Cardboard is an inexpensive, natural material, convenient in making crafts from it, including with children's hands. Houses are often made from it: New Year's and ordinary, small and large, ready to become part of a plot composition or an independent decor.

Preparation

If you decide to make a large house for children, in which you can play, being right inside the structure, preparation will be required. It starts with a sketch of the craft: a general idea of how visually a cardboard house will be. It can be a two-story building or an imitation of a village hut - there are many options.

Attention! If the house is not supposed to be a playhouse, but is needed as a craft for school or kindergarten, it can be made according to the same instructions, but reduced in size to acceptable ones.

Patterns will also not be superfluous, especially if the authors of the house have not previously performed such works and, in principle, with this kind of creativity are rare.

It is convenient to make patterns on wallpaper, newspapers and other similar materials.

Then these samples will be transferred to the cardboard, for the accuracy of cutting the cardboard, they are produced. The optimal size of the house can be considered 120x80x80 cm.

What kind of cardboard to use - the best option is probably corrugated cardboard sheets. Some building markets sell moving boxes. There you can also pick up a box that will ideally match the size of the house in height. If you still take sheets, then 2-3 will be enough.

A list of everything you need to build a house:

  • cardboard;
  • large sharp scissors (or a clerical knife);
  • wide tape;
  • PVA glue;
  • long ruler;
  • markers and pencils;
  • glue gun;
  • fabric / colored paper / wallpaper remnants.

This house will have a very beautiful, intricate roof. Masonry is made of cardboard, imitating tiles.

If this seems tricky, you can simply make a smooth gable roof.

But the option with tiles creates a completely different impression: the laboriousness of such a pattern will justify the future result.

Step-by-step instruction

The scheme for making a cardboard house is standard: first, a sketch is made. You can take a ready-made one, it is not necessary to draw yourself.

Here's what to do next.

  1. Patterns are drawn on paper, wallpaper, newspaper sheets. The patterns with walls and roof are transferred to cardboard.
  2. According to the outlined lines, details of the future design are cut out with scissors or a clerical knife. They need to be weighed against each other so that the house is not skewed. Correction of details, if necessary.
  3. The structure should have 4 walls, a roof with 2 slopes with open ends for ventilation. Roof finishing is the final stage in making a house, therefore you need to wait with it, not immediately after the formation of two slopes.
  4. The parts are connected with tape and glue. The tape should evenly go over the two parts to be glued with a strip so that the fastening is strong and without deformation.
  5. On one side of the house, you need to make a door: such that the child can climb into the house. The door is cut off on three sides; on the fourth, it remains merged with the body of the house. The place of closing can be strengthened with tape in several layers so that frequent opening of the door does not loosen it.
  6. This is followed by the design process. The house can be painted and it will look fundamentally different. You can paste over it with wallpaper, and it will become elegant and charming. Can even be upholstered with fabric.
  7. Roof masonry is the cutting of identical cardboard pieces that will mimic shingles. On hot melt glue and / or scotch tape, they are fixed to the slopes. Cardboard fragments can also be painted brown or burgundy, you can also paste over them with wallpaper.

If you want to make the house cozy with your own hands, you can hang curtains in the windows (the simplest tulle).

Some craftsmen make outdoor window sills by forming ordinary cardboard ledges. Toy flower pots or plush cats are placed on these windowsills. Yes, it is more logical that both flowers and cats sit inside the house, but this way they will not be noticeable enough.

You can also make paper flowers (flat, bright) and glue them to the wall of the house next to the door, imitating flower beds.

It is worth noting again: such a house, only smaller in size, is also suitable for making crafts in the garden.

And if the craft must be in the autumn theme, you can put a maple tree with golden foliage on a stand next to the house. It is also made from cardboard or paper.

Unusual options

For the manufacture of crafts for kindergarten and school, the use of non-standard materials is often a condition. And such options are provided for the construction of a house.

From bushings

The most boring life can be turned into fun creativity. An example of this is the toilet paper sleeves, from which the house will be built.

Let's see how to make such a structure.

  1. Cut the bushings lengthwise and twist them into tubes. It is convenient to glue the edges with a hot gun.
  2. Some of the tubes should be cut and glued together, focusing on the photo. It will look like Baba Yaga's hut. Cylindrical bushings imitate logs wonderfully.
  3. The roof can be made of cardboard - in this case, a tea box is used.
  4. The walls must be treated with wood putty, which will completely mask the holes inside the bushings.
  5. Cut out a window from colored cardboard or colored thick watercolor paper. Simply drawn, without the volume of the shutters, it does not look so impressive. Therefore, the first detail is a yellow (from the light inside) window, the second is the shutters glued over the window.
  6. The roof also needs to be decorated. To paint the visible part, which will be without a snow cap.Then you need to form that very snow cap, which is more convenient to do with ordinary cotton wool. And to make the snow shine, cotton wool can be sprinkled with a layer of hairspray (with silver sparkles).
  7. The basis for the house will be a plastic sour cream jar. It is fixed to the body with hot glue. It also wraps itself in cotton wool.

On the roof, you can make a pipe using part of the sleeve and cotton wool. All other decorations are to the taste and imagination of the author. It turns out a very cute fairy-tale house from the most unexpected cardboard base.

From newspaper tubes

Any paper can be used in this MK, but the newspaper is the most reliable option. It is available and has been tested more than once in similar crafts.

What else is required:

  • PVA glue
  • polyurethane adhesive
  • scissors
  • wooden sticks (skewers for kebabs)
  • metal knitting needle for curling paper.

If the house is to be painted, brushes and paints will be required.

For better bending of the tubes, a rolling pin may be needed, it rolls them, and they become pliable.

Let's analyze the course of work.

  1. To make a straw, you need a newspaper strip up to 30 cm long and 6 cm wide. A tube is created using a knitting needle, on which the paper is "put on" and rolled back and forth. The edges of the element are cut obliquely so that the tubes can be inserted into each other. To understand the optimal diameter of the part, a stick-skewer is inserted inside, and it is necessary to be equal to it.
  2. The edges of the tubes can be glued using PVA so that the tubes do not fall apart or deform.
  3. When all the parts are twisted, ready, you can assemble the house. Basically, they do it according to the "well" principle. All parts will have to be glued together. The roof consists of two cardboard slopes, which are also pasted over with tubes (but you can arrange it differently, if the author has ideas, for example, pasted over with thick dark felt).
  4. The windows are not cut through, they need to be cut out of colored paper - separately the glass itself, and separately the shutters, and then glued to the base. If PVA does not hold windows well, you can use polyurethane foam glue. You just need to glue on an already painted base.
  5. You can paint the house with gouache, acrylic paints. Any colour.

It will take a lot of time to make such a craft, the work is painstaking. But the elegance cannot be taken away from her.

From the box

And another version of the house, for the manufacture of which you will need a cardboard box. Its size will become the size of a homemade building. In addition to the box, a sharp stationery knife, glue gun, acrylic paints are useful for work.

Here's how to make a house.

  • Open the box, cut the side parts of the top cover, focusing on the diagram. The lower parts of the lid are cut off radically.
  • From the scraps, you can form the roof of the house. Its parts are attached with hot glue.
  • First you need to draw directly on the house, and then cut out the door and windows with a sharp knife.
  • The cardboard on the roof of the building should be drawn under the shingles. Cardboard trims can be made around windows and doors.
  • A hole is made in the roof, an attic window is formed.
  • You can paint the house with acrylic paints, they dry quickly. It will take 2-3 coats.
  • The final decor remains: cutting out cardboard, painted door handles, a bell, a mailbox and other details.
  • A battery-powered garland can be placed inside a large house - the included garland will create a feeling of light in the windows. If the house is made out of a small box, a few fishing fireflies will provide safe lighting inside.

Good luck and creative inspiration!
