How to make a lamp in the shape of an owl from an isolon?

Recently, crafts from izolon are increasingly used to decorate the interior of an apartment. For example, a lamp in the shape of an owl, made of modern material, will be an excellent decoration for a child's room.

To create a luminaire from izolon, first of all, you need izolon itself. This insulating material, often referred to as polyethylene foam, is actively used in construction. There are two types of isolon: non-stitched and stitched. The cost of non-stitched samples is less, since they do not undergo special processing. A sewn isolon has better characteristics, and therefore costs more.

To create a luminaire, a medium-sized sheet with a thickness of 2 millimeters is more suitable. However, you can also buy a whole roll, the thickness of which will vary from 2 millimeters to a whole centimeter. As a rule, isolon is white, but some foil options can be painted. The polyethylene foam can be easily cut with both regular scissors and a special construction knife, so both tools are suitable for work. The material does not ignite at high temperatures, but it can stick together.

You can use glue, a stapler and thread to fix the parts - all options will be successful. It should also be borne in mind that izolon does not absorb any paints and varnishes, except for acrylic paints. Since the izolon owl will perform not only a decorative, but also a lighting function, before work you will need to purchase all the materials necessary for this: a cartridge with a ring, a LED LED lamp up to 7 watts, a wire with a plug, a switch and other parts. It is most convenient to strip the end of the wire with a clerical knife.

There are several MK options for creating an owl lamp of varying complexity, but it is recommended to start creating a decorative element with one that can be made on a finished plafond. In this case, a plastic ball-shaped lamp and a pair of plastic 1.5-liter bottles with a rounded top are used as additional elements.

• It is more convenient to start with the bird's head. For both plastic bottles, the top is cut off along with the neck. Sewing two blanks together, you can get an owl head slightly elongated in width. In this case, it is more correct to fix the parts together with ordinary white threads. At the next stage, the head is fixed to the body.

• To do this, first, at the bottom of the plastic blank, you will need several cuts with a depth and width of 1 to 1.5 centimeters. If you bend them up, you will have to get a kind of "fence", providing ease of gluing. The bird's head is fixed to the body with hot glue.

• Bird feathers are cut from an isolone of either one or several colors. Having cut out a sufficient number of equal-sized parts, they will need to be glued in layers on hot glue, following from bottom to top. It is especially important to mask all joints with feathers.

• If you plan to make the owl multi-colored, then it is better to draw the transition borders with a simple pencil. Tinted feathers are staggered. In order for the isolon to be better fixed, it, already in the glued state, can be lightly treated with a hairdryer, and then pressed with your hand for a few seconds.

• Bird wings are created separately from the same isolone 2 mm thick and aluminum wire. Having cut out the wing, on one side it is necessary to attach a curved piece of wire to hot glue, after which it will be necessary to press the metal with scraps of isolon until the glue substance is completely dry.

• Further, each wing must be pasted over with tinted isolon feathers. The front part of the blank must be filled almost completely, with the exception of the "shoulders" zone, which is formed after fixing the limbs on the body of the bird. The inner part of the wing will need to be pasted over with feathers only to the middle, and its upper zone is processed in such a way that each feather seems to bend over the edge. If the cloves stick out, then you can slightly warm them up with a hairdryer.

• Owl ears can be made from the remains of a plastic bottle. To do this, you will need to cut two strips, the thickness of which will be 3 centimeters, and the length - 8 centimeters. Each workpiece is bent in half, its lower edges are bent one centimeter upward, and the upper part is cut at an angle. Having fixed the workpiece with glue, it is necessary to place it on the owl's head, gluing the bent lower edges.

• To complete the creation of the lamp, the owl will need to glue isolon or foamiran eyes and cilia. To create them, a strip of material will need to be cut into a fringe and heated with a hairdryer to obtain a beautiful bend. A bow, hat, buttons or other elements are suitable as a decor for a bird. It should be added that if you make the owl's feathers more chaotic and thin, then the "shaggy" lamp will be able to better transmit the light of the bulb. The wings can also be made larger and turned upward with a long wire that is attached directly to the shade.

To give the lamp owl fluffy, rounded izolon feathers, you can additionally cut them in the form of a fringe, and then be sure to warm it up with a hairdryer. Instead of eyes made of polyethylene foam, you can purchase plastic eyes used for sewing soft toys in a specialty store.The fluffy tassels of the bird, also decorated with fringe, are decorated with a satin ribbon.
