Making spoons out of polymer clay

Polymer clay can be used not only to create original figurines or unique decorations. Various household items are often made from it, including beautiful spoons.

Anyone can learn how to make original cutlery from clay. The main thing is to stock up on all the necessary materials and tools.

• Polymer clay. You can buy good clay at many craft stores. It is worth choosing products from trusted manufacturers. Products from companies such as Skulpey and Fimo enjoy a good reputation among needlewomen. You can find many different colors of clay in stores. Beginners should buy products in basic shades. Different colors of polymer clay mix well with each other.

• Wooden toothpicks. To decorate products, you can use toothpicks, needles, or even wooden sushi sticks.

• Stacks. These tools come in handy for slicing the clay into pieces and for adjusting the shape of the figurines.

• Rolling pins. To roll out polymer clay, you can use both professional rolling pins and glass bottles. If the house has a pasta machine, it will be even easier to roll the material.

• Gloves. It is recommended to wear white gloves before handling polymer clay. In this case, different colors will not mix with each other. In addition, there will be no fingerprints on the crafts.

• Silicone molds or molds. They are needed to create volumetric decorative details. When working with regular cooking tins, cling film is also useful. They are wrapped with it before filling containers with multi-colored clay.

Various decorative little things, for example, beads, sparkles or rhinestones, will also come in handy.

A great craft option for beginners is spoons with a simple polymer clay decor. They can be made as a gift for both a man or a woman, and a small child. The process of decorating such cutlery looks very simple.

1. To begin with, the clay of the selected color is rolled out, forming a thin layer.
2. A workpiece of a suitable size is cut from this material. It is wrapped around the handle of a spoon. All edges are gently smoothed with your fingers.
3. Further, they begin to make decor from colored clay. To do this, circles, commas and other figures are cut out of the parts rolled out in a thin layer. To create small dots, pinch off small pieces from the clay. They are kneaded and turned into neat balls.
4. The prepared decor is attached to the base of the spoon.
5. To decorate spoons in this way, clay is usually used, which hardens in air. Therefore, there is no need to bake it.

Decorated with various figurines, spoons are useful for various themed parties and home gatherings. One of the simplest options for such a craft is a spoon decorated with figures of cute little people. To create it, polymer clay of white, red and beige colors is used.

1. First you need to knead a mass of beige or light brown well. If a suitable shade is not at hand, you can get one by mixing white and brown clay.
2. Having rolled out the prepared material in a thin layer, two identical blanks must be cut out of it.
3. One of them needs to be decorated with dots and thin stripes of white and red colors.
4. Next, the two workpieces are connected together. At the bottom of the craft, you need to leave a small "pocket". In the future, the upper part of the spoon will be placed in it.
5. The prepared figurine must be baked, following the instructions on the clay package.

The decorative figurine can be easily attached to the base of the spoon. It is advisable to cover it with a layer of transparent varnish on top. After such processing, the thing must be dried.

Dessert spoons or teaspoons can be complemented with an unusual "sweet" decoration in the French style. It is done very simply.

1. First you need to choose four colors of clay. One of them must be white.
2. After kneading a piece of material of the same color, you need to roll it out. The clay layer must be laid on a paper square and covered with transparent film.
3. Using a special round mold, two identical circles must be squeezed out of this mass.
4. The film must be removed from the clay. Using a toothpick or a sharp needle, the edges of each part must be gently "loosened".
5. Using the same principle, create four more halves of two-color clay cookies.
6. White clay is used to make a filling for a French dessert. For this, polymer clay is also rolled out in a thin layer and small circles are cut out of it.
7. Having prepared all the necessary materials, they begin to form cookies from them. For this, a light filling is placed between two identical halves. The details are neatly pressed against each other.
8. A small hole is made in the middle of each figure. The cookies should slide loosely over the handle of the spoon.
9. The prepared figurines are baked in the oven and then cooled.
10. The finished cookies are attached to the base of the spoon with good glue.

In this case, it is turned over and fixed on the base of the spoon in an upright position. Spoons with such a tip look original and cute.

Another craft option for beginners is a cake decorating spoon. Such a figurine is made according to the same principle as macaroons. To begin with, seven pieces of material of different colors are rolled out in a thin layer. The same is done with a large white blank. Then, using a special mold, identical circles are cut out of the prepared layers. All parts are connected to each other, alternating between white and colored figures.

Decorate the finished craft at your own discretion. Usually it is decorated with white clay and colored beads. A small piece is cut from the base of the cake, and a hole is made in the lower part of it. After baking, the craft is attached to the spoon with high-quality glue.
