For the manufacture of handicrafts for the autumn theme, you can use both natural materials and their successful imitation. In this case, you can count on the fact that the craft will not lose its presentable appearance in a couple of days. For example, a clock, a common craft idea for contests and exhibitions in school and kindergarten, can be made from twigs, cones, and acorns, or plastic or paper maple leaves.

Made from maple leaves

To prevent a natural maple leaf from drying out and turning into dust, it must be "laminated", for this they usually use wax or glycerin.

The procedures are neither the easiest nor the fastest. But the handicraft, it happens, needs to be carried tomorrow, and for everything about everything - one evening. Then artificial maple leaves from the autumn garland come to the rescue, which in the season are easy to find in stores of the same price. They are cheap, they look cute in the craft.

To make a watch, you will need: thick cardboard (for example, from a shoe box), colored ordinary cardboard, glue and a glue gun, compasses, scissors, a pencil, decorative plastic leaves, plastic pumpkins, knitting threads and felt-tip pens.

The step-by-step plan consists of several points.

  1. Cut a large circle out of thick cardboard. This is where the compasses come in handy. If it is not there, you need to circle the large plate with a pencil.
  2. The second circle is cut out of thin cardboard, in this case, yellow. The yellow piece is glued onto a thick circle, right in the middle.
  3. Around the small circle, knitting threads are laid evenly, without distances. In this MK, they are quite thick, orange. The colors can be chosen at your discretion, but the traditional autumn gamut is preferable.The place of laying is preliminarily greased with glue. The threads must be well pressed against the base.
  4. The base is ready for decoration. Now is the time for artificial leaves. They are laid out arbitrarily, you can do exactly as in the photo, you can come up with your own layout scheme. Small plastic pumpkins and, for example, decorative birds (if any) are added there. Too crowded and too much - not this case, everything should be in moderation so that the gaps between the decorative elements are sufficient.
  5. Arrows should be cut out of cardboard of a dark shade.
  6. With a pencil (using the same compasses), another one is drawn inside the yellow circle. The names of the autumn months are beautifully written in a circle with felt-tip pens. You can also print the titles.
  7. The arrows are fixed in the center either with a needle (sew on) or on a wire. A glue gun can also help with fastening. It is important that the arrows are functional, that is, so that they can be moved.
  8. A hanging loop is attached to the back of the watch.

The clock is ready. They are special in that they show not the time, but the autumn month. And the children themselves can see if the arrows are lagging behind.

You can add author's notes to the decor of the craft: use acorns, spikelets of wheat, moss, nutshells and more.

How to make from branches?

Branches are often used to implement the theme of autumn in art. Unlike leaves, they remain in good shape for a long time, do not break, do not dry out, do not rot. And for watch decoration, they can be an excellent decorative element.

There are two main ways of making such clocks: the first involves the use of thick branches, which is why they often say they are made of wood, the second method involves the use of thin branches.

Let's figure out how to make a clock from small branch cuts.

  1. It is necessary to prepare materials and tools: a piece of thick cardboard, a mechanism from a real clock with arrows, rather thick branches (the diameter may differ slightly), glue for wood, sandpaper and a hacksaw for metal. Of course, this work will be done almost entirely by the parents.
  2. A circle is cut out of cardboard, the diameter of which is slightly larger than the length of the main arrow. A hole is made in the center in any convenient way, where the clock mechanism will be inserted.
  3. Pieces must be carefully sawed off from the branches, the sawn-off parts should be thin so that the arrows do not perceive them as an obstacle. It is for this reason that a hacksaw is required for metal.
  4. Wooden circular saw cuts are glued to a cardboard circle. Then the rounds will have to be cleaned with sandpaper so that they are perfectly even. You can also cover them with a stain, if you want. Or take varnish on wood instead of wood stain. Cardboard, by the way, can also be pre-painted, but this is at the discretion of the author.
  5. The mechanism is inserted behind the cardboard base, it is fixed with a nut, the arrows are put on. The battery is also inserted at this point. The clock is already running, it remains to attach a loop for hanging.

Such a forest clock is functional, although the dial in this model is not always provided.

And here is how watches are made from thin branches.

  1. You need to prepare cardboard for the base, the twigs themselves, chestnuts / cones / acorns / nuts, samples from the herbarium, universal glue, scissors.
  2. A base circle is cut out of cardboard. This is how the main part of the MK begins.
  3. It's time to standardize the branches, that is, prune them so that they are equal in length.
  4. The branches are glued in a circle, the points of the beginning of gluing for all branches should be taking into account the formation of the circle. That is, the glued branches form a new circle on the cardboard. But their ends should extend beyond the base at least half.
  5. The central part can be sealed with autumn leaves, previously dried, or better - boiled in glycerin.
  6. It is convenient to make numbers from acorn caps, or rather, places where numbers are usually fixed.
  7. Arrows can be made from durable, dense dried flowers.
  8. Between the branches, here and there, another decor is attached: herbarium plants, cones, nutshells.

It only remains to come up with a loop on the back of the cardboard base - and the watch is ready. The craft can be modernized - paint the branches (especially if you use a gradient, that is, color transitions), laminate the leaves as if it were paper and attach to a cardboard base, use orange, yellow, burgundy braid or satin ribbon.

DIY thread clock

Awesome watch can be constructed using knitting threads or jute twine.

In this example, jute was taken, but there may be a suitable yarn in its place.

Tools and materials

The base will be a flat plastic dish, this time cardboard will not work, it is not so strong.

You also need to prepare:

  • jute twine or knitting threads, dense and beautiful;
  • different decor - there are flowers here, but in the case of an autumn craft, these can be small stickers on an autumn theme, volumetric stickers, the same acorns and nutshells;
  • beads;
  • hot glue and PVA;
  • lace;
  • clockwork;
  • thin wire.

The watch will be real, which means that after it is painted at a school exhibition or competition in the garden, you can take it home. They look especially appropriate in the kitchen.

Step-by-step instruction

Work begins with an operation on a plastic dish. In its center, you need to make a hole and glue jute twine onto the glue, moving in a spiral. It should cover the entire face of the watch, as well as the welt. When gluing the threads, you need to press them with your hands so that they lie flat, and there are no waves anywhere on the plane of the clock.

Here's what to do next.

  1. It's time to decorate the dial. Along the perimeter, you can glue multi-colored braid or threads that are brighter than the main neutral color. In this case, the inner circle is edged with purple thread, and the welted part - with a bright decorative cord. Hot glue will help hold the whole thing securely.
  2. Flowers and ready-made decorative elements are attached along the perimeter of the clock. Instead, there can be acorn caps or imitation rowan berries.
  3. You need to insert a wire into the lace, bite off the excess, and then bend 4 main numbers from the resulting element.
  4. The numbers are glued to the dial, and there will be white beads above them. The beads are attached in the places where the rest of the numbers should be located.
  5. A clock mechanism is fixed on hot glue, which is inserted from the back (into a hole made in advance). By the way, it makes sense to make spacers on the back of the watch, which will prevent the mechanism from touching the wall and scratching it. Everything is ready!

The twine, by the way, can be colored, and if you choose orange threads, the watch will automatically turn into an autumn craft.

You can use threads of three colors: yellow, orange and red, and such color transitions will further set the mood of the interior in which the clock will be located. As a seasonal decor - a wonderful and uncomplicated homemade model.
