Description

Isolone rose is a large-format product that looks attractive and aesthetically pleasing when done correctly. This material is a type of polyethylene foam intended for thermal insulation of buildings and structures, and also used as a substrate when laying laminate flooring. It is produced in rolls and can have a thickness of 0.2 to 10 mm. The color scheme of the material in hardware stores is mainly limited to green, red, yellow and white tones. In themed outlets specializing in creative goods, you can find any shades you need.

When choosing an isolone to create roses, it is important to consider the following points.

  1. Appointment. For photo zones and growth crafts, a thicker material is chosen, since it is more intensely exposed to mechanical stress. In home decor, you can safely use the thinnest sheets. These roses will decorate a festive table or will be a good addition to the decoration of the bedroom.
  2. The quality of the material. A proper craft base has physical seams, a smooth outer surface, and a resilient structure.
  3. The presence of a foil coating on one side. It will become an additional plus in those cases when you need to make decorative elements for the interior, photo zone, thematic space.
  4. Web width. For the production of the most popular - growth, flowers, an isolon 1 m wide is used.

When working, it is important to know the basic points that have to be taken into account when using a specific material. In the case of isolon, realized for technical needs, we are almost always talking about a very limited range of colors. In this case, acrylic paints, which cover the workpiece, help to make the product realistic. To obtain a reliable result, the master needs to carefully study all the features of a living rose: the location of the veins, the shape of sepals and petals, their bends. All Izolon products are created using the simplest possible set of tools:

  • tailor's scissors or a cutting knife;
  • a building or household hair dryer with heating over 80 degrees;
  • professional thermal gun - it is needed to be able to switch temperatures;
  • adhesive tape;
  • stapler with staples and thread.

Almost all the necessary components are usually at the disposal of a home craftsman. To work with isolon, when creating roses, tubular blanks for the middle (usually made of cardboard) are used, as well as individual elements for the petals - they are cut out according to a stencil or arbitrarily, from square blanks 10 × 10, 12 × 12, 15 × 15, 20 × 20 , 50 × 50 cm. The minimum thickness of an isolone for creativity is 2 mm, the larger the format, the thicker the base should be.

For in order for the material to acquire a more rounded and voluminous shape, it is enough to heat it up to +70 degrees, and then give it the desired look with your hands. So, on a flat sheet, it turns out to create a raised edge, making the flower very similar to the real one.

Creation of waviness is also easy: under strong tension, the material takes on a slight resemblance to corrugated paper - this effect can be used when creating crafts.

An ordinary stem is enough to hold small rose flowers from isolon: most often it is made of green wire braided. Large-format structures are installed on a support made of metal-plastic or polypropylene pipes, supplemented with a solid base. It is important to remember that large-format products made from this material are not very stable; they need a rather massive stand or reliable support to stay flat. Perforated metal elements are used for wall fixing of flowers.

The formation of a rose from an isolone begins with a central bud, which is surrounded by half-open petals. Then the flower itself is created. On the outer layer, the petals are already fully open. A styrofoam ball or crumpled paper is often used to make the bud.

Step-by-step workshops for beginners

A bouquet, basket or a whole bush of luxurious roses is an excellent solution for adding variety to the typical decor of a house or apartment, a suburban area, a photo studio. Large growth flowers are perfect for using decorations when decorating amateur performances. Small roses in a flowerpot, vase or pot will decorate a balcony, terrace, window sill. Unusual table, floor, wall compositions also look interesting. They are drawn up:

  • on a glass or on a glass;
  • on the pipe;
  • in a hat box;
  • in the basket.

Such a composition can be put on a bedside table or used to decorate the hall on the day of the celebration. The volumetric backlit design is well suited for a photo zone at a wedding or for a photo shoot in the spirit of "Alice in Wonderland". In the design of the garden, you can frame the gazebo or the entrance to the house with such flowers, they make wonderful decorative elements for the playground.

The color scheme of isolon has changed quite noticeably with the growth of its popularity in the decorative sphere. Today on sale you can find pink, black and white two-tone, red, yellow, blue, lilac, brown, gold, peach, cream, blue, orange, in a shade of turquoise, purple, burgundy, tea base for flowers in the desired thickness. Moreover, there are much more color nuances. For example, pink can be "Barbie" and "fuchsia", "cherry" and "powdery".

The scheme for creating rose petals and assembling them with your own hands is not too difficult. For work, it is important to accurately and correctly calculate the size of the pattern, prepare a stencil or templates of several types, depending on the complexity of the flower.

All parts can have 1 shape, but different dimensions - this should be taken into account when scaling. On average, 1 flower takes 1.5-3 m2 of material.

The procedure for creating a rose from isolone will be as follows.

  1. Patterns for leaves and petals are cut out of thick cardboard. You can do without them - then the blanks are cut arbitrarily.
  2. Cut the isolon into rectangles and squares. For a large growth flower, about 30-35 cm2 of green material and 1 m2 of color material with a thickness of 3 mm are needed for leaves and stem. The squares are made in sizes 23 × 23 cm, 25 × 25 cm, 27 × 27 cm, 4 rectangles 15 × 30 cm are also needed.
  3. The middle of the flower is made from a sleeve for foil or paper towels, you can also glue a cardboard tube of the required diameter yourself. A lump of cling film, scotch tape or paper is wound at its end.
  4. Izolon is heated over a building hair dryer. The petals are curved and shaped by hand.
  5. Rectangular elements are attached around the ball with a thermal gun with a heating temperature of + 80 degrees. All joints are warmed up with a hairdryer, the bud is crushed with hands. Then, in a circle, from smallest to largest, the remaining petals are fixed.
  6. A sepal with a cruciform slot in the center is cut out in a single piece. Heats up and crumples. Fits over the sleeve of the flower.
  7. Leaves are cut out. They are attached to a wire wrapped in corrugated paper, a strip of isolon is glued on the reverse side. The workpieces are warmed up, crumpled, fixed on a green flower rack or other base. It remains to put a rose on the sleeve on top of the stand.

The flower is ready. It can be installed in the interior, on the terrace or in any other place, if necessary, the structure is easy to clean, cleaned of dust.

Lamp making instruction

Beautiful openwork roses from izolon are not afraid of heating, they can be fixed on an old lampshade, giving it a second life. But it will be much easier to create an original sconce with a wall mount. It is better to make it from an isolon of light shades. The order of work will be as follows.

  1. Cut out the material. Rectangular petals 20 × 15 cm are cut from isolon - there will be 5 of them, 15 pieces of medium size with a drop-shaped end 20 × 20 cm and large round ones with parameters 25 × 25 cm unopened bud. It is not necessary for the detail to comply with the shape - the decor options with heterogeneous petals look much more interesting.
  2. Center formation. For it, a socket for a low-power candle lamp is used, placed in a spherical open shade. The longest petal is spirally wrapped around it, glued with a thermal gun. Then the middle is carefully formed from narrow parts, folded in half at the base, it is better to warm the petals with a hairdryer and bend them separately.
  3. The sizes of the petals increase in stages, they are fixed in a spiral, slightly shifting each row. It is important to fix them just above the core, opposite each other, so that the edges overlap. This will prevent the flower from scattering. The last rows of large petals are fixed first on the rounded center, and then the core is inserted into this base. Here, from the inside, a loop is attached for hanging on the wall.

How to make an unopened bud?

To make an unopened rose bud, you need to use the same elements as for an ordinary flower. For the central part, you will need 4 blanks 8 × 12.5 cm, 6 pcs. 12.5 x 12.5 cm, 5-part sepal with a common center. The center of the flower is formed from the scraps of the isolon using adhesive tape. It is made pear-shaped, a cardboard tube is inserted into the center, and cocktail straws can be used for smaller items.

An unopened bud is formed from 3 narrow pieces around the core. They are carefully glued to it and to the base with a thermal gun. Then the resulting workpiece is heated with a hairdryer and collected in the center, crushing the petals. You should get a closed core. The last rectangular petal is attached to the workpiece, processed with a hairdryer so that its edges are slightly bent outward.

Then, in a circle, 3 in a row, large square parts are attached, pre-treated with a jet of warm air. Depending on the desired splendor of the bud, all or part of the elements can be used. Sepal, leaves are made in the same way as a regular large rose

... The stem can be a natural twig or its wire analogue.
