How to mold a knight from plasticine?
It can be very interesting for lovers of crafts to know how to mold an ordinary knight from plasticine step by step. It is also worth figuring out how to blind a French knight in stages for children. Still need to take into account some of the recommendations of experts.
Classic version
The romantic image of the knights is not very consistent with reality, and they were mostly robbers in spirit, but this is not particularly important when sculpting. The traditional figurine of an equestrian warrior of the Middle Ages is created using plasticine:
- yellow;
- dark gray;
- brown colors.
Additionally, you will need a familiar to all stack sculptors. You also need a small stick or tube. The step-by-step process goes like this. They warm up the plasticine mass (not necessarily in the hands, this can be done on the radiator). Roll up the torso.
Elements for the legs of the future knight are being prepared. Forms patterns and simulates a flat sole on which the figurine can stand. Collect the body and legs into a single whole. Hands are made up of several parts (they must be immediately put in place).
They make a ball and a pancake from plasticine. Having connected them, they draw lines on the pancake so that it more closely matches the image of the helmet. The figure is finally assembled, complementing the helmet with a symbolic feather and giving the knight a spear (by the way, it was with spears that they mostly fought).
How to make a French knight?
But the general stylized figures from plasticine suit mainly small children. Later, when sculpting experience is gained and knowledge about the surrounding world and about history in particular expands, there is a desire to make a more specific character. And if the French knight of the heyday of this class is taken as a basis, then one cannot do with plasticine.Before you blind it step by step, it is important to prepare a wire frame in the form of a man. Pieces of material are gradually molded onto this frame.
Legs are formed first. Next comes the turn of the torso. When ready, the lower body of the formidable warrior can be shaped. The figure is detailed on both sides, carefully aligning the sides: it will come out very ugly if at least small gaps remain in them.
Handles should be sculpted not from brown, but from blue plasticine.
But then they will be covered with the same dark layer as the main body part. An exception is made only for a small part of the hands. With the help of a stack, a depression is formed in the neck plate. Further:
- finalizing arms and legs;
- put a flesh-colored head;
- surround the head with a helmet of a darker color;
- form an armored collar;
- finalizing the helmet to match the historical prototype;
- preparing a blue cuirass and a shield with appropriate symbols;
- give the armor the required relief;
- prepare a two-layer brown-yellow stand (all this will not always work out the first time, sometimes numerous alterations will be required);
- give the knight a banner on the staff in his hand.

Useful Tips
It makes no sense to pay special attention to clothing or the elaboration of parts of the knightly body. All the same, the figure should be chained in armor, because lovers of modeling can simplify their lives. If there are no special personal wishes or the desire to reproduce a specific prototype, it is enough to mark the armor in gray. If there is no desire to mess with the wire, then the legs and arms can be collected on toothpicks: it will turn out almost as tightly.
An empty ballpoint pen refill will help smooth surfaces. If possible, you should buy plasticine only from well-known, proven manufacturers, which has a known safe composition. In some cases, it is more correct to change the order of work and form the figure from top to bottom.
And one more nuance: when sculpting, it is necessary to carefully check the stability of the knight, to maintain a balance so that not a single part outweighs and everything stands exactly.
