Pompons or cheerleading pompoms - many are reading this expression for the first time. This is a kind of accessory that is used in between competitions by girls from a dancing cheerleading group.

Pipidastre is an English word meaning an anther, a brush, a duster made of the finest synthetic or polypropylene threads, or a fluffy object used to remove dust. Such an accessory is correctly called a pom-pom for cheerleading or sports dancing, which is used by girls to attract spectators in sports competitions. During the dance, cheerleaders have a pair of large bright pom-poms, with which they perform various movements.

Nobody knows the exact time and reasons for the appearance of such accessories. But there is a myth with a humorous connotation. They say that at the time when football was just in its infancy in America, children around the perimeter stood up with armfuls of hay. They shouted different rhymes and encouraging words, thus supporting the players and the team as a whole. After some time, the attributes changed, and the very pompons came to replace them.

Dance pom-poms come in several varieties. They differ in color, size, material from which they are made. The size is calculated in inches (1 inch - 2.54 centimeters). When buying or manufacturing, you need to decide how the accessory will be used in dances. The most common option is 15 centimeters or 6 inches. For children, four inches or 10 centimeters are more commonly used.And it is very rare to use pipidasters of 10 inches - 25 centimeters. They are needed in order to be noticed from a long distance.

The color combination is different: from pink and white to yellow and red. It all depends on the color of the suit and shoes. But accessories are preferable from a mixture of two shades - light and dark. The accessories have different types of handles: in the form of a dumbbell in the middle with threads coming out in the center, Standard and Block - they are used for accessories in 8 and 10 inches, with a hidden elastic handle for small pom-poms that are worn on hands. Various materials are also used for manufacturing: Plastic - a matte material without shine, Wet Look - with a glossy finish, Metallic - from metallized plastic, Holographic - metallized plastic with holography.

There are several ways to make pom poms for cheerleaders and home cheerleaders. Differences in materials used in the work: from garbage bags, paper, tulle, New Year's rain, yarn for washcloths. The presented raw materials can be purchased cheaply, and the appearance will turn out to be beautiful. There are several advantages to DIY products. If you buy such accessories in a specialized store, then they will cost a lot of money. But in the manufacture of a product from improvised means, large investments will not be required.

Basically, cheerleaders use several sets of outfits, and in order to pick up pompons to match the shade of the dress, again, you will have to spend money. You can, for example, buy one set of products in a store, and make several sets in its likeness at home.

You will need a lot of garbage or ordinary plastic bags for work. It must be remembered that the more material is used, the more magnificent the accessory will be. The cheapest option is to use trash bags, and if you have the opportunity to use wrapping bags for gifts, then this option will look very rich.

We will describe the entire manufacturing process step by step.

• It is necessary to prepare a stack of bags at once - up to 35 pieces.
• Spread them out, connect them with a safety pin in the center, or sew them neatly.
• Then cut 4 centimeters around the entire perimeter, cutting off the handles and folds.
• In the central place where the bags have been cleaved, fold them in half.
• Make small cuts from edge to fold.
• Next, straighten the workpiece and remove all the pins.
• The output should look like this: in the center - an untouched area, and along the edges - neat cuts.
• We turn everything into a roll and fasten it with tape - this will be a pen.
• We straighten and fluff the pompons. The accessory is ready.

It is easy to make paper paraphernalia for sports dances, and most importantly, it is budgetary. But first, we recommend preparing corrugated or tissue paper, scissors, fishing line or nylon thread. Cut the paper in a roll into equal squares (determine the size yourself).

We put the finished parts in a pile: the more finished squares, the more magnificent the pompom. We collect everything in an accordion, making out in narrow folds. We outline the central part and fix it tightly with fishing line or nylon threads. Cut the edges evenly, straighten and shake the accessory. We fasten a loop of thread to the central part. The pompom is ready.

The lightest and most airy will be tulle pompons. For work, we will prepare a piece of tape or rope, tulle tape up to 15 centimeters wide, and cardboard as a template. First, you need to decide what diameter the finished decoration will be, after that we prepare a template from cardboard of the required diameter.Cut a hole in the central part of the workpiece. Next, let's prepare a second such blank.

• We make a ring out of the rope and put it on one of the templates. Cover the thread with another pattern.
• Next, we wind tulle ribbons onto cardboard evenly over the entire diameter.
• After that, carefully cut the material from the edges with scissors. We take out the rope and tighten the edges.
• We carefully take out the cardboard and tie the rope.

Many people make pipidastra from New Year's rain. It turns out fun and beautiful. For contrast, you can pick up several color shades at the same time.

• We distribute the rain with a beam of the required length and thickness. In the central part, we fix it with a thin thread. It is better to make more of such blanks, because then the pompom will turn out to be voluminous.
• Any stick can be attached to the place where the thread is fixed; it will serve as a handle for an accessory.
• Next, you need to adjust the length of the panicle. And the edges can be cut figuratively, with waves.
• Wrap the handle with wrapping paper or multi-colored tape. The product is ready.

An interesting option for pom-poms is the same material for washcloths. These threads have a rich color palette and are easy to work with. The calculation is as follows: one pompom is obtained from one skein. Here's a step-by-step guide to making an accessory:

• turn the kitchen stool upside down;
• we wrap the twine around a pair of legs;
• we will firmly fix the central part with a knot;
• we cut the loops formed on the side;
• wrap the central part with tape or threads - a handle is obtained;
• decorate the handle with fittings or wrapping paper.

Large napkins also work well. We select large napkins for work, and there should be a lot of them in terms of quantity.

• First, we take curly scissors and carefully cut off the edges. We put napkins in a pile, and then in an accordion.
• We fix the middle with a thin wire or fishing line. Next, level the layers.
• For greater splendor, it is necessary to level one side, and it is better not to touch the second part, and then glue it with the same napkin. The product is ready.
• If you don't have curly scissors, it doesn't matter. The edges of the product can be cut in a zigzag, semicircle or just a house.

New Year is a bright and wonderful time. And therefore, cheerleading pipidasters can be made from New Year's volumetric tinsel. It is difficult to assemble it, and therefore we will use the “figure eight” technique to shape it.

• If you have to fix everything with a straw, then there is no need to leave free space.
• When using a foam ball, fix the tinsel in rows from the middle.
• To make the tinsel ball super lush, we glue another row of tinsel.

You can use various materials for this case. The choice depends on the purpose and imagination of the author. Lightweight material is suitable for cheerleading. As already mentioned, this can be tulle, corrugated paper or napkins. Multicolored nylon threads for washcloths and synthetic yarn look good. Heavy fabrics are not recommended. They will be clumsy and difficult to fluff. Other materials for making a pompom can be:

• fabric, such as felt;
• foil;
• various paper, except for corrugated paper;
• particles of fur and yarn.

In order for the work to argue in the hands, and the product turned out to be presentable, we suggest using some tips.

• For lush accessories, you need to use porous, dense yarn with a selection of different color shades.
• A beautiful and clear shape of the product will turn out if sharp scissors are at hand.
• Do not spare the threads to hold the parts together, otherwise the pompom will quickly fall apart or look tousled.
• You can make a product with a picture: print a picture, and study it carefully while working.
