Empty glass bottles can be found in every home. Sometimes they have an original shape, although more often the appearance is not distinguished by a feature. But with a skillful approach from a simple bottle, any housewife can create, if not a work of art, then a unique craft that will decorate the house or be suitable as a present for friends or relatives.

Styles

There are as many options for decorating bottles as the needlewoman has enough imagination. It is better if the design is in the same style with the interior of the house, in order to add zest to it.

Bottles of different sizes look original, decorated in nautical style... Decorated with seashells, as if they have lain on the bottom of the sea for several centuries, the bottles will organically fit into the interior of a room decorated in a Mediterranean style. And cheerful and bright vests, made of cord or applied with paint, will remind you of a wonderful holiday on the seashore. Especially if you add a lifebuoy, steering wheel or anchors to the vests.

In addition to the bottles, you can decorate a couple of glasses in a similar style - and a set for two is ready, which can be presented, for example, to newlyweds.

Delicate luxury combined with natural simplicity and all shades of turquoise - unique feature of the Tiffany style... The use of satin ribbons, lace or paint will help to recreate it when decorating a bottle. With a certain skill in this style, you can decorate the bottles along with the contents and, adding glasses decorated in the same way, put them on the festive table or give them as a gift.

Gold, gems, vibrant colors and characteristic patterns are a feature of the east.... It is interesting to look pot-bellied with long thin necks or tall, similar to amphorae, with small round handles, bottles with a pattern applied to them in an oriental style. For this, spot painting is used, made with paints or rhinestones. Imitation of aged embossing on glass - and another highlight for home decoration is ready. Well, the monista and bracelets are something that no oriental woman can do without.

As opposed to eastern brightness shabby chic style characterized by pastel colors and refined luxury. Decorated in this way, bottles and jars are suitable for decorating a bedroom in retro stylesuitable for a young beauty. Delicate lace, nylon and satin ribbons, decoupage, painting - any of the methods is suitable for decorating a glass container in the shabby chic style.

Coarse natural materials are aboutfeatures of the rustic style. Bottles decorated in this style will find a place in a country house or in a men's den. Most often, rustic glass containers are decorated with jute or burlap. The rope can be used to wrap the bottle partially or completely. Or you can make a braided mesh from jute. Burlap is also used. These are the most common options. You can use tree bark, straw or some other gifts of nature, for which there is enough invention.

You can list the styles endlessly, but each hostess knows best which design option suits her home best.

Decoration with napkins

One of the options for decorating glassware is use of napkins. In this case, napkins can be both textile and paper.

You can make a beautiful removable decoration from textile napkins, which is especially convenient if you need to arrange a gift in a short time. In order to beautifully decorate the bottle, you need to take a large napkin (preferably one-color) and a ribbon of a contrasting color or twine for tying. Place the bottle in the center of the napkin and wrap it in neat folds. With the help of a strap, a napkin is fixed - and the gift is ready. You can add decorations to the ribbon in the form of a bow, a flower, or some other trinket of your choice.

An interesting decoration option is obtained using decoupage napkins and twine.

  • Degrease glass containers.
  • Cover with nylon tights, fabric or burlap, coated with glue.
  • Allow to dry.
  • Paint with white acrylic and dry.
  • Cut a picture out of a napkin and, having separated one layer, attach to the bottle.
  • Immediately cover the image with acrylic varnish.
  • When the varnish dries, apply acrylic paint of the desired shade around the picture, going to its edges.
  • When the previous layer of paint has dried, finish painting with the selected color.
  • Once dry, apply the final touch by adding decor. This can be a jute rope tied with a bow at the neck, or twine wrapping at the top and bottom of the pattern.

Ribbon decoration

One of the safest ways to decorate the contents of the bottle is decoration with ribbons. Bottles decorated in this way can be presented for a wedding, anniversary or just for the soul.

The simplest objects are used for decoration:

  • tapes;
  • braid, lace, scraps of fabric;
  • scissors;
  • glue gun or Moment glue;
  • beads, rhinestones, artificial flowers, or other items suitable for decoration.

Prepare the bottle for work by removing contaminants, if any, and degreasing. You can leave the label on. Next, by trying on, cut the prepared tape.

The easiest way to decorate is to stick the tape on the bottle in layers. Work begins from the neck, gluing the tape so that a toe is formed. Layers are formed with a corner to the wide part.

Then the tape on the bottle is placed parallel to the surface of the table, gluing so that the joint is on the corner of the toe. Layers are applied to the very bottom of the dish.

Then decorate the seam by gluing a piece of braid or tape over the seam. Finish off by adding extra embellishments. It can be rhinestones, bows, ruffles along the seam or around the bottle - everything that the author's imagination is enough for.

In the same way, bottles are decorated using the kanzashi technique, creating floral arrangements from ribbons. Kanzashi came to us from Japan, where it was used to create head adornments in the form of flowers, petals and various combinations of them.

Another gift from Japan is the shibori technique. This is when the ribbons are crumpled, tied in a knot, and the resulting lump is dyed, getting a unique form of stains and color spots. Next, the colored tape is glued to the surface to be decorated, but without smoothing it, but creating a relief texture. When using this technique, in order to give the product a finished look, additional decoration is necessary with the help of chains, bugles, cabochons and other similar accessories.

What else can you use for decoration?

There are a great many options for what can be used to decorate a bottle, limited only by the imagination of the creator. If necessary, you can come up with a decoration option for each occasion separately. For example, if a gift is being prepared for a man, then a shabby chic jewelry with its lace and delicate colors will not work. In this case, it is better to use rougher options, such as jute, burlap, imitation embossing, shells, and the like.

The containers look very original, decorated loft style... To do this, glass containers are pasted over with old yellowed newspapers, images of retro cars and other wheeled vehicles are added. The final touch is wrapped around the craft with twine - and the gift for the man is ready.

Another design option is in steampunk style. This is when the bottle is decorated in imitation of metal. The finished product looks completely encased in a metal casing, consisting of small sheets of iron riveted together. Various gears, washers, nuts are used as additional decorative elements.

As a gift for February 23, for the day of the Airborne Forces and other men's military holidays, you can give a bottle, dressed in a semblance of an army uniform corresponding to the army or rank.

Products decorated with leather, suitable for both men and women. The main thing is to come up with and implement the idea correctly.

The use of eggshells allows you to create a relief texture, which is convenient to use when obtaining an aging effect. The design method is very simple.

  • Remove the eggshell from the inner film, rinse well and dry.
  • Apply glue to the degreased glass and stick the shell pieces.
  • Wait for the glue to set. It will take about 20 minutes.
  • Apply the paint of the selected shade with a sponge.
  • Paint over the seams with a thin brush or leave unpainted.
  • If drawing is supposed to be drawn, then think over its idea in advance by drawing a sketch on paper. Then transfer it to the surface to be treated.
  • Finish decorating with finishing touches as intended.

The same mosaic method can be used for pasting with mirror fragments, pieces of colored glass and other similar materials, forming a pattern along the way. A bottle of wine decorated in a kanzashi style is perfect as a birthday present for a woman. The abundance of flowers will create a festive mood, and their unfading beauty will allow the gift to delight its owner for a long time.

Making a wine container with a grapevine is a classic of the genre. It can be drawn or made three-dimensional using various decoupage techniques.

In addition to surface decoration of dishes, there are interesting options for decorative filling of glass containers. It can be colored salt, cereals, flowers, vegetables or fruits.

The easiest way to fill is with salt or cereals, stacked in layers.Even a small child can handle the job. Get your little ones to work together. This will not only allow you to spend time with benefit, but also bring the family closer together.

To understand how to do this, the process will be scheduled step by step.

  1. Clean a transparent bottle of plain glass from labels, glue beads, wash from the inside.
  2. Dry well.
  3. Prepare coarse salt in advance, painting it in the desired colors. This can be done with paint or chalk. Divide the seasoning into parts, each of which is painted with gouache or acrylic in the selected colors. Dry the salt naturally or in the oven. If painted with colored chalk, then rub each pile with it until a uniform color is obtained.
  4. Pour the prepared salt with a sheet into a container, creating layers to the very top.
  5. Seal the bottle with a lid and decorate the top by tying a jute bow on the neck.

Filling with cereals is carried out according to the same principle. The main thing is that the cereals and the inside of the bottle are well dried. It is much more difficult to carry out decorative preservation. But the result will be worth the effort.

  • Selected prepared vegetables, fruits or spices are placed in a cleaned and sterilized bottle, forming layers or a pattern.
  • Pour the prepared containers with vinegar essence, strong saline solution, formalin or alcohol.
  • Close the filled bottles with a lid and fill with wax.

Important: When working with preservatives, use protective equipment such as gloves, a rubber apron and a respirator. Fill with a funnel.

If you use flowers for filling, then you need to fill them with glycerin. The flooded flower is placed in a dark, cool place for a couple of weeks. Then they can be used to decorate the room.

If old coins have survived in the house, then they can also be used for decoration: create an image of an open wallet or depict a money tree. The bottle is degreased, pasted over with a cloth or painted and decorated with coins. It turns out an unusual decoration for the home.

To create a unique interior craft, suitable thread for embroidery or knitting... You can use the same wrapping technique as for twine. The only difference is that use only transparent glue and carefully monitor its application so that it does not seep out and spoil the appearance of the threads. Or you can knit a removable decor in the form of a mesh or a suit.

Do not immediately throw out the pantyhose that the arrow went along. They can be used as a basis for decoupage. Pull the stocking over the glue bottle, wrinkling or smoothing it over the surface. Then apply paint, dry and decorate in the chosen style. In addition to the techniques already listed, you can use other options.

The festive table will be decorated with a bottle sprinkled with sparkles. For this, the glass is degreased, covered with glue and sprinkled with sparkles so that they evenly lay on the surface. Glitter can be applied all over the bottle, or you can form a pattern on the painted surface.

Using fabric, you can create an embossed decoration, forming folds at the time of gluing that imitate clothes. For this, a whole piece of fabric is used. This style requires additional decoration with various fittings. Another option for decorating with fabric is a sewn bag or suit.

Candies

Two in one - this is how you can describe the design of a bottle with the help of sweets. The most common decor option is imitation of a pineapple. To do this, use round chocolates in yellow foil on a brown backing, green paper and a strapping ribbon.

The candies are glued around the bottle with a glue gun, forming a pineapple fruit. Leaves are cut out of paper and placed around the neck, securing with glue and tape.

Paper

The easiest way to decorate a bottle is with wrapping paper. Carefully wrap the container with paper and secure with tape. Tie with twine, slipping a flower or a card with congratulations under it.
