Crafts "Sun" from leaves
Often you need to bring your work to school or kindergarten for an exhibition on the theme "Autumn". In this article we will tell you how to make an easy craft "Sun" from autumn foliage with your own hands, and what is needed for this.
Material preparation
Before you start making crafts from autumn leaves, you first need to prepare the main material.
The preparation of foliage includes first of all its collection, which can be done from spring to autumn, cleaning and drying. If desired, you can cut off the "legs" of the foliage, but this is not necessary.
Drying the leaves is also optional, as crafts can also be made from freshly harvested foliage. If you nevertheless decide to pre-dry the leaves, then you can do this in two ways.
The fastest of these is ironing. Before such drying, the material must be carefully wiped with wet wipes to eliminate possible dirt and dust.
Please note that the napkin with which you wipe the leaves should not be too wet.
It is also not necessary to be too zealous when wiping, as this can harm the surface of the foliage.
After cleaning, spread A4 sheets of paper or old newspapers on the ironing board. The first option is preferable, since newspaper ink can easily be imprinted on foliage and on the board itself.
After that, lay out the foliage, cover it with another layer of paper. Now turn on the iron to the lowest temperature. If the device does not have a high power, then in this case the average temperature is also suitable. You cannot put the iron on the maximum temperature, as this will only spoil the foliage.
When the iron warms up properly, iron the foliage with it, then turn it over to the other side, remembering to cover it with paper, and iron it again. Repeat your steps until the leaves are completely dry. Ready! It remains only to carefully remove the foliage where it cannot be damaged.
The second method for drying foliage is standard, but rather time-consuming. Leaves need to be wiped off dust and dirt, and then put them between the pages of an old book. Further, it remains only to wait for the complete drying of the foliage.
Crafting ideas
It is not difficult to make an applique from autumn foliage. Let's figure out how you can make the "Sun" craft from this material. Even a preschool child can cope with such work without parental help.
You will need cardboard, colored paper, leaves, a glue brush and PVA glue, felt-tip pens.
The workflow is pretty straightforward. With the help of a compass, you need to draw a circle - this will be the face of the sun. We draw eyes, a nose and a smile on it. If you wish, you can simplify your task by printing and cutting out the already finished face in the form of a smiling emoticon.
We outline a circle on the cardboard, after which we spread the foliage around it, thus forming the rays of the sun. Please note that foliage should be close to each other so that there are no gaps - this will make the craft look more beautiful. We glue the leaves, carefully coating them with glue.
Glue the face in the middle. The craft is ready!
There is another way to make sun-shaped crafts from autumn foliage. The materials required are the same as for the previous application.
We arrange the leaves on the cardboard so that it turns out to be the sun, and then glue it. Please note that the base for the sun should be large so that you can place more eyes, nose and mouth on it. They can be made from colored paper.
If you wish, you can use plastic eyes that can be purchased at the store - this will make the craft look more interesting.
We make handles and legs for the sun from small leaves and cuttings. It may be difficult for the child to work with cuttings. In this case, instead of them, you can use an ordinary felt-tip pen or paints, that is, simply draw the arms and legs. The warm sun is ready!
If you wish, you can make a whole composition with the participation of the sun, using all the same materials. To do this, you just need to supplement the applique with other elements, for example, an autumn tree, a bird or a hedgehog.
Useful Tips
If you are working with dried foliage, then you need to act as carefully as possible, since such leaves are rather fragile and easily crumble in your hands, which can ruin the craft.
You can use a glue gun and hot glue to help the leaves stick to the cardboard and not fall off. However, in this case, the child will definitely need help from the parents, since if used improperly, the device can easily be broken.
To make the craft look more interesting, do not limit yourself to foliage alone. You can complement your applique with elements from other materials, for example, from colored paper.
In addition, you can safely use paints or felt-tip pens to make the applique look brighter and more beautiful.
