Crafts "Firebird" from leaves
Dried leaves are one of the most interesting natural materials. You can create a variety of crafts from them, ranging from simple applications to complex panels. How to make the application "Firebird" from dry leaves will be discussed in our article.
Preparation
The variety of shapes and colors of autumn foliage stimulates the creation of many interesting crafts, compositions, applications. But in order to implement such an idea, it is necessary to take care of the collection of ornamental material in time.
They begin to collect it in the spring, when multi-colored leaves and bright flowers appear. Summer also gives a lot of objects, having collected and correctly preserved, in the future it can be used for creativity. However, the best time to harvest and dry the leaves is in autumn. She paints trees and bushes with incredible colors.
Before harvesting natural material, you should familiarize yourself with certain rules and follow them:
- ornamental material is collected only during dry weather;
- leaves of various shades, sizes and varieties are harvested;
- when assembling, pay attention to their appearance: they must be clean, even and not damaged.
Fallen leaves collected in autumn are usually golden in color. Providing stocks of natural material of green, burgundy and other shades will allow harvesting them before the beginning of leaf fall. To prevent such leaves from changing color during drying, the following requirements must be adhered to.
- The most popular is the traditional drying method, which consists of spreading the leaves between the pages of thick books. In this case, the collected material will dry for a rather long time. At the same time, the process itself is extremely simple, while it does not take time and effort.
- The accelerated method is used when the leaves are urgently needed. Its essence lies in the drying of raw materials using an iron. The collected or plucked leaves are laid between paper sheets and ironed until completely dry. They become absolutely even and do not change color.
The disadvantage of the described options is that the leaves become brittle after drying. To maintain their elasticity, natural material must be soaked in glycerin for a couple of days, and then ironed with an iron.
It will be useful to know that the elasticity of the leaves will also be given by ironing them between sheets of parchment paper, which is previously rubbed with paraffin.
