Any creativity requires special equipment. Getting started with plasticine, it is worth preparing the necessary materials and tools, as well as using the accompanying and improvised means. Plasticine is the main material for creating crafts. There are many varieties of it. It can be soft and have an "M" index or hard, with a "T" index, have differences in the number of shades.

Types of plasticine:

  • classic version;
  • light or hardened;
  • ball, consisting of small foam balls connected with glue;
  • floating, not sinking in water;
  • professional - sculptural plasticine.

In addition, the following devices are usually included in the list of necessary things.

  • A modeling board. Having this item will help keep your workplace clean. On its hard and even surface, you can roll out smooth flagella, balls and pancakes from plasticine, as well as cut out the necessary figures with a plastic knife. Most often, the board is made of plastic, but there are also wooden products.
  • Rolling pin. Using a rolling pin, plasticine is rolled out, giving it flat, even shapes. If you wrap this tool with embossed oilcloth, fishing line or cloth, then the surfaces of the parts can be given the necessary texture.
  • Knives. They can be either plastic or metal. It is advisable to have tools of different sizes. Older children are allowed to use a sharp utility knife. These creative items should not be used in the kitchen.
  • Stacks. With their help, plasticine parts are given a certain shape, relief or cut out recesses of the required configuration. It is desirable to have a whole set of such tools.
  • Plastic rulers. In addition to the main function, they will help roll up smooth filaments, cylinders, and cones.
  • Scissors. Regular scissors are required, as well as curved cutting surfaces. This tool is used to cut out individual parts from a solidified, thinly rolled piece of mass, to give the details a certain texture or to create curly edges on a cut.
  • Patterns for cutting flat figures. Their presence will allow you to quickly get the required number of exactly the same parts. You can buy such products in any children's stores.
  • Mold. They are used to obtain the required number of standard embossed products.

In addition to the named specialized tools, you will also need accompanying material in the form of empty jars, syringes without a needle, and caps from felt-tip pens. All kinds of pieces of fabric with lace will come in handy, with which you can get beautiful prints. Often all kinds of buttons, toothpicks, beads, bright pebbles become necessary.

In addition, it is necessary to have a special small bucket and rags to tidy up the workplace.

Modeling options

It is not difficult even for children to mold a miniature of a Soviet soldier from plasticine with their own hands. For work you will need the following materials:

  • a multi-colored set of ordinary plasticine;
  • matches or toothpicks;
  • a set of tools for working with plasticine;
  • drawing of a soldier wearing a uniform from the times of the Great Patriotic War.

Work begins with the manufacture of a future soldier's tunic. It is necessary to choose the appropriate colors for the shape so that the plasticine figurine looks authentic. The gymnastic is khaki, so green and brown pieces of mass are used to obtain this tone. They need to be kneaded and mixed. The resulting blank is divided into parts and used to form the individual elements of the figurine.

To make a figure of a soldier in uniform step by step, you need to do the following. Make a torso from the blanks. It is important that the product has the correct proportions. The figure in the shoulders should be wide, then it is necessary to make it thin at the waist, and then expand it downward.

The design of the shirt is completed by gluing a green vertical placket for buttons and pocket flaps. Top of the shirt is complemented with a collar. A belt made of a flat thin ribbon of brown color is attached to the belt. Buttons and badges are made from small yellow balls. The buttonholes on the collar and shoulder straps will be pink.

Having completed the work with the torso, they begin to form the sleeves of the gymnast. They are made in the form of rollers, gluing the upper part to the shoulders. From below, hands are attached, molded from pink plasticine. The next step is sculpting the legs, dressed in breeches. Their color depends on the type of troops and can be green or blue.

To mold them, take two identical pieces, knead and roll into thick short sausages. On each of them, on one side, make "ears" breeches, pinning them with your fingers. Boots are made of black mass.

The head is molded from pink plasticine. The mass is rolled into an oval, the ears are glued on the sides, the nose is in front. Eyes are made of white balls with black pupils, eyebrows are made of black plasticine above them. The mouth is made scarlet. A green cap with a red star is put on the head.

Using matches or toothpicks, fix all the details. At the final stage, using a stack, the desired relief is applied to the figure, stars are squeezed out on the buttons and badge. In order to make such figures, it is important to follow all the steps step by step.

Useful Tips

Modeling from plasticine is a very useful activity, it is available to children from the age of 2-3. When working with this material, it is important to listen to helpful advice.

  • Plasticine for working with babies should not contain toxic substances and leave marks on the child's clothes.
  • To soften the mass faster, it is placed in a glass jar, which is immersed in hot water. Place in the refrigerator to harden.
  • It is better to use paper clips and toothpicks to hold the individual parts together.
  • Creating more complex compositions, a wire frame is used. It will make the products durable and will convey the dynamics of movement.
  • The sculpting process should be accompanied by an interesting story about the characters being created.

When working with plasticine, it should be remembered that it goes well with natural materials: cones, plant seeds, acorns.
