Waste material is something that has served its purpose, but it's a pity to throw it away. More precisely, someone may not be sorry, but a creative person will find something for which it can be adapted. And all kinds of contests in kindergartens and schools motivate such impulses, where just such waste "ingredients" should become tools and materials. But they are good not only for children's exhibitions: they are also used for making cozy crafts for the home.

Kindergarten ideas

To begin with, it is worth describing the algorithm for finding waste material. Crafts made from garbage and waste are somehow not very pleasant, but in fact, conscious consumption enters this territory as well.

You can, for example, conduct an audit of kitchen cabinets: there may be plastic cups, already unnecessary packaging for cereals and other products, some lids from lost cans, plastic dishes, boxes, etc. And all this is material for the creator.

Let's see what ideas for the creativity of preschoolers grow out of what was found.

  • Autumn forest... Crafts with animals are a classic of the genre. But not only bumps and acorns can figure in this. In addition to natural materials, you can use the remnants of cereals, packaging cardboard, packaging tapes, rustling cellophane (depicts a forest stream).

On the theme of "Autumn", you can make a composition with a school of birds flying away for the winter, which will be depicted using watermelon seeds, and glossy leaves can be formed from cellophane from pasta packaging.

  • Walk... Children like it when they themselves appear in the applique. So the child's body can be drawn (hat and hair), and the face can be cut out of the photo, or simply printed out on a printer.But various household waste will create a background for an autumn walk: dried greenery can depict the foliage on the trees, old shoelaces, the path in the park - matte foil from a chocolate bar or something like that.

However, the walk can be not only autumn, but also winter. And snow can imitate styrofoam, cotton pads, just cotton wool, salt, semolina, etc.

  • Portrait... It is even more interesting to compose a portrait of a person from everything in a row. Hair is made from wrapping paper (cut into shavings and curled with a pencil), the face itself is made from a pink or beige bag, the nose can be contoured using chocolate packaging, etc.

You can go in a narrow direction, take not everything in a row, but, for example, only packaging from products. Or just plastic. You can use fragments of clothing that is being discarded. You can take strictly peel from vegetables and fruits. Handicrafts are also interesting, in which mechanisms from old watches, etc. are added.

In a word, everything that is already ready to go to the landfill must be carefully examined: perhaps it is ready to be reborn in creative hands.

School options

As the child grows up, the level of complexity of the work also grows. And the topics there are already more precise, and the materials required are more specific. For example, a competition for handicrafts from recycled materials or a competition on environmental issues.

Here are 10 creative craft ideas for school shows and competitions.

  • A tree made of magazine confetti. Each hypermarket has its own magazines advertising goods and promotions. If you take a hole punch, you can grind the sheets of these magazines in it: you get a lot of variegated colored circles. They will become the foliage of an unusual tree. And as a barrel, you can use, for example, thick wrapping paper or cardboard, a fragment of an old belt, or even a rectangular piece cut from a shampoo package. This will be an applique.
  • Grocery box bus... If you take a large, dense box (for breakfast cereals, for example), and attach wheels to it from the lids of large water bottles, cut out windows from foil or cellophane, then you can design a school bus. Also, light garbage bags will work for creating transparent windows.
  • Mushrooms from light bulbs. The light bulb will become the stem of the mushroom. It can be painted in the desired color. And make a hat from a convex plastic lid or just a lid covered with a cloth with a filler placed under it.
  • Pictures from pencil shavings. It seems to be a separate art form. Silhouettes of beauties, flower arrangements, transport and just fantasy patterns are made of them. And it always turns out beautifully.
  • Robot made of cardboard boxes. Schoolchildren really like this kind of creativity: they get a beautiful character that is made of ordinary light brown boxes. He can also make ear-antennas from foil, eyes from plastic caps, etc. It is interesting to do this for the whole family.
  • Caterpillar from packages... Here again, the principle of simple ideas is involved: a colored bag is taken, filled, for example, with a padding polyester, tied at regular intervals (hair ties can be used) to make a long, voluminous strip with many round sectors. At the very first, eyes and a mouth are made.
  • A garland of plastic rings. By the principle of addition, the craft is easy, but you will have to spend several evenings on it. It is necessary to cut several plastic bottles, containers into equal circles. It can be one color or several. Between themselves, you need to either stitch these circles (sew on a typewriter), or fasten them with a stapler. And then use it as a garland.
  • Rattle curtain. This is hung in some kind of arch. On the ropes, you need to string any plastic waste material: yoghurt cups, lemonade and milk bottle caps, tea bags, etc. And then these threads are fixed at the top on the crossbar of a wooden structure. It will turn out to be something fun and even with sound.
  • Organizer for stationery... This is where you can put notebooks, folders, documents, etc. Most often, it uses tall packages of cornflakes and sticks. The box must be cut with a corner, pasted over with wrapping paper. You can make a tag on it. And next to other small cardboard boxes, you can also adapt sectors for buttons, paper clips, erasers, pens, etc.
  • Casper from the white package. This is such a funny ghost, which was, rather, known at the school age of parents, but children may know him. You can inflate the ball, wrap it in a white bag, use plasticine or something similar to form Casper's handles (it will be under the bag). Do not forget to make his face in any convenient way.

One idea clings to another, one has only to understand that recyclable materials can still be useful.

Unusual home crafts

And a few more master classes that demonstrate the charm of crafts from not the most remarkable materials.

From disposable tableware

The most popular option is a plastic spoon mirror frame. At first glance, you can't tell what it is made of. But you can also paint it, and then the mirror will be just like from a store.

A short creation algorithm looks like this.

  1. A mirror is glued to a sheet of plywood, cut to the desired size. Disposable spoons are stacked and glued around (the legs must be cut off in advance).
  2. You can take colored spoons in advance, or you can paint them with acrylic paint: either in one color, or by the principle of a gradient.
  3. In the first row, you can use transparent spoons, in the others - opaque matte... There are a lot of options.

In place of the mirror, there may be a frame for a photo, the principle of creation is the same.

From bottles

One of the simplest crafts from plastic bottles is containers for bulk materials, which will definitely find their place in the kitchen. The principle of creation is as simple as possible: you need to cut off two bottoms of the bottle: one is larger, the second is cut lower. The first will be the container itself, the second will be the lid. As a result, the lid will quietly close the plastic container. And to make all this look more aesthetically pleasing, you can make black stickers-tags, where it will be written what is inside.

These stickers are sold for pennies on Asian sites, and they come with a white marker or chalk for signatures.

From tires

From an old tire, you can get an excellent ottoman for your home. True, everything will not work out in a couple of minutes, you will have to try.

What should be done:

  1. it is necessary to cut out plywood circles, which will become the bottom of the ottoman and its own seat;
  2. "Plant" these circles on the tire on any suitable fastener;
  3. glue the rope (jute) in the center and lay it in a circle on the glue;
  4. so upholstery the entire tire, except for the bottom.

From plastic bags

The most unexpected (for many) and at the same time simple option is decorating hangers. Ordinary plastic hangers in the closet look so-so: just dark, no beauty. And if you want it to be somehow more fun inside the closet, you can transform the hangers. You need to take translucent plastic bags of different colors: pink, blue, yellow, green, etc. Cut them into ribbons. And then rewind the ribbons, observing the order, around the hangers. You can make them rainbow, you can make them one-color, but in total you get a set of multi-colored hangers.

For a baby wardrobe, this is just a godsend. The models are also soft, there will be no puffs on delicate fabrics from the sharp edges of the hangers.

From traffic jams

If you take wine corks and an ordinary box for flowers (seedlings), you can get a very beautiful interior element. Moreover, it is completely practical. It's simple, you just need to fix the corks on the hot glue around the perimeter of the box.... Only initially it is worth considering what pattern they will fold, they will attach at an angle or straight.

And it can also be a whole thematic composition, for example, several of these boxes on the windowsills. They can be supplied with self-made coasters for hot dishes.The corks do not need to be covered with anything, they serve well without varnish and other impregnations. With corks, you can put a small tray with high sides on which, for example, a teapot, a sugar bowl, a container with cookies will stand.

From cans

Tin cans are a valuable makeover item. The easiest way is to make a bright and unique pencil holder out of them. For example, just paste over such a tin with decorative narrow tape (strips from different coils), and the pencil holder is ready in 10 minutes. You can cut the fabric into shreds, paste over the jar with them, and depict the seams at the joints with a black marker: you get a very cute pencil holder in the patchwork style. It can also be decorated with a knitted border, for example.

And it is also very beautiful to grow greens on the windowsill in a tin: arugula, dill, parsley. Only the jars first need to be painted with spray paint, gold, for example. And make black tags with inscriptions that grows in a pot (the inscriptions can be in Latin). A twine tied around the can and tied to a bow will crown the perfect and simple creation.

From cupcake wrappers

Paper flowers are great, they are made from music paper, from crepe paper, from foil. But the flowers from the cupcake wrappers also turn out wonderful, this is the very charm. They just need to be bent correctly, supplemented with light patterns with a white marker, put one inside the other and strung on a stem (a wooden skewer wrapped in tape), and now the flower is ready. And inside it, in the core, you can put a button, a rhinestone, a bead, etc. Three such flowers are already a bouquet for a narrow vase. And the vase, by the way, can be from a tin.

Also, flowers from the wrappers can decorate a volumetric applique, and here there is a place to play with both color and size, and with the inclination of opening the "accordion" edges of the wrapper.
