If you want to keep your child busy for some period of time with a useful and exciting activity, give him a set of colored plasticine and come up with an image with him that you want to embody. Modeling from plasticine helps to develop fine motor skills of hands, think abstractly and in a playful way introduces the surrounding nature and its representatives.
The images that are used as inspiration are very diverse - the surrounding objects, animals and plants, favorite characters from books and cartoons, various fictional creatures. One of the most favorite options is modeling different monsters from plasticine. These creatures can be of a wide variety of shapes and colors, which is very good, as it allows the kid to independently come up with what his monster will look like, and even come up with a story about him.

Tools and materials
Modeling from plasticine brings up in children various qualities that a child will need when working with him, for example, attentiveness, accuracy, perseverance and many others. In order for the kid to get used to order, it is necessary to provide him with a limited work space - a modeling board. This device will save parents from cleaning tables and other surfaces from the remains of plasticine. Modern plasticine sets are produced with a different number of colors (from 4 or more). Naturally, the larger the choice of colors, the more interesting it is for children.
A plastic knife and stacks will help you cut off the necessary piece of soft plasticine, shape it, draw details. With the help of a pencil, you can design a figure in different ways, put all kinds of points, draw patterns. And also a pencil can be used as a rolling pin for rolling plasticine.A paper clip, a toothpick act as connecting parts between different elements of the figurine.
Various natural materials (for example, cones, acorns, chestnuts, leaves), artificial details (beads, rhinestones and much more) are used as additional decorative elements.

Modeling options
A plasticine monster can have a very different look, it all depends on the author's imagination. It can be scary and spiteful, or, conversely, a funny and harmless monster. Children's figurines of monsters always look very cool and original, the main thing is to give the child freedom of action.
We offer step-by-step instructions for children on how to create one of the countless variants of the monster. In it, we describe step by step all the necessary actions that will help the kids, on their own or together with their parents, to make a cool monster figure.

The workflow includes a number of steps. We take pieces of different colors of plasticine that have remained from past crafts, and combine them into a homogeneous mass. And also you can take any color you like. From the resulting mass, tear off two pieces of the same size. We sculpt the torso and head from them, as shown in the figure. Using a toothpick, we attach the parts to each other.
We form the ears, in shape they should be similar to the fin of a shark. We sculpt them on the head of our monster. We take a small piece of plasticine of the same color as the body, and give it the shape of a flat cake - the jaw of the creature. On the edge we sculpt teeth from small pieces of white plasticine - two canines and several oval-shaped teeth. We glue them to the jaw.

Attach the jaw to the monster's head so that the teeth are pointing up. Two small cakes made from the main shade of plasticine will serve as eye blanks. We stick them on the head and make two round indentations in them. We form two white balls from white plasticine and insert them into the pits under the eyes. In the center of the resulting eyes, we sculpt two points from black plasticine.

We stick two small nostrils on the face, and use a pencil to make two holes in them. We form the front legs. To do this, we make two sausages and attach them to the sides of the body. Draw the fingers in a stack.
For the hind legs, we form a pair of balls and flat cakes. We fix them on the body of the monster, as shown in the picture. Do not forget to draw our monster toes on its hind legs.

Our creature will even have a tail, which we make from an elongated sausage, making it thinner towards the tip. We sculpt many small balls of blue plasticine and attach them over the entire surface of our monster, pressing a little from above with the non-sharp side of the pencil. Draw the ears along the entire contour using a stack.
The final touch is the sculpting of claws from black plasticine. They should be small teardrop shaped sausages that can be formed using a stack. We stick them to the toes on the hind and front legs, after making a small depression in them. Our monster figurine is ready!

Useful Tips
- Store plasticine in a closed box, as it can cling to various debris or animal hair, which is almost impossible to get rid of.
- For unusual colors and textures, you can mix two or three colors of plasticine.
- If you want to make the craft more original, use additional elements when creating. It can be both natural, for example, cones, chestnuts, and artificial materials, such as beads, rhinestones and others.
- Before sculpting, knead the clay well with your hands so that it becomes soft and elastic.
- As the main color, you can use the tone obtained from the remnants of plasticine of different shades combined into one mass. The color always turns out to be very interesting and unusual.
- If the monster has fingers, do not forget to draw them with a knife or a stack; for showiness, you can make claws.
For structural strength, use a toothpick or match as a connecting piece.
