Sundresses for obese women with their own hands
Girls and women with curvaceous forms very often suffer from the lack of a variety of sundresses for their attractive figures. After all, styles designed for slender ladies are not always suitable for girls in size XL. But this problem can be solved. With the help of special patterns, you can sew more than one sundress with your own hands.
Model patterns in boho style
In order to sew a sundress in this style, you need to buy a 3 m cut of any lightweight fabric 150 cm wide.In addition to the fabric, you will need a decorative cord 1.5 m long, two buttons to match the selected fabric, threads, pins and, of course, a sewing machine.
It is better to soak the fabric before opening, especially if it contains a large percentage of cotton.
Fold the prepared fabric in half and cut into two equal squares. It is necessary to cut the edge of each workpiece so that the fabric does not warp during sewing. Then you need to process all sides of each square. In order for the future seam to be even, it is better to first steam it with an iron and then sweep it away. After that, sew on each side.
We got two squares with dimensions of 145x145 cm. Then we fold both canvases in the form of a rhombus on top of each other and mark two points on each side, departing from the corner in each direction half of your wide step. The distance from one point to another will be equal to the size of the wide step. Next, we try on the blank and outline two more points arbitrarily on each side in the upper part. The distance from corner to point is only needed to hold the fabric.
The most important thing is to outline the place where the shoulder seams will be located. There should be soft, flowing folds on the chest.Also, when trying on, you need to decide on the length of the armhole.
We outline the length of the armhole and the width of the shoulder seam (5 cm), having previously bent the corner of the fabric inward. We sweep off each side and try again to make sure that the intended dimensions of the armholes and shoulder seams are correct.
Before sewing both blanks, you must first prepare the cord, dividing it into 4 parts. Then insert 2 parts into the corners under the armhole and sew the side and shoulder seams. You can sew the canvases both from the seamy side and from the front, stepping back from the edge 1 mm. The seam on the front side gives several advantages: it saves time, it fixes the wing well on each side, if necessary, you can quickly open the seam.
You can now insert the remaining two pieces into the shoulder seams, manually from the wrong side. They perform two functions: they fix the sundress by tying it to the strap of the bra and drape the fabric on the chest.
We try on a sundress and fix the fabric with laces in the corners, tie at the back like an apron. If desired, you can tie the front of the fabric. We fix the lower corner of the sundress with a button.
We sew a summer dress-sundress
To sew a summer dress-sundress, you will need 1 m of light fabric with a width of 150 cm. This length is sufficient for sizes 52 to 58.
We take the fabric and, stepping back from the edge of the width of 10 cm, cut off a strip (future strap) equal to the length of the cut - 1m. We sew the strap, having previously bent the sections inward. After that, fold the fabric in half and cut out rectangular blanks measuring 70x100 cm.Sew the side seams, stepping back from the top edge 20 cm.
We bend the bottom of the future sundress and process the armhole on each side. Now you can start processing the top edge. To do this, bend the edge of the upper part by 15 mm, for convenience, you can iron it, and sew it on a typewriter. Insert the prepared strap into the resulting bend and try on.
If you wish, you can slightly expand the bottom of the sundress, especially if the fabric is cotton.
Options for a simple beach sundress
It doesn't take long to sew a simple beach dress.
We take 2 or 3 m of fabric, it all depends on your size, the standard width is 150 cm. In order to calculate the length, you need to add 3-4 cm to the size of the hip girth, which are necessary for freedom of fit and add a few centimeters to the drapery. A width of 150 cm is used for the length of a sundress.
We fold the fabric and make an incision for the future neckline. In this model, there will be only one seam, and will be located on the back. It is unnecessary to finish the seam to the end, there should remain a segment equal to the length of the neckline incision.
Now we process the incision. It can either be folded inward and sewn, or finished with a bias tape. The bottom of the product is folded, and then hemmed to a height convenient for you. The upper part of the sundress is folded and processed under the drawstring. We insert the ribbon and the sundress is ready.
The sundress can be worn in many different ways. If the neckline is placed in front, then the seam will turn out at the back. But you can also flip the low-cut neckline, shift it to the side and it will become an armhole, and the seam will turn out to be on the side.
You can sew a sundress with straps, where a T-shirt of your size is taken as a basis. We take the fabric, fold it in half, and put the T-shirt on it. Gently outline the upper part, taking into account the seam allowances, and from the armhole draw a straight line to the full width of the fabric. You should get a figure resembling a trapezoid. To check symmetry, fold in half and trim. If the chest is large, then the front should be cut longer. This is necessary so that it does not rise up.
Now we sweep off the side and shoulder seams, try them on, and if everything suits us, then we sew them.
Model to the floor
To sew a sundress to the floor, you will need a piece of lightweight fabric, depending on your size. For size 44-46 - 180 cm, 48-50 - 325 cm, 52-54 - 330 cm, standard width 150 cm.
For finishing:
- 60 cm silk tussah 135 cm wide;
- elastic tape 120 cm wide 1 cm;
- satin ribbon, five cuts of 150 cm;
- non-woven fabric;
- hidden zipper 60 cm.
To begin with, we cut out blanks from the main fabric: before - 1 piece, back - 2 pieces, strips for a drawstring 3.5 cm wide and 1.34-1.38 m long for size 44-46, 1.45-1.51 m for size 48-50, 1.58-1.65 m for size 52-54. From tussah silk we cut out a neck detail - 2 pcs., A detail for finishing an armhole in the front - 4 pcs., For a backrest - 4 pcs. We glue the non-woven fabric on the details of the finishing fabric.
We connect the back and in front, sewing on the sides, leave a cut on the left side. Sew the details of the facing of the armholes and the neckline with side seams. Trim allowances close to the seam on each facing piece, then place under the inner piece and sew close to the seam. Turn the inner parts of the additional parts to the wrong side and steam the edges. Align the open cuts of the beads and sew them into the armholes, and then cut off the allowances close to the seam, baste and iron them.
Collect the neck and back from the main fabric, while taking into account the correspondence of the location of marks 1 and 2 on the main parts and additional facing for the neck. Then sew the neck trim to the main piece. Iron on the allowance. Now we attach the lightning.
Take the inner part of the neck trim (not duplicated) and make a seam allowance along the long cut. Sew in the neckline, and then put the prepared inner part and sew it to the zipper ribbons. Smear the inner part with pre-rolled edges. From the front side along the seam seam, make the seam as close to the seam as possible and also along the side edges.
Sew on the drawstring at the waist. Now we process the bottom of the sundress. We bend the edges, iron them and stretch them off, stepping back 3 cm.Now it is necessary to process the previously left incision located on the left side. Tuck the edges, iron them and shake them off, having previously stepped back 2 cm from the edge. Make cross stitches in the upper parts.
Now we decorate with rhinestones, depending on the location of the ornament. Insert the prepared satin ribbons into the drawstring, while the edges should be of different lengths. You can simply stitch them to the side seam on the drawstring line.
Simulation of a winter business sundress
For the cold season, you can sew a sundress with undercuts based on a fitted dress. The main thing is to make the right changes on the back and shelf.
First, we make changes to the backrest detail. From the point located in the center of the neckline, we retreat 10 cm and put a point. Then, from the top point of the neck, we set aside 4 cm (along the shoulder). From the resulting point, measure 8 cm down. Then you need to connect the last obtained point to the center located below the neck. Cut out the unnecessary upper part of the back.
Now let's measure the points on the shelf. Just as in the back from the central point, we go down 13 cm. Now, from the top point of the neck, we mark 2 cm, also along the shoulder and down 15 cm. Along the line of the dart, lay 17 cm, starting from the top. Now we consistently connect the resulting points located below the neck. Cut off the top. We make an incision along the groove line.
We lay out the resulting pattern on the fabric so that the center of the back and the shelf goes exactly along the fold of the fabric. See below for an example of how to lay out patterns on fabric.
Remember to add seam allowances when sketching details. Bottom - 5-6 cm, side lines - 3 cm, armhole - 1.5 cm, shoulder line - 2 cm, neckline - 1 cm.
