Crafts from plastic bottle caps open up new spaces for creativity for children and adults. There are thousands of things for which the main material is food bottle caps.

How to make a hot stand?

Food bottle caps can withstand temperatures up to 100 degrees without deforming.

Unlike polyethylene terephthalate, from which the food bottles themselves are made, crumpled from boiling water, polyethylene lids can easily tolerate such heating.

They can be thrown into boiling water - they will not suffer in the least.

The hot plate is made only of the same lids. Be it beer, mineral water or Pepsi, plastic bottle caps are produced according to the same standard - almost the same size. They are placed upside down and fastened with a fishing line or nylon thread threaded through tiny holes made from the sides of the covers.

But this design is not durable and reliable. It is much better to glue them to a plastic base - for example, a CD that is unreadable due to high wear, or a plastic square. A fragment of almost any plastic is used as the latter. The size of the product determines the area of application of the stand - for a cup of coffee, a saucepan, a frying pan, a kettle or a plate.

To make the stand, you will need at least 7 covers.

Their size is such that just enough lids are needed for a cup, glass or saucer stand.

A kettle will require more than 20 lids, a saucepan or frying pan - more than 30.

If using a fabric backing, 3 pieces of fabric in different colors and textures will do. From tools - a simple pencil, scissors, thread and a needle.

The manufacturing process is as follows:

  • on scraps of matter, draw 7 circles, use a mug or glass for this;
  • cut out the circles, and sew the covers with fabric, placing each of them in the center and making wide stitches around the piece of material;
  • tighten the thread and secure the resulting "cover" with a few seams;
  • align the covers in a sequential row (sew together);
  • fold this row into a circle and secure from the back side with similar stitches.

For a kettle or frying pan, several small coasters are combined into a single whole.

Cork animals

To make an artificial snake, a plastic capsule from a Kinder Surprise chocolate egg is suitable as a head. Drill in the bottom of one of its halves using a microdrill (0.5-1 mm) or make a hole with an awl. Next, fix the fishing line or nylon thread, tying a knot at its end. In each of the plugs, a hole is made in the center, and all the caps are put on the fishing line. On the opposite side of the capsule, free from the threaded line, draw a smiley face with an alcohol marker.

What else can you make?

You can make dozens of both jewelry and useful things in everyday life from plastic bottle caps.

In addition to animals, you can also make a robot from the same caps. Fastening with a nylon thread turns the robot into a transformer. The design and dimensions of the robot make it possible to manufacture a kind of humanoid with almost unlimited functionality. Using hundreds of caps makes it possible to create multiple robots or artificial animals.

For a garden and a vegetable garden, for example, a fence is suitable, the decoration for which will serve as covers nailed in the center with nails or screwed on with self-tapping screws. Such a fence can take more than one thousand bottle caps. Autumn theme - a picture on a fence made of lids, which shows, for example, yellowed maple leaves in an enlarged size.

Palette for paints

The basis for a palette of watercolors or building colors will serve as a computer or music CD that is out of order. Along the perimeter of the disc base, in a circle, covers are glued with hot glue or Moment-1 glue, into which the paint is then poured. In the middle there is a large container for water, for example, a round yoghurt container or a lid from a 19 liter bottle. If the palette is installed on an uneven surface, you can screw three legs from bolts or studs, located at an angle of 120 degrees relative to each other.

For installation on a slippery surface, pieces of any rubber are used.

Entrance mat

A small rug with an area of up to 0.5 m2 can be of any color according to the preferences of the owner and guests. More than one hundred caps are assembled for it.

To make it more attractive, get a scheme in advance, according to which the inscription and / or drawing is laid out from the corks.

Replacing some colors with others is not critical - the main thing is that the inscription or pattern has some meaning, a reference to a certain event or phenomenon.

The lids are fastened in the same way as for making a stand for hot dishes. A fishing line is threaded through the side holes opposite to each other. Three lines run through each cover - the cork flooring has a triangular-hexagonal rather than a cruciform projection, this saves space by squeezing the maximum possible number of covers into each square meter.

The holes in the covers are spaced 60 degrees apart. By flipping the rug upside down, the sharp edges of the lids can be used to brush dirt off their outdoor shoes. The disadvantage is the need to wash it from particles of earth and sand brought from the street.

The cleaned mat can be used as a massage mat by walking on it with bare feet.

Christmas toys

For example, you can make a snowman from bottle caps. For this memento, stock up on three pairs of white caps of different sizes. One pair, for example, from a 19-liter bottle, the other from a 5-liter bottle, the third from a 1.5- or 2-liter bottle. They are fastened in pairs using hot melt glue. The connected pairs are connected using the same hot melt glue. A smiley is drawn on the top covers, the smallest in diameter.

Basket

The basket allows you to put the toys scattered around the rooms in a single place intended for them. You don't need shelves, cabinets, or racks for this. Lids and metal wire will serve as materials for the manufacture of a toy store. Consider the process of making a basket from bottle caps.

  1. Prepare a diagram according to which the toy basket is assembled. The assembly may turn out to be original - you will not find such a basket in any of the stores.
  2. Group the lids by color, after having cleaned them of foreign particles.
  3. In the center of each of the covers, make one hole with a drill, nail or awl up to 1 mm in diameter.
  4. Assemble the frame from the wire, referring to the drawing. Place the covers sequentially on each axis of the frame.

You can fix the covers with rubber gaskets or glue.

The basket is notable for good ventilation - moisture does not accumulate here, pathogens and fungi do not multiply, mold does not form. The bright color scheme of the basket will favorably complement the design of a bedroom or a children's room.

Massage Mat

If you are passionate about collecting corks from plastic bottles for the purpose of making crafts and things based on them, then you will want to decorate the bathroom with a useful household item. The covers are used to make not only a rug near the entrance to a house or apartment, but also a massage product for the bathroom. The foot massage mat does not absorb moisture, does not slip, and also serves as an excellent addition to the overall interior of the bathroom.

To assemble this accessory, you will need a silicone layer to improve the adhesion of the rubber to the smooth surface of the floor tile. Thanks to her, you will not slip. The process of making a massage bath mat is described in steps.

  1. Stick the lids on the silicone cover, positioning them as close together as possible.
  2. Fill the gaps between the lids with silicone or all-purpose glue. The original appearance of the product can be preserved in its original state.

The massage mat is resistant to abrasive and chemically active detergents.

Water easily accumulates in the gaps - the rug is dried for up to several hours.

Crafts with plasticine

In handicrafts made from bottle corks, located not on the floor, but on the walls, especially closer to the ceiling, roof, ceiling, not only glue, but also plasticine is used as a bonding agent. One such example is a flower craft. For the simplest volumetric picture, 20 corks, a plastic bottle, straws, acrylic paints, cardboard, glue and plasticine are needed. The process of making such an applique is quite simple.

  1. Color the bottle brightly. The acrylic base adheres well to plastic.
  2. Cut a hole in the center of the cardboard sheet along the diameter of the center of the bottle.
  3. Insert the bottle into the gap you made and attach it with string or wire.
  4. Secure the plastic tubes with glue. You can also use plasticine instead.
  5. Place the lids in a shape like a flower.

With the help of plasticine, additional volumetric elements are added. The resulting flowers are decorated in the form of a panel.

If there is a lack of some details on the resulting applique, draw them again.

Lamp

From plastic covers of the same color or in a certain narrow palette, individual lamps are made that cannot be found anywhere. Before assembly, each of the covers is thoroughly washed and dried to prevent water droplets from getting onto the printed micro-assembly of the luminaire.This is especially true for LED strips, filaments and panels, for the manufacture of which surface mounting is used, which is not always and not fully protected from accidental ingress of moisture. The manufacturing process of a luminaire based on plastic covers is described step by step.

  1. The optimal shape of the luminaire cover is round, square or rectangular. Use for gluing the adhesive that forms the strongest bond, such as "Moment-1" or epoxy glue.
  2. Fold up the sides of the lampshade from the bottle caps. Each plug connection must be carefully glued.
  3. Install the LED assembly so that there is at least a small gap between the light elements and the walls of the lampshade. It is not recommended to apply them tightly to the covers - the luminous flux will be more narrowly directed.

The use of a matte diffuser does not allow the luminous flux to be overly concentrated. As a result, the eyes are less tired from the issued light.
