Pattern of a school sundress

The sundress has long been part of the school wardrobe for primary school girls. Its practicality and convenience have already been appreciated by many parents and children. Few mothers know that it is not so difficult to sew a sundress for their daughter.

This model has the style of a skirt-sun and shoulder straps. The pattern is designed for size 122-60. Any size of clothing is determined by the girth of the chest. Divide the chest girth by 2.

Now let's start cutting and sewing. Lay out the finished patterns on the fabric. Lay the bodice and skirt down along the lobe thread.

The midline of the back, front and fold of the skirt should lie in the middle (fold) of the fabric. Fold out the skirt as shown in the figure.

Cut around the pattern on the fabric with chalk or a pencil along the contour and add allowances for the seams. The fabric pattern is cut along the seam allowance line.

Then we proceed as follows:

• Sew the bodice along the side lines. All open cuts on the product must be processed with an overlock or zigzag stitch. With the help of such an operation, the fabric will not crumble and the sundress will last a long time.
• Attach the skirt of the product to the waist line.Pin (if necessary), sweep. Trying on a sundress with a basting is required. This must be done to correct any inaccuracies before sewing. Only after trying on the waist is the machine stitching.
• Now you need to sew the zipper into the middle of the back. To make it convenient for the girl to take off and put on a sundress, it is recommended to take the zipper longer. The length of the zipper should also go over the skirt of the sundress.

• Fold the straps right side inward and sew. Then turn it out. The seam can be ironed in the middle of the strap, then the front side of the straps will look neat and beautiful.
• The place on the bodice where the straps are sewn must be closed with a piping.
• We fold the hem of the sundress with a hem seam with a closed cut on the machine or manually with secret stitches from the seamy side.

This pattern can be sewn based on this pattern. The drawing is for a height of 140 cm, the length of the product must be adjusted before cutting. The style is given without darts and folds.

Sewing it is very simple:

1. Baste and sew shoulder and side seams. If, when trying on, the fabric puffs up, then there are not enough darts on the chest.
2. Sew a zipper into the middle of the back.
3. Fold the bottom of the product. This operation is described in the previous model.

The collar that will adorn school clothes deserves attention. In the photo you can see what the collar looks like.

The following work needs to be done:

• Trace the line of the neck of the back and front separately on paper. This can be done at the stage when only the shoulder seams are sewn (or make a paper blank of the piping). Collar width - 5 cm. Length - the length of the entire neckline.
• The collar is cut out in 3 details: 2 main and one non-woven. The interlining will make the collar tighter. The collar will better keep its shape, respectively, better lie on the product.

Sewn on the outside. Turn the collar out and straighten the seam with your hands. Attention! There are rounded spots in the collar.

On the sewn collar, notches (in the form of small triangles) are needed in these places. Use nail scissors to cut them neatly and evenly. Thus, excess tissue will go away. And the collar will be straight from the front.

The collar can be decorated with beautiful tight lace. The lace is sewn in along with the collar on the outside. If there is uncertainty about sewing a collar, then you can buy it at any sewing store (we take all the details of the product with us to the store to try on the collar).

1. Sew on the collar at the neckline. Close the open cut with a bias tape.
2. I will process the armhole with a facing or bias tape. An oblique inlay can be taken to match the sundress or contrast of the product. This is at the discretion of the seamstress. The photo shows examples of processing the neck and armholes.

A very beautiful and interesting model is obtained with folds. You can sew such a sundress according to a pattern with a collar. But the drawing needs to be changed.

It needs to be cut along the waistline, and the skirt must be modified taking into account the folds. Double the width is taken for each fold. Example: fold width - 1.5cm (1.5cm x2 = 3cm). Starting from the middle of the front and back, set aside the width of the fold. There may be several folds. In the finished form, the skirt pattern should look like this: an additional part of the folds is glued into the skirt drawing. The photo shows an example of how to modify the pattern for the folds.

After cutting, we proceed to the following operations:

1. Lay the pleats evenly on the 2 pieces of the skirt.
2. Baste the folds.
3. Connect the back and front with the skirt.
4. Basting along the waistline and stitching on a typewriter.
5. The next sequence of works will be similar to making a sundress with a collar.
