step-by-step instructions contained in a rather simple master class. Such a night light on a ceiling will ideally fit into a bedroom for children, and it will be more interesting to make it for the whole family.

To create a night light, you need a ready-made doll, for example, a Barbie, a shade, scissors, glue and a hair dryer. Izolon should be presented in the amount of 10 sheets with sides of 20 centimeters and 10 sheets with sides of 10 centimeters. In addition, a purple permanent marker, a screwdriver with bolts, as well as a green foamiran in the form of 5 sheets with sides of 4 and 8 centimeters, a pair of thin strips and one wide one are useful.

The work begins with the fact that the lower limbs are removed from the doll, a hole is formed with a screwdriver. A hole of the same size is also made in the upper part of the plastic shade. One side of the bolt is inserted into the hole of the lamp, and on the other end the doll is "pushed". The parts are fixed to each other with glue.

At the next stage, you will need to make a skirt from isolone. For each square workpiece, 3 corners are cut off so that a droplet is formed.

The edge of the sheets must be circled with a color marker of a harmoniously combined shade, after which each one must be warmed up with a hairdryer. First, the edges are actively blown, which are then slightly stretched to obtain a natural wave, and then the middle of the workpiece is warmed up and, stretching, is transformed into a depression. Droplets with sides of 20 centimeters are fixed on the plafond in one row. This should be done in such a way that the edge drops slightly and bends. Further, the remaining twenty-centimeter blanks form the second row, staggered.

The droplets with sides of 10 centimeters are arranged in a similar manner, creating the third and fourth rows from the top.

Small leaves are cut out of a green shade of foamiran, which are then glued to the doll's waist. Thin stripes are fixed at the top of the luminaire, as if creating the letter "y".

The surface of the waist is wrapped on top with a thick foamiran tape. The finished lamp can be decorated with glitter, half-beads, rhinestones, bows, satin ribbons and any other decorative elements. At the end of the process, a socket with bulbs is installed in the lamp.

I must say that, Several techniques can be used to form an isolone dress for a doll. First, when warming up, the material is stretched to form folds. Secondly, a cone-shaped base is formed for the dress, on which, after rows, petals of the same shape and size are glued with hot glue. Thirdly, the isolon can be cut into ribbons, which are then twisted around the same base cone, forming tiers. The movement should start from the waist of the doll.

For to make a night light in the shape of an angel, you don't even need some new MK, since the Barbie with beautiful izolon wings will perfectly cope with the task. However, you can simply make the little body of the figurine from izolon and fix it like a doll's skirt, and decorate the head from a mother-of-pearl ball decorated with a wire halo.

If you make an isolon skirt in the same way as flowers are created from this material, and also choose a suitable doll, then instead of an ordinary doll, you will get a fairy peeking out of a flower bud. Izolon is used in two shades: white and pink, with larger white blanks being used to form the lower rows, and pink ones for the upper ones. The ends of the petals, treated with hot air, curl up beautifully. The decoration of the doll itself is carried out not only with the help of a beautiful outfit, but also with shiny wings.

Another doll-shaped lamp looks extremely unusual due to the combination of snow-white petals and a colored LED light bulb, which creates an original backlight. In the hands of the figurine there is a small rose made of polymer clay, the shade of which matches the shade of the edge of the petals.

In the case when the isolon skirt is made simple, consisting of one beautifully draped sheet, you can additionally decorate it with lace stripes on the hem, as well as small rhinestones "scattered" over the entire surface. The top of the dress is designed accordingly, that is, using the same materials.

Another unusual design option for a night light doll involves the use of foamiran to create the top of the dress. From the same material, small decorative elements are cut out on a stencil, after which they are located on large white petals. I must say that the latter have not a drop-shaped, but an almost round shape, which expands the doll's dress. To create beautiful curves, heating with an ordinary hairdryer is used.
